Oh, Joy Unbounded
It’s not only the start of Aziraphale’s quote on his page shared earlier today by Good Omens Prime, but also the title of the final piece from the operetta “Trial by Jury” by Gilbert and Sullivan. One that ends with the Judge resolving the entire case by offering to marry the Plaintiff.
Of course, we already had a good inkling that some type of a courtroom drama might make an appearance in the Good Omens Finale due to the general influence of the classic Powell and Pressburger film, A Matter of Life and Death (1946), over the entire adaptation, from literal production posters to character design (Not-Crowley’s curls before the beginning, you will always be famous), to literal sets like the Good Omens Heaven. It also happens to be a favourite of a certain Michael Sheen:
“My favourite film of all time is A Matter of Life and Death, directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, starring David Niven. In the U.S. it was called Stairway to Heaven.”
“For me, it is beautifully shot. It is fantastically acted. It has a quality of strangeness that I always love in the best works of art. It is about two forms of reality, the real world that David Niven inhabits and this fantastical world of Heaven with angels and all that stuff. And you never get asked to choose which one is the real one or not.”
The Heavenly trial happens inside a nebula, with a counsel consisting of souls of those who had died in the British wars across centuries and a RAF pilot as the defendant who had accidentally cheated Death in order to stay longer on Earth and fall in love with the person he met over the radio during his fall from the sky. Just for context.
At the same time, the mention of the Second Coming invites another trial to the discourse, that is the Last Judgment — during which Jesus is supposed to use the Book of Life to separate the righteous from the wicked. If you haven’t yet, you should catch up with the speculation on Aziraphale’s roots and possible role in the upcoming Last Judgment in this meta on angelic names.
“We’ve come to a decision” indeed…
The famous deleted British Telekom Tower scene from Good Omens S1, only in LEGO and with more rats and other blanks filled in!
Unfortunately this gemstone of peak Crowley mischief never made it into the show, but I really, really wanted to recreate this scene in LEGO and fill in the missing details, e.g. lots of rats, a (fictional) worksheet to go on the blank clipboard and the sky in the background obviously. Please enjoy my take!
Crowley: "Beautiful job. Thank you all so much, men!" Rat: *squeaks indignantly* Crowley: "Oh yeah, obviously, ladies, too! Nice job!"
For more irrelevant BTS fun and a close-up picture of RATAWAY PEST CONTROL Crowley...

A fan reached out to me and explained that they’re in Minnesota, part of a parent group that has been escorting children to and from school, protecting them from ICE, who have been parked outside of the local schools like fucking vultures.
They said they’re all scared and tired. The amount of anxiety is through the roof and asked for fan art of Aziraphale and Crowley protecting the kids to help boost morale.
So I did. It’s the very least I can do right now. To all the #goodomens fans across America fighting the good fight, thank you! You are the REAL patriots.
Call your reps. Donate. March. But most importantly, keep showing up whether it’s art, music, baking, writing, coffee with friends, reading books to kindergartners.
KEEP SHOWING UP.
Share this with any good omens fans who need it.
Fuck ICE
It's Been on my Mind for a Few Days
So I am just going to say it:
Even if Aziraphale and Crowley didn't get their happy ending on screen (but I know they will), they are already my favourite couple and my favourite representation of love in media.
TL;DR: Aziraphale 'leaving' Crowley wasn’t rejection, it was the hardest, most selfless act of love he could do. Their separation isn’t about each other, it’s about the universe making their love impossible as it is at the moment. I don’t buy the idea that they 'have much to learn' (which seems to usually mean Aziraphale has to learn), or that their problem is mainly poor communication.
I think they are doing all they possibly can already. They always have. The enemy to their happiness was always their circumstances. Not something in each other.
Now, I want to point a parallel with a film that I think if you have watched, you won't forget:
We can still be us, Angel
I finally, finally have a frame for this amazing print from @dorywhynot and equally amazing poem from @lickthecowhappy!

Good Omens & the Existential Art of Not Giving Up (or, When It's All Exhausting)
So many of us love Good Omens, especially Crowley and Aziraphale, with an intensity that our friends and loved ones may not understand. We analyze their choices, their relationship, their future. We cry over them. We speculate, create and enjoy fanfics about them, and await the conclusion of their story with all of our hopes and fears on the line.
For me, one of the biggest reasons I'm so attached to their story is because of the way they constantly fight to figure out how to exist as they are, in a universe that forces them be something they're not. They make mistakes, they get overwhelmed, and sometimes they totally screw it up. But they always come back.
They never give up.
Our world is -- tough -- to say the least. Many of us are struggling to figure out how to exist as we are. So many pressures and expectations, so much conflict and... Well, you already know exactly what I mean! Existential Exhaustion is real, and all too present.
Good Omens provides something much more important than an escape from those harsh realities. I believe it provides HOPE.
I lost hope for a little while. I've been away from Tumblr and my AO3 writing for months because of it. Good Omens was helping me keep my head above water in a chaotic, exhausting world. When the future of GO itself got chaotic, I lost something (for awhile) that helped me make sense of the world's chaos.
But these characters, Crowley and Aziraphale, are beautiful and brave and flawed and So Ineffably HUMAN... They show us what it is to fight and fall and fail and rise to fight again. They remind us that we can mess up and still be lovable, worthy of love. And, when they get it right, they show us what acceptance and fidelity can be.
For the Star Wars Day (May the Fourth / May the Force Be With You) there was shared (with the permission of the Pratchett Estate ) a Terry Pratchett story from the Star Wars Universe that was only published in a newspaper 45 years ago! Very excited to read a new Terry's piece! :)❤ (tweet)
Also, Terry Pratchett writing fanfiction 45 years ago, can I hear a wahoo? :)
