CAW Appreciation Week Day 7: OC
Name: Baiko (白こ) Cell Type: Eosinophil Unlike most eos, she doesn’t take on parasites but instead fights bacteria with neutrophil-standard knives. As a result, she can’t do her job very well, a fact that she’s always self-conscious about. Dying her hair white, she constantly wishes to become someone she cannot be. While typically speaking formally with other cells, she really opens up to those close to her. My precious child.

Reimi gestures in between her and the creature, stuttering. “You- you’re- mer-”
He laughs softly, and Reimi finds her cheeks heating up. “Yes, I’m a mermaid. My name is Iishiro.” He says, and she nods.
“My name is R-Reimi,” she replies, walking farther into the water.
or,
Reimi befriends a mermaid.
Day 7: OC
I know I don’t have much here going for it, so might as well explain: this is my idea of DC-2, a kind of dendritic cell that deals with wound infections. The design is still a bit of a wip, which is why this is also a sketch
It’s late, I know, but I wanted to post it anyway.

An OC, for the final day of CAW Appreciation week. This is Adipocyte, aka an actual fat cell, hard at work storing energy for the body. (Specifically she’s a white fat cell - I learned doing research for this picture that there are two kinds of fat, ‘white fat’ and ‘brown fat’ that generates heat. If I have time later I’ll draw a brown fat cell too.)
She has a flattened nucleus, hence the beret. Generally an easygoing cell, but gets anxious if there’s not enough fat stored. Sure, there’s enough food coming in to keep the body going now, but what if there wasn’t? You never know…
I was sad that I missed most of cawappreciationweek due to being busy and college…so to make it up I decided to make this piece integrating some of the missed days plus the one of today.
Sooooo

Cells at Work - RoleSwap AU
AE3803 was a young Neutrophil, and she was damned good at her job, if you ignore her moments of clumsiness. The only real problem was that she had a tendency to get lost. Thankfully, Transmigration made getting around fairly straightforward, but even so, she was prone to getting turned around.
“Again, AE3803?” a senior Neutrophil sighed. “The lungs are in the opposite direction.”
“Thank you!” AE3803 called as she squeezed between two tissues.
Then her transceiver went off. “Well that’s not good! Where’s the germ!”
“Watch out!” She turned at the cry and a red blood cell with his hair covering one eye crashed a large black sphere into her. “Oof!” AE3803 grunted as she faceplanted.
“I apologize!” the brown haired cells called, rushing out from behind the item, “I’m very sorry, Are you alright, White Blood Cell?”
“I’m fine, it’s quite alright,” she grinned sheepishly as she rubbed her head, then caught sight of the item in question. “No wonder you ran into me, that’s a pretty unwieldy delivery you’re making.”
“I’m sorry for running you over, White Blood Cell,” the Red Blood Cell, U-1146, from the tag on his hat, said, “I was just coming off the slope and I couldn’t see past the pill.”
“No harm done!” the receptor went off again. “Oh No! The germ!” AE3803 leapt to her feet and ran in the general direction she’d seen other immune cells running for.

U-1146 remembers the day in the bone marrow very clearly. He’s never forgotten how, in the heat of the moment, he’d managed to get lost while being chased by the Neutrophil teacher. He’s never figured out how it had happened, not even Miss Macrophage had ever figured it out, but that day all those years ago… After encountering a bacteria, a myelocyte appeared and stood between him and the bacteria armed with only a training knife. The Neutrophil teacher had arrived and saved them both, and as he grew up into a Red Blood Cell, every time he saw a female White Blood Cell run by, he wondered if she was out there, still fighting bravely through her tears like she had as a Myelocyte. Or maybe she had outgrown her tears.
And then, to his embarrassment, he ran over a familiar face. The myelocyte, now a full fledged neutrophile, was just as kind and her smile just as warm as it had been in her childhood. As he watched her run off at the ping-pong of her receptor, he wondered if he would meet her again. Hopefully so. He smiled to himself. It was good to see her enjoying her work, terrifyingly violent as it was.
