CRESCENT CHAPTER 20: PRETTY GIRL

I gasped as I opened my eyes and sat abruptly. I ran my hands over my face, wiping away the tears, breathing heavily, and looked around to find Esme, Rosalie, and Alice watching me, confused and concerned. I lunged towards Rosalie and held her close as I cried, her blonde hair fisted in my hands as I made sure she was there in front of me. 

“I’m so sorry, Rose,” I sobbed onto her shoulder.

“God, I was tired. All this vampire shit was too hard, too much thinking. I took a couple quick glups and relished the burn as the drink slid down my throat. I was getting there, step by step, moment by moment, but I kept holding myself back. I kept being scared, and I shouldn’t be, I had already died! What else was there to be scared of? It was stupid, all this anxiety, but I couldn’t help it.”
