Today is the first day I allow myself to be alone. To feel alone and that’s okay.
There is comfort in knowing not everyone is for you. You are not for everyone.
The sooner I accept this, the sooner I accept me.

Dear Steve,
Thank you for always being nice. And for the candy.
Just a reminder in case your mind is playing tricks on you today:
You matter. You’re important. You’re loved. And your presence on this earth makes a difference whether you see it or not.

Our Experience of Grief is Unique as a Fingerprint
“Trauma permanently changes us. This is the frightening truth about betrayal. You never really get over it. At best, you grieve and make some kind of peace with it. But a major life disruption leaves a new normal behind. There’s no going back to who you were before.”

It’s okay to not be okay.
At some point in your life, you’re going to realize that you are surrounded by a lot of broken people including yourself. You’re going to realize that everyone has insecurities, fears, and trauma. When this happens, you stop making everything about yourself. This helps you understand the people around you better. When you just stop to think...maybe this isn’t about how they feel about me. Maybe it’s a reflection of how they feel about themselves.
We live in a world where everyone is looking out for their best interests at the end of the day. Everyone is worrying about themselves and thinking if someone isn’t about them in the same way, they’re not worth it. If they don’t act the way they’re expected to, they don’t care. We’re so quick to give up on each other. We’re so quick to hit the unfollow button, delete friend, block. We don’t even take the second to think...maybe they are hurting in some kind of way. No, because that’s not how society functions. It moves on with or without you.
But if you’re a feeler, than you can be an “understander” if you take the time. Every human being is different, has different backgrounds, grew up with different experiences, upbringings, and is the way they are for a reason. Sometimes it’s really hard to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. It’s really hard to empathize or understand. But if we did take the time to, we would see that there’s much more to what meets the eye. Their silence can come from a place of hurt or fear. Their indecision can come from a place of unknowing. Their distance can come from someone who’s drowning.
It takes a lot to reach out. It takes a lot to understand, sympathize, and be compassionate. But if you have someone who does that for you in your life, be grateful. It’s the patient ones that always get the short end of the stick. They are always misunderstood, but always understanding. They are always giving more chances than deserved. And you know why? Because they know exactly how it feels be to given up on, to be left, or to be abandoned. And that’s why despite how many times you give them reasons to leave, they will always stay.
