The Nightmare Begins

“Oh, I see,” she replied, smiling knowingly.

Ushering him to come in and have a seat, she got behind the counter and cleared her throat. “Since you’re here, what can I get for you?” She wasn’t about to let the opportunity for some bonding time with Vincent go to waste. “Might as well make it up by being somewhat social, hm?”

He took her offer, crossing the floor to take a seat.  “I feel this is a conspiracy.” He commented.  Was that a joke?  Hard to tell with Vincent, as flat as his voice tended to be. 

“Well, look who it is,” Tifa greeted, a smile on her face as her friend made himself known. “How have you been?” What brings you to our little neck of the woods?”

Vincent was a recluse, so it wasn’t that odd for him to pop in and out of her life. At least he had a phone now, which she was thankful for. It was always nice to see him in person, though.

It wasn’t that Vincent didn’t enjoy the company of his friends he just tended to lose himself in solitude before really realizing how much time had actually passed.  Spending thirty years in a coffin tended to make time irrelevant. 

One of his small smiles flickered briefly onto his stony face, his tone dry.  “I was made aware of how long it’s been since I came around.”  Aka, he got a rather huffy phone call  from a certain little girl about how long he had been away.   “And was told I didn’t call often enough either.” 

“Tifa.”
