the rule of fandoms is that if someone has a character in their url or bio they either understand that character well enough to give a 3 hour unscripted lecture on the subject OR they're really obsessed with their version of that character thats an entirely different made up guy. and theres literally never an in between

everyone in the notes saying 'skdfskdffhkshkshkfhs i hope im the first one but sometimes im worried i might be the second!!!!!' is the second one

ok not to imply that i care about the live action but i have somehow been sucked into caring. why does suki's mother need to be mayor of kyoshi island like that implies that suki got the position as leader of the kyoshi warriors through nepotism rather than because she's so wonderful and the best person for the job

no on second thought this bothers me like a lot. why are people so obsessed with important characters being related to other important characters in a show that emphasizes the importance of found family. especially when it comes to kyoshi and her warriors; kyoshi struggled so much with the fact that she is her parents' daughter, and her warriors now call each other ‘sister’ as a mark of their closeness and how much they mean to each other despite not actually being siblings.

it would be so much more poignant if suki were an orphan raised by the kyoshi warriors. an orphan like kyoshi herself, but who got to have a better and happier childhood because of what kyoshi built. that seems like the most logical backstory for her anyway since we never get any mention of her parents, i don't understand why they'd go with "daughter of the mayor" instead. feels like no thought was put into it at all
