Braxton shrugged his shoulders, “A bit of everything. Mostly fixing things that are broken. Like I grew up taking apart the toaster and putting it back together type of stuff, I can do a bit of everything.” He wasn’t particularly skilled in one area over the other, but he had a lot to learn still. “I like it here,” he nodded his head, “never really felt like I had a reason to leave. I think a lot of people leave to run away from their problems,” not that he didn’t have his own problems, but he never felt like he had to run away. “I just buried myself in work when I had problems,” he chuckled with his admittance, “hm, well, I’m interested in you as well, I mean about you,” he stammered about his words, “what brings you to town?”

She nodded and smiled at him. “I used to take the remotes apart at home, but would forget how to put them back so that was interesting.” She laughed softly. “But that’s cool. You put the skill you had to use and that’s awesome.” She was still finding what skills she had and ones she wanted to still do. Chandler’s face fell as he talked about running away from their problems and that’s exactly what she had done. “Yeah. People definitely tend to do that.” She took a drink and then a deep breath before she put on a smile again. “Whatever helps, right? And please, you can be both interested in and about me.” She winked and tried to feel more herself again. “Nothing, really. I was just in the mood for a change and my brothers live out here so I figured I’d play the part of the annoying sister and do just that.” 

Harper nodded at the woman’s comment as it did seem like a pretty good way to spend the day. “Oh definitely, I am sure that we’ll work up quite the appetite while we are walking.” She said, or at least she knew that she would. Harper shrugged at Chandler’s question. “I can’t say I’ve ever really seen any, to be honest.”

“For sure. Especially if we don’t know where we’re going and end up getting lost.” She smirked, not really believing they would, in fact, get lost. “Neither have I, but my brother does it or something and I’ve been wanting to see what its all about. Maybe give it a try too, who knows, but figured I’d be like hey, maybe my new friend would like to tag along.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” he knew it would give him a sort of satisfaction to say  I told you so to Chandler if something happened to her but at the same time, the last thing he wanted to have to say to his sister was that. “You’re damn right I will,” Alejandro wouldn’t let anything happen to his sister, if he had anything to do about it. He knew that he couldn’t protect her from everything in life, but he sure as hell would try. “That’s what siblings are for, you know that.” He gently nudged his sister with his elbow, shooting her a grin.

“I know. And just know I would do beat down anyone for you too.” She said with a grin because she definitely would do anything with Alejandro. She knew he could handle himself, but if there was ever anything he needed, she would drop everything and take care of business. “So, are we ordering or what because I’m starving and if I drink anymore without food you’re going to be carrying me home.”

It was rare that Chandler actually thought about her marriage to Samuel. It was a marriage of convenience, honestly. She needed help paying for college and he had this thing and it just seemed to work out with him being in the military. She hadn’t heard from him in a long time and from what she gathered, it was easy to presume he was dead. She was sad that may be the case and she did worry about him from time to time, but there was no true love there, just general care for a fellow human being and she didn’t let the legality of them being married stop her from dating or seeing other people or even telling many people. 

So, when she was grabbing some food at the local cafe and saw her husband’s cousin as she was walking out, made her freeze and almost drop her food, but she held on tighter as she felt it about to fall. The thought of go talk to him or just leave came to her mind, but as the man looked up at her, she knew she couldn’t just bolt so Chandler walked over to where he was sitting. “Mic. What a... interesting surprise.”

Braxton chuckled with her words, “I get that,” he said as she finished off her drink. “Me?” He shrugged his shoulders, taking a sip of his own drink to figure out what he was even going to say to a question like that. What did Braxton Davies say about himself that would even remotely impress a woman as beautiful as the one sitting next to him. “I’m a handyman of sorts,” he didn’t really know his official job title, “jack of all trades, honestly, I basically freelance my skills to people around town.” He was already off to a rough start, “Born and raised here, never really been anywhere else,” outside of brief trips for Spring Break. “Honestly, not really much to tell.” He admitted to her, shrugging his shoulders again.

“Yes, you.” She laughed. “You’re the only one I’m talking to.” Chandler teased him a little and waited for him to answer. “You freelance your skills, huh? And what are all the skills that you have?” She asked curiously with a smirk on her face. “So, you like it here then? Never wanted to be anywhere else?” Chandler asked and took a sip of her drink. “You say that, but I’m interested in it all.”

