How to collect and prepare plants for poisons pt.1
This post is going to have several parts. All information has been taken from the Manual for Practical Laboratory Alchemy by. FRATER ALBERTUS. General Principle: Various parts of plants should be collected when they contain the highest concentration of sap.
Bark: Bark from trunks, branches, or roots should be removed from young trees in autumn or early spring. After stripping the outer layer, cut the bark into thin strips and lay it out carefully in the shade to dry.
Roots: Roots should be dug up in autumn after the leaves have withered, when all the plant's energy has descended into the root. However, it is even better to dig them in early spring, before the sap begins to rise.
Seeds and Flowers: Seeds and flowers should be collected only after they have fully matured and bloomed. Then they should be dried quickly in the shade.
Medicinal Plants: For best results, collect medicinal plants during flowering, though they may be gathered at any other time before the first frost. Dry briefly in the shade.
Leaves: Leaves should be collected while the plant is in flower. Dry quickly.
Fruits and Berries: These should be collected when fully ripe and dried for a short period.
Drying Method: One of the best ways to dry herbs is to spread them in a thin layer on clean paper, preferably on the floor, in a place where a constant flow of fresh air can circulate freely.
Storage: Herbs, like all plant-based preparations, should be stored in a dry and dark place. For storing powders, tin containers are preferable to other types. Roots are best kept in sealed boxes. Tinctures and extracts should be stored in dark glass bottles to protect them from light exposure.
Dreams in the life of Egyptians
Archaeological research indicates that the Egyptians held a special attitude toward prophetic dreams. This is illustrated by the story of Thutmose IV. At the base of the Sphinx stood a stele recounting how a young prince became pharaoh. During a hunt, Thutmose lay down to rest near the Sphinx, which was buried in sand up to more than half its height. When he fell asleep, he dreamed that the Sphinx spoke to him and promised to make him pharaoh if the prince freed it from the sand. The conclusion of the story on the stele has not survived, but the outcome can be easily guessed: the Sphinx was indeed unearthed from the sand, and Thutmose did indeed become pharaoh.
Another example of a prophetic dream is associated with Tutankhamun. The king also recorded a dream on a stele, which states that he dreamed of holding a snake in each hand, but upon waking, no snakes were found. While he was pondering this, he heard the words: “Upper Egypt belongs to you; take Lower Egypt for yourself as well. The vulture and cobra goddesses have risen upon your head; all the land, in length and breadth, belongs to you, and it shall be shared with no one else.”
Apparently, the dream came true exactly, as lower down on the stele it is recorded that upon his coronation, Tutankhamun exclaimed: “Behold! The dream has come true! He prospers who holds the dream in his mind; he avoids misfortune whose dream is unclear(?)”
Another fairly common method of obtaining prophetic dreams involved worshippers sleeping directly inside the temple. Since ordinary people lacked formal education and did not know how to interpret the guidance received in dreams, temple officials would assist them, naturally for a fee.
In addition to this, the Egyptians had a book of dream interpretations, commonly known among the people as a “dream book.” The symbolism in it, however, was sometimes strange. For example, if a person dreamed of eating their own feces(...), it meant that they would eat their own harvest and live in their own house. It is difficult to discern any clear methodology or systematic approach here. Most predictions were overly straightforward; for instance, seizing a female slave signified pleasure. Others were outright contradictory. For example, seeing oneself as a deceased person in a dream was considered a good omen; such a dream foretold a long life, much as it is still interpreted today.

The Esoteric Nature of Creation
Some people say science has been able to explain the universe and its rules, but our empirical awareness is merely a single grain of sand in the desert called life. It is not enough to possess knowledge about the world if one truly wishes to attain gnosis. To approach a deeper understanding of existence, one must attempt to comprehend the architecture of Creation itself.
While reflecting on these ideas, I came across The Alchemist's Handbook by Frater Albertus. In this work, a passage quoting the Rosicrucian teachings presents a remarkably profound vision of the universe, consciousness, and the purpose of human existence. What makes these concepts especially compelling is the idea that apparent contradictions arise not from flaws within the philosophy itself, but from the limitations of ordinary perception and understanding.
"1. The Origin of the Universe is Divine. The Universe is a manifestation of, and an emanation from, the One Absolute Cosmic Being. All manifestations of life are centers of consciousness and expressions of the One Life within the framework of their material limitations. There is but One Life in the Universe — the Universal Life. It saturates and fills all forms, shapes, and manifestations of life.
2. The soul is a spark of the divine consciousness in the Universe. As a drop of water is a part of the ocean and all water, so is the soul manifesting in material expression a part of the One Soul in the Universe. In the human being, it develops the personality and the individual expression.
3. The soul-force possesses potentially the powers of the divine principle at work in the universe. The function of life on earth is to afford the opportunity of developing these potentialities in the personality. Since one incarnation on earth cannot possibly be sufficient, the personality must return again and again in order to achieve the maximum development.
4. The moral law is one of the basic laws of the universe. It is likewise called the principle of Karma, the result of cause and effect, or action and reaction. There is nothing vindictive about this principle. It works impersonally like any law of nature. As the fruit is contained in the seed, so the consequences are inherent in the act. This principle guides the destinies of both men and nations. Knowledge of this principle gives man the power to control his own destiny.
5. Life has a purpose. Life is not meaningless. Happiness is a very real thing and is a by-product of knowledge, action, and living.
6. Man has free choice. He has tremendous powers of both good and evil, depending upon his conscious realizations.
7. Since the individual soul is part of the universal soul, man has access to powers he does not know, but which time, knowledge, and experience will gradually reveal to him".
What was the reason?
One day, I was chasing daydreams about the mystical things I’m drawn to. Every time I let my mind wander toward magic, gnosis, and quiet cosmic whispers, I’d sink deeper and deeper—until I completely lost myself in the labyrinth of my own thoughts. I kept an Obsidian vault for a while, a neat little cabinet of curiosities, but it felt too still there. Some spells aren’t meant to be locked away; they’re meant to be shared. So I dusted off my good old Tumblr profile and stepped back into the garden. And here we are. Let’s keep the wonder alive, one quiet post at a time. <3
