“No,” Catra says, immediately turning away from Scorpia. “Absolutely not. We are not going to Glimmer’s stupid pool party.”
“But it’ll be fun,” Scorpia says, grabbing Catra’s hand to keep her from walking away. “We’ll get to break out our new swimsuits, hang out with our peers, hug all our friends, wear our new swimsuits. Oh wait, I already said that one.”
Catra snarls, pulling her hand away from Scorpia’s. “No! I don’t want to go. Adora will be there.”
“Oh, wildcat,” Scorpia croons, forcing Catra into a hug. “I promise it won’t get weird.”
“Get off me!” Catra yells, failing to push Scorpia’s arms away. Scorpia only tightens her grip, squeezing Catra tighter and tighter until she lost all resistance. Catra sighs in frustration and stops fighting Scorpia’s grip. Scorpia hugs her even tighter.
“That’s my girl,” she says, not tightening her grip even a little. “Look, I promise I won’t let Adora find out you can’t swim, okay? We won’t go in the water. We’ll just stay on the desk, eat snacks, socialize. You won’t even step near the water.”
“Whatever,” Catra mumbles, but Scorpia feels her muscles relax and knows that Catra won’t fight her about going to the pool party anymore.
That doesn’t mean she has to let go right away.
