Rair Cosplay

Throwback to my first Fan Expo cosplay! So many amazing moments in this costume including getting to meet Vic Mignola. My cousin @aithnefire is on the left and she made both Winry's and Ed's costume in under a monthn and it was her first cosplay ever! The giant Alphonse is my brother and I made that suit of armour from scratch in a month as well. That whole thing is paper mache on craft foam which I did not seal in any way and during the 31°C weather the wood glue was literally melting! And let's not forget my brilliant idea to dye my hair rather than buying a wig (pro tip: always buy a wig). Moving to England has changed my life in a lot of positive ways, but I miss cosplay dearly. I miss the planning and the prop making, but also going to conventions and finding other people who love my fandoms as much as me. I miss laughing with friends and even the stress of con crunch because everyone is in the trenches together. I miss that moment of completion, when you're in full costume and make-up and you look in the mirror and can't help grinning because the blood, sweat and tears have driven you to madness. Until my eventual return to Canada I'm just going to be planning my next cosplays and reminiscing on the amazing and fun times with friends in costume. First up on that new cosplay list is going to be Riza Hawkeye from FMA Brotherhood - a truly amazing supporting character who kicks butt! To everyone at Fan Expo this weekend have an amazing time - I'm with you in spirit <3

Missing summer days like this. I haven't watched the new season of RWBY, but I've heard really good things so far. I saw all of the voice actors for team RWBY at MCM Expo London last month, but failed to get a pic.

Winter Schnee photoshoot! Realized that I have zero photos of my Blake costume so I'll just have to post a bunch of my Winter photos from this summer! Costume is 100% made by me.

Only photo of my finished Raven costume because I always forget to take photos until I get to the parking lot after the con (does anyone else do this?)!

Old pattern for my Pyrrha Nikos necklace. I used the ceran wrap and tape method. The final version was made out of craft foam. If I ever find any pics of me in that costume I will share them.

Add another piece to the finished pile! Raven's bodysuit is now complete meaning I only have her boots, belt and brooch left! Going to switch gears and work on Blake's boots for a bit before bed. Hopefully I can get those to the point before gluing them to the shoe soles.

95% done Blake's jacket. Just need two more snaps. Should definitely be able to finish this for Fan Expo!

Boots are almost done! Blurry progress photos are all I've got for now. Not going to work on finishing these until I'm done Raven's boots so I can glue both to the soles of their shoes at the same time (and I need to find that tutorial on sewing zippers into stretchy fabric with interfacing).

Working on the gold trim for Blake’s boots. I’m using a stretch vinyl rather than bias tape because I couldn’t find the right colour gold. Pics are: 1. Two identical pieces cut out 2. Sewing the two pieces together with the right sides facing each other (this makes the next step easier) 3. Flipping the two pieces and sewing with gold thread along the outside for topstiching (so the seam will be nice and flat) 4. Both finished pieces for the top boot trim Next step will be sewing these to the top of the boots/bottom of the pants.
