This is going to sound incredibly confusing to some people, but I don’t think I’d be able to live with myself if I kept this up forever.
My name is Chapik, I am 23 years old as of writing this, and I have finally come to the conclusion that I’ve been blinded by ambition, maybe even greed, amongst many other things.
I was six years old when I first decided to make a sonic story, back then I didn’t exactly know what I was doing, but I still thought about it a lot, and then fast forward to me being 15-16, I had a very warped sense of self, and I believed that the only way I’d be able to make my story shine is if it had some art to go along with it, thus began eight long years of scouring Tumblr for Sonic artists, cold messaging literally any Sonic artist I liked who had their DM’s open, and using copy pasted greetings and explanations in order to “save time”, while explaining to them that I wanted their help for the project. I don’t know exactly the number of how many artists I have contacted over these eight years, but I believe it may be in the triple digits.
I remember at one point I contacted so many people with the same spammy message that I got shadow banned, and I was, at the time, completely oblivious as to how it happened, but obviously, my account was reinstated, and I self kept going, no matter what people might’ve thought behind the scenes, all because I wanted my project to shine, but everyone wants their project to shine, and you don’t see them cold messaging literally anyone that breathes about helping this stranger with a project that they might not even personally like.
I want to believe with all of my heart that I respect artists and what they do, because I don’t want to think about the idea of me being someone who sees them as machines, that would be fucking horrifying. They are people, and they didn’t deserve to have me invade their DM’s in order to pitch them on a project that conceptually is far too indulgent for anyone to take seriously. I mean, an all male cast? That’s not inclusive or smart, at all.
One of the reasons why I’m making this post is because, about a year and a half ago, someone let me know that I was being talked about on another site, along with the sentiment that I was so infamous that I might as well have been the white bread guy of the Sonic fandom. I will make this abundantly clear right now, I do not treat the series or the AU as something that I get off to, it’s not something that I’ve ever gotten off to. I don’t know if they were insinuating that I treated the AU like it was some sort of fetish, or that I had literally nothing else in my life, other than cold messaging people to help me with a project. So to them, either I’m a fetishist, or a loser with no hobbies.
Either way, I’ve done nothing but make people wary of me, and I’m really, really sorry for treating people like they were tools, because even if I thought I was doing everything right at the time, my mindset was that these people were a means to an end, and once they’d be credited for something, and once they lost interest, they would simply leave, and someone else would take their place. To me, at that point, everyone was expendable. As long as it wasn’t directly because of me, I didn’t care if one or two people left, because at least I had tens of more people on speed dial in order to “help” me.
I did gain a few friends from all of this, and I’m very grateful to them, but it’s becoming abundantly clear now that I’ve been using artists in order to further my AU, all under the excuse that I was just wanting my AU to shine as bright as it could. In other words, I used them as stepping stones, with no regard for them as people, instead thinking of them as people who could benefit me personally.
I was being selfish, arrogant, and conceited, not to mention entitled, greedy, over ambitious, and uncaring. This, along with other personal reasons, is why I’m going to make the following decision:
As of July 1, 2026, I am orphaning both ChaosBound and Sonic ANGEL. I can’t look at these stories with a high regard anymore, considering everything I did to get to the point of having so much art of the stories. If anyone wants to take the stories for themselves, they are more than welcome to message me about it, and we can arrange things, but I don’t want these stories anymore. I feel like that other people will be able to do it more justice than I ever could, just take my name off of it. Maybe I’ll be able to appreciate them from a distance, but I don’t want to be involved in making anything in regard to either of those stories anymore. These stories have been held on for far, far too long of my life, and although I want to continue being a sonic fan, I don’t want to keep holding onto something that has only made people very uncomfortable. The series itself is fine, the stories are not. I thought a lot about this decision, and I’ve debated the pros and the cons of making this decision, but I’ve decided that if I want to become a better person, that I have to stop holding onto childish things. This will be my pinned post, so everyone can see exactly what my intentions with the stories now are. No more cold messaging, no more contacting people to try to help me with the project, no more at all.
As of today, July 1, 2026, I hearby orphan ChaosBound and Sonic ANGEL. I feel like this is the only decision I can make in good faith, so that things will finally, finally look up for everyone. Again, I am very, very sorry for everything, and I wish everyone the best moving forward.
Thank you for reading.