“I am over forty, so I wouldn’t be surprised if my body doesn’t slowly start to give up on me.” he laughed, shaking his head. Truthfully - while 40 wasn’t even old - Cohen could tell a difference in the way his body felt these days in comparison to a few years ago, and the idea of getting older just made him shake his head. He’d never been one to believe that after forty things went downhill like he’d always been told, but he was definitely starting to feel it. “I’m glad that people in the town are passionate about keeping it clean.  It really says a lot about Bridgeport; I’ve never really been in a town that took pride enough like this. I mean, Wilmington was clean, but it was also really touristy so it was harder to determine who was the one causing the mess really.” he shrugged. When she asked him if he wanted to help he nodded. “Yeah, I’d love that.” he smiled. “Those bags over there?” he questioned, though he was already making his way towards the stash he was sure she was referring to. As he placed his hands inside the glove - he was thankful in the moment he’d picked up the biggest pair as they were still a little snug - he moved towards the edge of the shore and began picking up trash. “Well, maybe someone needs to pay you in drinks or snacks at least.” he laughed. “A radio host sounds like such a cool job. Are you a host or are you more of the tech and sound board people?” he asked. “I’m a teacher. Middle school English.”

Her eyes widened as the man said he was over forty and she shook her head. “There’s no way you are over forty. You look amazing.” There as a hint of flirtation in her voice. No matter how old this man was, though, she had a feeling he would always look good. “Oh, I’m actually new in town. But from what I’ve seen, the people are committed too taking care of the whole town, really. I just took on beach duty today.” Chandler said with a smile. “I’m sure that’s the case here, but seems pretty great. Is that Wilmington, North Carolina?” She asked curiously before nodding to answer his question. “Yeah.” She smiled as he got a bag and gloves to help her. It was nice having someone else join her. “Well, that would be great. I do love drinks and snacks.” The woman laughed as well. “I am a co-host, yeah. It’s so different than what I am used to, but so nice.” She grinned. “Really? That’s awesome. Do you like it then?”

Colton nodded at her. He’d built the home studio when he decided he was actually staying in Bridgeport a while. There wasn’t anywhere else in town that had everything he needed in order to get a final product that he was happy with. There were so many technical things that went into music. “That is the plan. As soon as my label approves the idea.” Colton said as there were of course rules he needed to follow. Sometimes he thought about becoming independent, but now wasn’t the time. “Well, I am glad it’s been treating you well so far.”

“They better if they know what’s good for them.” She said with a smile. “If you need any help or, like, an assistant or anything, let me know.” Chandler would gladly help out if he needed it whether it was a coffee run or something else. “Me too. I don’t know what I would’ve done if it didn’t.” She would’ve took off to somewhere else. Maybe back home. She just knew she couldn’t go back to New York.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” he chuckled and she was right. Alejandro didn’t know what he would do without Chandler. Considering all he had been through in the early adulthood years of his life, he had never expected his sister to stick around and keep in touch with him, to be living in the same place as him again. It was more than he could have asked for. “It would not be cool,” he shook his head, “I mean obviously,” he held up his hands in a mock surrender, “I can’t stop you but, you know I wouldn’t be your brother if I didn’t worry.” He knew that he looked gruff on the outside but when it came to his family, he was very protective.

“Exactly.” She grinned, even more glad that she came out here to be closer to her brothers. Alejandro would always hold a special place to her and she was glad things were different now for him, but also glad she had stuck by him during that time. She loved her brother and nothing could stop her from doing so. She stuck her tongue to at him before sighing. “I know. And if something happens, you can say I told you so or something. But I’m sure I’ll be fine and you’ll kick anyone’s ass that goes too rough on me.”

Harper nodded at the woman’s suggestion. She was huge when it came to hiking, but she knew that it might lead to her finding some inspiration for things on paint around here. “Oh definitely, it won’t hurt for us to try.” She added before she typed in Chandler’s phone number into her cellphone. Once she was finished she listed off her own number so that the other woman would have it as well.

Chandler grinned as the other gave her the number and gave her a text before putting her phone away. “I’m glad you think so. We can bring lunch and everything too. Have a full day of it all.” She was really looking forward to this now and was glad she had met Harper. “Anything else we should be doing? Oh, how do you feel about MMA fighting?”

Cohen smiled as the other introduced himself and he nodded. “I’m glad that my brain hasn’t begun to deceive me yet.” he laughed softly as she told him that she was in fact out here often. “I think it’s good, what you do. I see you out here sometimes and even when I don’t, I just think about all the hard work you put into cleaning up other people’s trash that I’ve started just making that part of my routine.” he admitted. “I shamefully don’t do as much as I’d like to do around here, but, I’m trying to be better.” he shrugged. “Anyways, it’s nice to meet you as well, Chandler.” he smiled. “What do you do around here? I imagine the city doesn’t pay you to clean up after grown adults right?” he laughed.

