the friendly beckon is enough for her to follow the stranger curiously, her eyes drifting upward to notice the… doe ears (?) she had initially overlooked.
astonishment follows the realization that they aren’t attached to the headscarf, but instead appear to be real appendages unlike anything she’s ever seen—or at least, not in real life, and only as part of costumes that performers pranced around in onstage.
"...hm? oh!" when the woman turns to her again, dorothea straightens with a smile. any mention of her new observation goes unspoken, and instead she watches on with newfound fascination as the stranger allows her a better look at the accessory. "sort of! i used to be a diva. that's behind me now, but it'd be a shame to let old skills grow rusty, don't you think? it never hurts to know when to plaster on a smile at the right time."
she continues to peer curiously. "anyway, it may be on the simpler side, sure, but 'one of a kind' makes it all the more valuable. i don't see much of this in fodlan." dorothea lets out an impressed laugh. "that makes it a rarity, and rarity always means demand. who's to say you won't start a trend?"
IT'S ALWAYS HARD TO SAY WHAT THEY MEAN 𐂂 when they say ' i've never seen something like that here before '. she's heard it both ways, innocent and judgmental, but chooses not to think much about it for now when the girl doesn't sound like she obviously means anything by it. ' diva ' is a word unknown to her too, but if faking a smile is what it's all about. . . well, not to say ananke condones lying, but she's also not a stranger to going the extra mile sometimes.
"that's very nice of you to say!" she beams with a soft laugh. "if people really liked it that much, maybe i wouldn't have to worry about fitting in. i got along pretty well with everyone at the academy back home that i went to, but that was so much smaller than here."
and a completely different kind of place, to say the least.
"anyway, i'm parched after all that dancing ; i should go get something to drink before i fall off my feet. oh, i almost forgot: i'm ananke, by the way. i work at the infirmary and sometimes i help teach a class or two on healing for the deer. if you ever need anything or aren't feeling well, you can always stop by!"
