It is kind of sad...

Thanks to TimeHop and Facebook Memories, I am greeted each morning by pictures of my past. What absolutely blows my mind is that in each of the pictures I see, I remember how I felt. I remember the hours that I took to get ready for the day, scrutinizing each outfit I tried on in the mirror. I was so concerned about how I looked.

“Does this shirt make me look fat? Can you see all of my scars from acne and mosquito bites? Why are the bags under my eyes so dark? Why do my shorts highlight my stretchmarks? Why are my feet so big? Why can’t I wear heels without feeling like a monster? Why does my shirt crease just in the right spot that makes me look huge? Why can’t I look normal?” And on and on and on.

What kills me is that I look at them now...and I looked fine. I looked healthy. I was tan and had muscle tone. I can barely see any scars. I really wasn’t that much taller than my friends in regular shoes. I did look normal. I looked like...me.

But those thoughts continue to haunt me to this day. I still don’t want to take pictures. I fear that I will look disgusting, and I can’t shake it. I definitely look and feel worse than I ever have before. But, after seeing the pictures from my past, could that all just be in my head? I don’t know. I still see the same person in the mirror, just with different scars and larger curves...and tired, sad eyes.

I just spent a little time re-watching some of Grace’s old videos from when she was on DailyGrace. I seriously teared up a bit. I still knew all of her jingles and seeing her old apartment in NY hit me in square in the feels. Although I love what she is doing today on ItsGrace, those first years were some good times. I would even go as far as calling them classics! I am so glad Mitchell had her in one of his videos so I could discover her channel. When people were watching TV, I was watching Grace. She makes being tall and acting awkward/loveable awesome, and as someone who felt like a freak for being that way all my life, I am grateful everyday I connected with her channel. I still wear my SNACKS zip-up hoodie and my YOU’VE BEEN HAZED shirt all the time, even though they aren’t associated with her any more. I also have my I DON’T KNOW sweatshirt and my ItsGrace pocket tee. Oh, and I have a copy of Grace’s Guidebook, too.

Geez, I’m a sap. But, I’m glad you’re you, Grace, and I’m happy you’re still here.

Oh my god. I got a letter exactly like this in Louisville, KY. The exact same wording and everything. I threw mine out because there was no letterhead or information and I thought it was just a scam but I had no idea that it was this bad. I have no idea how they found me. Please be safe out there.

I went to the Science Spectrum in Lubbock today and saw a documentary on Humpback whales at the Omni. It was so beautiful and they are such wonderful creatures. I would love to see whales in the wild someday. 😊❤️🐋
