Anyways i love it!! Inch resting that lance is plastics, though I can see it—everyone thinks it’s very superficial and boob jobs but you can do so much good with reconstructive surgery 🥲

Keith as a general surgeon  because they gotta react fast and they get some flashy cases sometimes, like, the ones general public say are exciting. Oh! and also because he has that “JUST DO IT” mentality that surgeons usually have  Lance - Plastic surgery because they need a good eye and a steady hand, they get that reputation of boob jobs but also they do a lot or reconstructive surgery. He also has the vibe (or so she said ) Shiro - pediatric . Because he is good dealing with children AND the parents, and he is calm and collected and kids like him because he’s cool while also being like super good at what he does when things go wrong.  Adam - Okay, my sister just went: if shiro is in pediatric then Adam of course would be in pediatric ICU (and I was thinking on adam in ICU because most your patience arent exactly awake an you need to be very level headed and precise and idk, he got the vibe too??) Hunk - orthopedia and trauma, mostly because he is big and orthopedic doctors need to be very big too, but he is kind enough to not make it look like a carpenter workshop (or so she said) but also because they work closely with plastic surgery and it is cool that Lance and him are doctor friends Pidge - Radiology “they work in dark rooms with lots of screens and don’t see much people, and they got very specialized knowledge that other [doctors] dont know how to read ” AND radiologist also get to work closely with plastic and orthopedia. so still get some garrison trio shenanigans  Coran - psychiatry .  My sister said because of vibes. Also because they often have a way to make a lot of conversation and know a lot of very weird stuff that sometimes makes sense but not really (my sister ain’t much of a fan of psychiatry btw) Allura - Internist. They have to know a LOT about everything and all the other specialists usually end up asking them about whatever is going on when they are not sure about a patient. And internists refer to other specialists and they need to be really smart for it  …also my sister said internists don’t have a life. (in the sense they are always busy or studying or being needed somewhere else, but yea…)

This is what’s great about NASA and it’s what’s great about people. These are world-class engineers. When they sent a rover to another planet they could have easily looked at it as just another scientific tool. But people don’t do that. We can and will get emotionally attached to the most inanimate of objects. We can and will anthropomorphize anything. And frankly Opportunity’s camera mast looks like a little face with eyes and everything, so why not?

So they started calling it her.

They nicknamed her Oppy.

They told her to take a selfie not long ago.

After 15 years of Oppy flipping the double bird to her original 90 day life expectancy, when a planet-spanning dust storm finally knocked her out and she stopped responding to the engineer’s wake-up messages, they started playing music for her.

And after 8 months and almost 1000 unanswered wake-up messages, when it was finally clear that Oppy was never going to wake up, the last thing these world-class NASA engineers did for their little rover on another planet
