An Angel's caresses | Vyn Richter | Tears Of Themis
Genre: Fluff, slight Angst in the beginning
Summary: You turn into a cat and seek shelter at Vyn's house, where he takes care of you.
I highly recommend listening to "Out of the Woods" by Gavin Luke after the Angst part! <3
A gentle wind brushes over your body. It's howling and the rustling leaves are loud, but resemble quietness at the same time.
You get up, and notice something weird. You weren't standing on two legs, but rather four, and your body was covered in black fur. Looking down, at the bottom of your feet, there were squishy, pink paws.
You couldn't believe your eyes. The last thing you can remember is resting on your couch in your apartment, and now you are a cat? Alone in the forest? Considering the situation, you are a bit scared. Suddenly, it starts to rain. The dirt under your feet mixes up with the rain and forms sticky mud. You look up into the sky and see the moon shining beautifully.
You look around, trying to find a place to hide under, but there are only trees and bushes, which let every drop of rain through, so you decide to run. You don't know where, but something pulls you to the north.
After running for about three minutes, you feel hopeless. It seems like there is no end to this forest. You decide to stop for a moment to catch your breath, when you hear a noise in a bush next to you. Standing still, you waited for something to happen.
Suddenly, you see two intimidating eyes peaking out between the leaves. You take a step back. A few seconds later, a fox jumps in your direction. You barely dodge him and start running again. With the fox running after you, you run and run faster and faster. You know, if you stop now, you are going to be this fox's dinner. Your legs start to give up, and you come to terms with not making it out of this situation alive.
Like a miracle, you finally see light at the end of the forest. You run towards it, picking up your speed one last time and spot a house with a big garden. Your instincts take over and you jump into the garden and onto a high fence. A fence, too high for the fox to reach.
Still in shock, you meow for help, hoping for somebody to run out of the house and make the fox run away. So you meow, and meow, and meow.
Finally, you hear a door unlocking. When you see who walks out of the house, you start to recognize your surroundings. It's Vyn, and the garden you were in was the one in front of his house. Vyn looked at you, then at the fox. He frightens off the fox with the oil lamp in his hands and then looks at you. You meow at him, trying to talk. He smiles: "Poor kitty."
In this moment, soft hands pick you up and drag you into the house. It's very cozy and warm, compared to the cold and windy forest outside. "I will be right back, do not fear, kitty", he assures you with a fond glance. You wait, still unable to comprehend what is happening. In the kitchen, a pot seems to boil on the stove. It smells like tea, which is highly normal considering you are at Vyn's house.
Vyn comes back with a soft blanket and an old but clean and soft brush. "Come here, we have to get you clean and warm", he says in a soft voice. The blanket is now gently laid over you. He heads back to the kitchen to get a small bowl with water in it. He puts it in front of you and looks at you: "Drink some water, you must be exhausted." He talks to you like to a human. You bow your head down to drink the water and instantly feel refreshed.
After you feel hydrated again, you notice Vyn picking up the brush and slowly and gently brushing through your hair. "My, my, so much mud. Do not worry, you will be clean again", he says while removing the mud and dirt from your fur.
"And look at your paws, I will have to get a wet towel for this."
Vyn gets up again and picks up a towel, soaking it in warm water. When he gets back, he cleans your paws with his graceful hands.
"I have to say, you are a very calm cat. Other cats would have scratched my face beyond recognition now.", he then adds another sentence, "You remind me of a friend of mine. She can be impulsive, but in general, she is a very calm and nice person. I really like her."
"I know, she really is unique. I wish to spend a lot more free time with her, not solely when we solve cases together", Vyn explains with a slightly gloomy facial expression. You want to spend more time with him too, but you weren't able to tell him that before. You would love to tell him now, but the only thing coming out of your mouth are cute meows.
He smiles. Then he sits next to you on the couch he laid you on, gently placing you onto his lap. You are still snuggled into the blanket, but most of the warmth you feel comes from Vyn's body.
"I really like you. Maybe I should keep you", he says in a soft tone and gently pets you. His soft hands carefully brushing over your body feel like an angel caressing you.
"If only I could do this with her as well."
That's when your surroundings start to mix and get blurry.
You wake up and realize it was all a dream.
You are kinda sad about it, but also happy to be a human again.
When you go to work to the NXX headquarters, you immediately start to notice Vyn. There is something slightly off about him. "Vyn! Are you ok? You look distressed", you say in a concerned tone.
Vyn smiles at you and assures you: "Everything is alright. I just happened to have an unusual dream last night." You giggle and answer: "Me too! I turned into a cat or something and-" That's the moment when you stop explaining, because you remember exactly what you saw in your dream. Vyn looks at you with widened eyes: "A cat? That is... interesting. " You nod and continue to explain, trying not mention him: "I was running away from a fox when I found a house and a nice gentleman took care of me."
Vyn's eyes widened more, but he quickly found his composure again and smiled brightly at you: "That sounds like a pretty scary dream, Y/N."
You nod: "Not at all, well, the beginning, yes. But the way the, uhm, gentleman took care of me and assured me that everything was going to be ok made me calm down. The most marvelous thing was, when he put me in a blanket and, well, what I want to say is, I kinda wish it was real."
After this long explanation, Vyn answers: "We two had a very similar dream."
You start to put two and two together and feel your face heaten up.
Then Vyn calmly says: "I wish it was real too, Y/N."
