Has anyone else noticed that most Pete content is in the context of Garvries?? I literally only have two edits that are just Pete in my folder of over 300+ TLW edits. HE LTERALLY WON! HE HAS THE MOST IN DEPTH WRITING TIED WITH RAY, WHY TF IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT HIS CHARACTER?? JUST LIKE HIS STAND ALONE CHARACTER? Most people in this fandom (specifically Tik Tok) only seem to care about poc characters when you can relate them to a white character, Pete is so interesting without Ray. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely adore Garvries but Ray is far from the most interesting thing about Pete. He lost both his parents in the war, stayed with an alcoholic uncle until he drank himself to death and was then left to wander the streets. He learnt to grow up quickly given he had no parents and his uncle obviously wasn’t doing much, he had so little to loose and every reason to not stay but he still found a way to see the hope and beauty in everything. The Long Walk was his way of committing but he chose to not sit down so he could lift up the other walkers, he made sure everyone’s spirits were high and was the main reason all the musketeers made it to the end. This is what I remember off the top of my head and I’m sure when I watch the movie again more will pop up. Please give my boy Pete the stand alone love he deserves, he is so much more than the white boy he loves. Also give him some more ships, I literally only see Garvries. I love them but Pete deserves more love from more characters.
