The worst thing Preston does is exist as a Black character while asking the player to complete tasks not materially different than equivalent asks from white characters. The text of Fallout 4 tells us this is him extending an invitation to improve the collective circumstances of the residents of the Commonwealth. Nobody responds with violence or mockery when it's Desdemona or Gage or Hancock giving you fetch quests to help improve their circumstances.

The worst thing Marcy Long does is exist as an Asian character who does not hide her trauma, or package it in a way that is easy for the player character to digest. Marcy lost her child during Quincy, then had to flee and travel across the Commonwealth to start her life over again. When Asian women do not compartmentalize away their pain or otherwise do not act in a submissive fashion that benefits others, they are mocked or threatened with violence.

GEN 3 SYNTHS ARE NOT MACHINES. THEY ARE SYNTHETIC HUMANS. THEY ARE ORGANIC except for one electronic component in their brain. It's literally exactly like Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep/Blade Runner.

The Institute literally builds them as full grown adult organic flesh and muscle and bone human beings, you can see one being constructed in the Institute "robotics" section. (Why is it called Robotics? Who tf knows! There's zero robotics work going on in there!) Father himself calls them "synthetic organics" when explaining to the Sole Survivor why his uncorrupted DNA was needed. And if they were machines, why would DNA be involved whatsoever?

PALADIN DANSE IS NOT A MACHINE. He is a human, albeit an artificially constructed one, but not constructed out of artificial components. He is bone and blood and flesh. Glory is not a machine. Sturges is not a machine.

Additional proof:

A scientist named Dean Volkert can be found speaking to a gen 3 synth in the Institute, you glean from the conversation that the synth is a test subject for a drug/medication that Dr Volkert is testing called K-14. You can't test drugs on robots. Gen 3 synths are organic human beings.

He has weak spots; he could die from blood loss, and feel his entire body get so cold as his heart slows to a stop. Metal bones are...conductive, so electricity is a bit of an enemy- that seizing feeling of your muscles betraying you, watching his skin bubble and boil as he'd be cooked from the inside out. A heavy man too; he cannot swim! He'd sink like a rock before being able to push himself upwards towards salvation, feeling the kiddish fear of water engulfing him, remembering the fear he felt once upon a time when he was young and first arrived in Elysium. He would hope to die of a heart attack first rather than drown. Oh, and fire...nothing is quite immune from the searing heat of fire; sure, invulnerable as he is, cook him ENOUGH, and he'd be no more than charcoal and dust.

Possibly...Maybe! In the future! When their relationship grows to a rose bramble...a point of no return when they realize that, Oh, dear. They can't go back from how much the thorns sank into their sides. How much they truly adore each other. Sad eyes say, in another world, in a different place, where the earth was right, and danger wouldn't loom over their necks, he would've proposed a long time ago. Ruby lips say in response, "Likewise, I would've been so happy."
