Knives are scary right? If you are ever attacked with a knife it will be an ambush and you don’t see it so why bother trying to learn to defend against it, right? How likely is it you will even be attacked with a knife anyways? Here’s the deal: we train knife because it’s the most demanding combative discipline. While you can absorb a punch or clinch a grappler, there is zero room for error against the knife. On the other side, knife skills can solve most up-close personal defense situations responsible adults may face. Because of this reality, knife is the core of the ALIVE! system. Are Level 4 armor plates excessive for use in a low threat operation? Often when conducting an undercover security detachment where the threat level is reasonably low, some contractors may run barefoot or wear a soft Level III vest while on duty.
