*well…wkwkw… it does sounds like a duck.

wkwk supposedly read as Weka-weka or Waka-waka in Indonesian tongue.  it is firstly spread in Indonesian online game chat board community back in the 90s.

since these game chat board full of erm ‘young person’, they don’t like using formal indonesian and use slang like “gue” instead of “saya”. and then of course they want it shorten coz its game chat board, so then “Gue” became “Gw” ;  which basically read the same in Indonesian tongue since “W” can be read as “UE”. 

the same things happen with laugh expression

the use of formal indonesian sound for laugh which is “ha ha ha” looks not appealing in these hip chat board full of young gamers. so they start use “hi hi hi he he ” or “ka ka ka” or “hue hue he he”  or whatever  and yup  like “gue” became “gw”, it start modified to “hw hw hw” 

and finally at its finest “gaul” form, its transformed into our beloved “wk wk wk”  

there is argument that it also influences by another indonesian slang word for laugh or “tertawa” which is “ngakak” or Lol .

ngakak is shortened into “ka ka ka” , then transformed into “wk wk wk”  (coz somehow  “w” is so cool instead of normal vowels idk)

and since these chat board also includes international player, and these people start using it everywhere in the internet. it then became what is it now

just as “55555” is used to write lol in Thailand slang , and “wwww” used  in japan 

“wk wk wk” has became known internationally to present laugh in indoneisan chat platform

This is probably my most favourite picture of EXO (even though they’re incomplete). They don’t look inhumanly, unbelievably gorgeous. They don’t look like idols. They don’t look like triple million sellers.They don’t look like members from a highly successful and internationally known Kpop group. 

Jongdae’s smile looks real and genuine. Kyungsoo, for once, was abandoning his strict and stern facial expression. Baekhyun and Chanyeol looks a little high (XD). 

They just look like a normal group of friends that’s out to have a good time. This looks like a picture of four guys in their twenties, not a picture of four members from the famous South Korean-Chinese boygroup named EXO.
