People who commit crimes don’t care if you tell them not to do it. Every rapist who has ever raped knows perfectly well that it is wrong and a crime. Every robber who has ever robbed knows that it is wrong and a crime. Every murderer, every abuser, every criminal ever knows perfectly well that what they are doing is hurting someone else, wrong, and a crime.
It doesn’t matter how many times you tell someone who wants to commit a crime that what they are going to do is wrong. There is no rapist who truly believes that violating another person is a good or right or positive thing to do. They just don’t care that it’s wrong. The idea that we should teach men not to rape instead of women to protect themselves is not only sexist, it's framing men as inherently violent and women as inherently weak and defenseless (despite the fact that women are just as capable of harm and violence as men), but also irresponsible and has the potential to cause harm as more people believe that it is not their responsibility to ensure their own safety in risky situations.
The only person who can ensure your safety in risky situations is you.
So please. Stop posting the dumb shit about men being violent sex craved creatures, and about how people need to stop doing the rape thing. Because the only people who listen to it are the people that are not doing the rape thing and were getting tired of hearing it. The world can be dark. Protect yourself.
