When I was like eight years old I read a novel where the protagonist gets isekaied to a fantasy world and immediately bumps into a wise mentor figure who purportedly wants to help her become a wizard, except it turns out that he's teaching her a fake magic system that does nothing except drain her power for his benefit. This wasn't even the actual plot of the book (the scheme is uncovered after like one chapter), but I've always wanted to do something with that in a tabletop RPG where the GM is actively lying to the players about what the rules are and they have to figure out how the "real" mechanics work. I haven't put any deep thought into how that could actually work from a structural perspective that doesn't just immediately devolve into yet another tedious exercise in "here's the vague suggestion of a system, now have the GM make something up", but it's on my "to do" list!

I keep occasionally smashing my face into the fact that some people DON'T ship Grace and Rocky, and like, I keep forgetting why. At first I'm always like, reasonable, thinking 'ok, I guess some people find the inevitable codependency and degree of their soul-melding a bit off putting. Like, I don't get why anyone would find that off putting, because the way they are so entwined with one another to the point you literally cannot pry them apart without killing them both is what elevates this ship to god tier levels, but some people prefer softer, more vanilla things, so I guess there's that'.

And then I get hit with the second punch of this one-two I keep forgetting and re-find out that a lot of people don't ship Grace and Rocky just because Rocky Looks Like That. And I just. Cannot compute. What do you mean you have a mental block about one of the finest ships of the last decade just because one of them is a rock with rock legs. Where's your whimsy. Ryland 'wet pathetic meow meow' Grace did not almost die 3490 times for our sins just for you to be like 'bbbuuuttt one of them is a rrrooooock'. What are we doing. Humanity is lost.
