once again feeling insane reading dick's letters to deetta. i maintain my position in saying that i would not survive a situationship with this man, wartime or peace time. Picture it. it's your first date, he tells you it's been nothing short of the best dream he's ever had—he's floating through basic, don't pinch him, he says. he signs it off like that [See above. or don't actually unless you're in the mood to curl into a fetal position and scream. out of anger? endearment? who knows. who fucking knows at this point?] Mind you, it's only your first date, your third letter thereabouts. there is more to this anguish. then he tells you you're his pin-up girl. perish the goddamn thought. 'requests?,' he says, oh! nothing elaborate just '1 qt. ice cream—any flavor,' and hahaha! '2 dozen kisses.' all in between him saying, don't eat carbs it doesn't help your diet? cheese? FORGET ABOUT IT. you're a wave? what the hell do the waves and wacs even do except take up space? And finishes it off with a sprinkling of, 'nobody understands me. this guy nixon tho well let's just say him leaving makes me feel as lonesome as a lovesick swab.' and YOU 🫵 know the rest.

dick revisiting brecourt and refusing to wear wellies like everyone else bc rubber boots do NOT go with the outfit. white sneakers will be plastic wrapped!! and will be worn!! striped tops? yes, he loves them has them in varying line weights but in similar color palette.

loved a crisp white collar, dusty gray blazer and solid black tie. on the left is a photo from his dinner with ethel, grace and lewis. on the right is him in france. still handsome what can we do.

and what does he wear to his wartime situationship's 84th bday? showed up fresh in a his knitted cardi, light blue button down, white wash trousers and his (fave) pair of white sneakers. (that is our beautiful girl, ms. deetta almon on the right. mind u he gave her fresh new copies of their wartime correspondence like... wots all this then!) you can already tell he loves a light blue button down (paired it on the right with the chocolate brown a-2 jacket. winning color combo. and accessorized with confiscated fallschirmjäger gloves, because of course.)

Just think. If you had any class or style like me, somebody might mistake you for somebody. You mean like your fuckin' sargeant? I'm just kiddin'.