She laughed. “Your brain is definitely safe right now. I don’t know about other things, thought.” She teased him before grinning as he praised her. “Thank you. It’s not too bad, actually. I think there’s others that come out here and do it, but I’m glad I’ve inspired others to come out and pick stuff up too.” Chandler said happily before shrugging. “Nothing wrong with that. Do you want to help now? I got some extra bags and gloves.” The woman offered as she pointed towards where she had her stuff that she brought with her as well as a little cooler she had with drinks. “No, they don’t, but I wouldn’t mind that.” A laugh came from her. “I actually just got a job at the radio station so I’m doing that. It’s new for me, but fun so far. What do you do?”

Braxton chuckled at her words, having only known the woman a short time, since they’d been talking, he was already having a liking toward her. “Alright, you got yourself a deal,” he laughed again, nodding his head before taking a sip of his own drink. It was practically the weekend and Braxton planned on taking full advantage of having a good time. “Open minded ain’t a bad thing to be,” he found himself grinning at her, “I can be too, given the right situation.”

“Perfect.” She said with a grin and took another drink of her own. Chandler was always easy to please and after she finished this or another, she would be on the bar or a table like she used to be all the time at Coyote Ugly. “Thank you.” She continued to smile at him before nodding. “I get that. And it has to be the best ones for you. Turns out, not a lot isn’t too bad for me.” She finished her drink and ordered another before looking at him. “So, tell me about yourself.”

“I like the way you think,” Alejandro chuckled softly at his sister’s compromise. Both was always a good way to go and he was happy that his sister said that. Alejandro shook his head, “Not that you can’t handle it,” he never doubted Chandler for a second, “I just don’t want to see what you can do up there.” In all honestly, he figured it would scare the hell out of him. “For my own sanity.” Alejandro let out another softened laugh, “I couldn’t handle it.”

She smirked. “What did you ever do without me?” She teased him and put down the menu now that they figured out what they were doing food wise before taking a drink. A pout formed on Chandler’s lips as her brother said that he didn’t want to see her do the fighting. “Come on, Alejandro. I’m not a kid anymore. I’m not going to get hurt. And if I do, it’d be cool. It can’t be that intense.”

“I do appreciate it.” Colton replied as he did appreciate a stranger stopping to help him. He nodded his head at her words. “Yeah, I have been picking away at some stuff in my home studio.” He said as he was always working on music. It was more just a question of if any of it was going to become something he eventually released. “It is a good place to live, but I might be biased.”

“Good. I’m glad.” She grinned as she continued holding the flashlight for him. She was happy that she was able to stop and help him out here. She just hoped he was going to be able fix it enough to make it home. Though, even if he didn’t, Chandler would help him get home. “You have a studio at your place? That’s amazing. Are you releasing a new song soon?” She asked curiously. A smile crossed her lips and she shrugged at his words. “Maybe, but it seems pretty good to me so I think that’s okay.”

Harper nodded at Chandler’s statement. There was something so relaxing about being at the beach. “Yeah, I love to just listen to the waves and work on my art.” She replied as it was one of her favorite pass times. “I am sure that there are some places, I am likely just bad at finding them.” She replied with a small chuckle. “But sure, why not?” Harper added as she pulled out her phone so that the could get her number.

“Ugh, yes. That has to be the best.” She said and could imagine how the other felt about it. Chandler personally loved reading or even walking by the water so doing art would’ve been amazing. “Well, more the reason we should go together and find one.” She said before grinning and telling the other her number and getting her own phone ready to put Harper’s number in her phone. 

“You definitely moved to a good place if that’s what you enjoy doing in your free time.” Harper replied with a nod of her head. “I love to go to a remote part of the beach myself, and just relax. Thankfully there are a few good places to do that around here.” She added as she had found a few places to relax. “I can’t say I have found that many nice places to hike though.”

“Good to know.” She laughed softly. “Oh, I bet that is amazing. While having a  busy beach is great, a quiet part is always the best. You can sun bathe and read and all that. It sounds amazing.” She said before humming. “Hmm may have to go out looking then. There has to be a place nearby. Hey! Maybe we can take a day and look around. If you’re up for it, of course.” She pulled out her phone. “We can exchange phone numbers if you want?”
