tomorrow starts today

“I want to stop all of this but… I don’t want to hurt Uma, Gil, and Harry,” he admitted softly. It was a naive goal in a war that was only just beginning, Carlos knew he had to choose one side over the other eventually.

“We’re going to be okay I promise. They’ll come around I’m sure.”

Jay was walking in the castle when he ran into Harry. “Fuck man I’m sorry. I’m on my way to Uma. I’m going to bend the knee. I fully support you guys.”

Jay walked to the castle. He had scheduled a meeting with Uma. He looks at her seriously. “I ummm, I’m going to bend the knee to you. I believe in what you’re doing and what you’ve done. You have my full support.”

“Exactly,” She smiled, feeling a bit like she was reassuring a puppy. She pat him on the shoulder. “We’ll be just fine.” 

He sighs. “I’m most worried about Carlos. What if they use him to get to us?”

“Of course.” Evie said, patting Jay on the shoulder.  Though she struggled to feel her own reassurances, “That’s what friends are for.” 

He smiles. “We’re going to be okay Evie. I promise. We’re going to keep everyone safe. There’s enough of us to fight back.”

“ do you want to know what happened to audrey ? ” oh how furious she is ! “ you happened . you and your little crew with perfect mal as your leader . ” arms fling in the air in frustration . speechless . the destruction that was brought by the new regime was obvious .“ i didn’t say uma’s reign is flawless … ”

“Do you really think you’d be better off if you were with Ben? You’re much better off without him. You would have been in the shadows with him. You deserve a more forward role.” He nods. “I’m not going to completely say Uma’s awful, because she brought all the people from the Isle. She has a good heart. She’ll make a good leader if she would just reign some things in.”

Wren leaned in and cuddled Jay as much as he could in this state. “I’ll be alright for now. I just want to stay with you. You make this all feel a lot better.”

“I’ll never leave your side. Except to use the bathroom of course.” He jokes. “But other than that I’m all yours. Are you hungry? I think we should inform your mother of this.”

“I know what I want to do but I don’t know if it’s possible.” He wanted to convince his lovers that there was another way to do all of this. Another way that didn’t involve endangering the lives of innocent people. “Thanks, Jay. I just don’t know what we can do about all of this.”

“What is it you want to do. I’ll help anyway I can.” He says. He was committed to helping his best friend. He wanted everything to be okay. “I don’t either but we’ll figure something out I promise. This will get resolved.”

“ No – ! I… I know what everyone must think but I had no idea they were planning this. I don’t know what to do, I want to help but… I still love them, Jay.” He admitted, his throat burning with guilt over the situation.

“This must be so hard for you. I wish I could help someway I really do. Do you have any idea what you want to do? You’re welcome at Evie’s you know that.”

“Weirdo,” Wren told him although he leaned in and kissed him, turning the one of amusement into something soft and real. He winced a little, his wound severely painful everytime he moved, although it was worth it to kiss him.

He kissed back but stopped when he winced. “Are you okay babe? Can I get you some pain meds? That might help.”

“we’ve been through terrible situations like this, but have always been there for each other. and the only true ruler of auradon is ben.”

“I agree. We’re going to be okay. I believe that. Ben will be put back on the throne.”

“I look forward to it,” Wren told him. He sighed and moved over, shifting slightly to allow for room to have Jay comfortably next to him. “I know. But everything turned out okay. And it was all thanks to you. I wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t done what you’d done and I promise you, I’ll be thanking you for the rest of my life.”

“I can’t wait for that thank you. I’ll take my first thank you in the form of a kiss.” He says and pucker sup, laughing.

Wren smiled only a little bit as he saw Jay’s expression seemed to lighten. “This is a super crappy time for us. I’m sorry we haven’t really gotten to see each other. I’m here now, and I can’t exactly move, so you have me for a while.”

He smiles. “When you get healed I’m probably going to jump your bones.” He jokes. “But seriously I’m so glad you’re safe. I was so worried. To death.”

Wren had known what he’d said before had come from a place of anger, but seeing Jay go to that dark place was upsetting. He never wanted Jay to feel bad or angry, never wanted to be driven by hurt. “You leave him to me. You focus on contacting your friends and making sure we have enough people to keep everyone safe.” Jay was strong and could look after himself, but he didn’t want Jay risking his own life.

“Oh no. I have to get my revenge on Song. He deserves it.” He says. “I’ll teach you how to sword fight so you can have your revenge too. It’s not too hard.” He smiles. “We have plenty of people to help us fight.”
