As well as restricting immigration, building pipelines, Militarization, more nationalism and so much more. Carney literally told Doug Ford that he (MK) is more conservative than him (DF)

80% of Saskatoon's, the biggest city in Saskatchewan, homeless population is Indigenous despite making up 12% of the population. Black people are 20x more likely to be shot by police in Toronto. There is a reserve that has been on a boiling water advisory for 3 decades. MAID is being forwarded as an option for disabled people, while disability services get cut. We also had slavery. it's just never talked about. Theres the residential schools in which the last one closed less than 3 decades ago. The government also signed a 50 million dollar contract with Palantir. The PM is also allowing Danielle Smith to create an illegal 2 tier heathcare system in Alberta, among many other issues like massively extractive mining operations worldwide and the entire country being an oligopoly. And so much more

Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre announced Friday that he and other Conservative party MPs will oppose the ratification of the K'omoks First Nation's treaty.

Speaking in West Vancouver, Poilievre called for the treaty, drafted between the K'omoks First Nation, the province and Canada, to be put on hold, claiming it fails to "explicitly and clearly protect property rights."

The treaty passed in the B.C. Legislature this spring, and Parliament is expected to vote on its ratification next year.

"Conservatives will stand up for property rights, for your home, for economic development, for our economy, and for affordability by voting against the K'omoks treaty," he said, encouraging Canadians to tell their MPs to do the same.

K'omoks First Nation Chief Coun. Nicole Rempel said the Conservative leader's description of the treaty isn't accurate.

"If Mr. Poilievre had taken the time to read the treaty in full rather than just the talking points, I think he would have a better grasp of the treaty and what it means," she said.

An archaeological field school at a national historic site near Fort St. John, B.C., is offering a look into 12,500 years of First Nations history, finding pieces of ancient stone tools and animal bones. Tse'k'wa is owned by Doig River, Prophet River, and West Moberly First Nations, whose Dane-zaa ancestors inhabited the site for generations. "It's an ancient site, an ancient archeological site. It really proves to us, to me, that we've been here," said West Moberly Elder Laura Webb.

The federal government has launched a new advisory committee on preventive health care to provide guidelines on screening for things like cervical and breast cancer. It replaces a task force that was suspended in March 2025 following controversy over its decision not to recommend breast cancer screening for women under age 50. Experts, including the Canadian Cancer Society, recommended at the time lowering the age for mammograms to 40.

The Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation was in court once again, arguing again over the Alberta government’s duty to consult. This time, it’s about the proposed Wonder Valley Data Centre data centre near the northern Alberta community. The $70-billion project backed by celebrity investor Kevin O’Leary aims to become the world’s largest AI data center industrial park, according to the Alberta government. It’s one of several artificial intelligence data centres proposed in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, where cool temperatures eight months of the year and plenty of underground water to tap into make ideal to house massive processing systems, which need constant cooling to operate.

The Haíɫzaqv (Heiltsuk) Nation says it has completed the first portion of a multi-part settlement after a tugboat ran aground in its territory, spilling thousands of litres of fuel into its waters. In October 2016, the United States owned tug Nathan E. Stewart ran aground in the Seaforth Channel near Bella Bella, B.C.  An estimated 110,000 litres of diesel and another 2,000 litres of lubricants were spilled into Qvúqvái, an important area for harvesting in the nation’s territory. The first settlement is with Kirby Corporation and Henry Hendrix, the second mate of the tugboat who fell asleep during his watch. According to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, he was likely responsible for the grounding of the tug.

A group dedicated to ending the 41 current long-term drinking water advisories on First Nations says part of the way to achieve the goal is by uplifting the work of people who work in water treatment plants. Of those advisories, nearly half (46 per cent) are in places where water treatment systems are equipped with infrastructure that can produce clean water. Water Movement, which aims to end drinking water advisories by connecting and supporting water and wastewater treatment operators, says recognizing local water operators can help.
