I wanted to put my own spin on his original boss arena so I decided to implement some of the more recent lore of the DK series into this artwork. K. Rool is surrounded by the overripe/rotten bananas he is stated to love in Bananza, I put them all over the deck because I imagine he is a total slob. The banana hoard is also there, with a different color to show that the bananas are still good, with K. Rool waiting for them to become mushier where he’ll store them in the barrels on the ship. I also slightly altered the design of DK Island to have the volcano from the modern games at its peak.

Quick doodle I did in the margin of a personal project. Green Pippins/Battat/Small Mike/Whatever You Wanna Call Him, is supposed to look like his index finger and thumb are in the “thinking” pose that like you rest your chin in. Without that context, it kinda looks like he’s on the phone even though it’s his hands; kinda reminds me of that one Purple Guy sprite.
