Lawrence’s hand caught on something round. He paused and slowly pulled out the object. He looked down and studied it. It was a CD player he had secretly bought for Adam during a rest stop. His eyes stung as he pulled it out and continued to examine his bag for something else. Sharp edges pressed against his hand as he pulled out a CD case. Once more, Lawrence fished through his bag. This time, his hand emerged with a pen and a blank, white piece of paper.

The quiet click of a pen lulled him out of the cathedrals of his mind, drowning out any thoughts with the repetitive motion. His hand hovered over the paper. Lawrence knew his handwriting would be illegible due to the unignorable tremor of his hands and the tears burning in his eyes. Slowly, letters formed before Lawrence could stop his hand from writing what his mind couldn’t process.

“Lawrence–” Adam had cradled him as if he were a child. He was cold and shaking, and he’d stroked Adam’s face, staring up at him as if Adam were some distant, lovely star. “They’re– they’re g-gonna be okay. I…I promise.”

“I trust y-you.” His eyes shone, and then, softly, they slid closed. “You…wouldn’t lie to me.”

Adam stayed with him until his breathing stopped, until his body was cold as ice in his arms. He’d wept, and begged him to wake up, and promised him over and over that he’d do what he said, that Alison and Diana would be safe, that he’d do anything Lawrence asked, please, if he just woke up.

Lawrence’s hand quickened, and his teeth dug into Adam’s lower lip. His body was warm and heavy on top of him, pressing him down, caging him in.

“Everything, then.” His voice was low. “Give me everything.”

“I've never liked being in control, I guess. It's just easier to let someone else take over, and then if it all crashes down it's on them.” Adam laughs wryly. Lawrence begins to rub absent-minded circles into Adam's waist then. To comfort him. That was all. “That's not necessarily a bad thing, to not want that. Especially if you find someone who does, um, want it.” Adam looks up at him under his lashes, framing twin pools of icy water. He could drown in those eyes and adore every second. “Like you.” Lawrence’s mouth is very dry. He licks his lips. “Yeah, like me.”

Lawrence and Adam watch movies together after a long day. They start out as friends. They end up something more.

"Um, what the fuck is this? Didn't you finish this fic over a year ago?" Well yeah, technically. It is now October 6th 2025, just over a year after I posted the last chapter of this fic. However, I revisited this fic earlier this year, and in the months since I have made some little tweaks and fixes to things like typos and places where my tenses were all mixed up, and I can now finally say over a year later, this fic is officially done.

Is there some stuff that I would maybe do a little differently if I were to write this story now? Sure, but this wasn't a rewrite, just a refurbish, and I am still proud of what I accomplished here as a brand new writer with no idea what the fuck I was doing, (not that I really know now).

This story came not only from a place of love for this franchise and these characters for nearly two decades, but also from a deep place of my own grief and loss, and I don't know that I will ever be able to put into words what writing this story has meant and what it has done for me, and how much it has meant for me that anyone has taken their own time to read, love, and share it with their own heart.

You’re basically a sugar baby.” “Shut up,” Adam says, but he’s smiling like he can’t help it. “Hey, I don't care as long as he keeps up this rate,” Amanda laughs. “I don't even have to put out like you, slut.”
