I don't get why people like sefikura. Sephiroth hates cloud and wants to kill him that's the only reason why he follows him.
Counterpoint: Sephiroth hates Aerith more than he hates all the others combined. Way more than Cloud. To the point where he is consistently aggressive around her, dead-set on killing her. He never stalks her, never tries to so much as cross paths with her. The only time he's around her, he's either trying to hurt her, demoralize her, or telling her to STAY THE FUCK AWAY from him because her presence disgusts him.
If you want a true rival to Sephiroth, I'd argue that it's Aerith. Cloud is the more external rival. But Aerith is the internal one. And Sephiroth absolutely loathes her for it. You won't see him caressing her face or pinning her down or acting playful around her the way he does with Cloud. Sephiroth seems to genuinely enjoy Cloud's company. It's the complete opposite with Aerith. He wants absolutely nothing to do with her. And THAT, in my opinion, signifies that his relationship with Cloud is special, something more human and personal than his more violent relationship with Aerith. I think he has feelings for Cloud. Toxic, possessive, extremely unhealthy feelings. But genuine ones. It's a mad love with specks of hate. Fighting is part of his love language with Cloud. Routine. With Aerith, it's the opposite. It's just HATE-hate. And the need to push her away from him at all costs.
