Dayton

Hearing him call her Mrs. Salvatore made her smile slightly fade before she found her smile again, “Please, call me Caroline. You having that fear though is what makes you stronger to begin with. It already shows that you are not your mother.”

Dayton nodded. “Of course, Caroline.” He smiled. “Thank you. I- I needed that. It’s nice to hear.”

“Perfect, it’s a date.” She spoke without realizing she said date. It was always such a casual thing to say but when feelings were being caught it could be dangerous. “Alright well.. Breakfast I want to say Belgian Waffles because you could put so many different things on it. Lunch… normally I skin it since I’m so busy with work but if I do eat it’s just a sandwich nothing big. Dinner now. Hmm.. Ohh there’s this butter stuffed chicken that when you cut open it it just buttery all over your plate and it’s delicious. Dessert would have to be cookie’s and cream ice cream. Snack now. Just give me some veggies. I know, boring but they do satisfy the crunch of chips.” She slightly laughed about her favourite as her eyes watched him. Something about the way he spoke and held himself right now she understood the feeling. “I get it. There’s no rush in the dating field or anything. Go at your own pace and hey, I’ll be here to support you.. Mind if I ask what happened?” She questioned as she was scared to even talk about her ex. Her big blue eyes looked to him.

Dayton blushed slightly and nodded “Yeah, it’s a date.” He nodded as he listened to her suggestions, a smile spreading across is face. “That all sounds amazing. There is nothing wrong with just liking veggies as a snack. They’re healthy and delicious, and you’re right, the crunch is just as satisfying as chips.” His face dropped slightly at her question. His eyes dropping away from hers for a moment before looking back to her. “Um, w-we were in a car wreck. We were out one night. It was just like any other night. I was driving us back to his place. I um... got distracted, lost control of the car and we crashed. Then he died, and technically I did too, but... vampire genes and what not. But, um, yeah. That’s how I turned.” He let his mind wonder for a moment, remembering that night before giving her a small smile. “You’re now one of the few people who know the full story.”

“Looks like we both have family issues of turning into people we won’t want to.” She sighed about it as she tried to calm herself down.

“The curse of being supernatural in Mystic Falls and New Orleans.” He let out a half hearted laugh. “Is there anything I can do to help?”

     ❝That’s the biggest understatement I think.❞ She laughed about it as everyone had their demons. She nodded her head slightly about the Always and Forever. It was their families thing and it was almost like a code they stood by. ❝Yeah, we do. Your family does have each others backs though.❞ She spoke softly about it as she listened to him. ❝So, aside from our parents how is your relationship life now?❞

“Yeah, probably, but the understanding is there.” He smiled. “Yeah, I guess we do.” His mind flashed to Autumn at her question. “Well, I’ve met this girl. And she’s amazing. Like literally the best. I just have to like get the guts to like actually ask her out. Though I did promise to make her French Toast.”

     Standing by, Kol had an amused smile on his lips, ❝See, perfect.❞ He stated as he himself took a person and compelled them, letting his fangs sink in, letting the blood run down his throat.

It had been so long since Dayton had done this. The feel and the taste of the warm blood flowing through his system was amazing. He didn’t want to stop. All of his thoughts and worries flew out of his head. in this moment nothing mattered except this taste.

     Laughing she shook her head, ❝I don’t know how you envied us. My dad use to say that being a Mikaelson we all had our demons and it being a curse but it was also a gift.❞ She spoke smiling about the thought of her father. ❝Well take what you can with the family you’ve got. My parents aren’t even together and my mom was married to my uncle.❞ She laughed about the whole thing and how complicated her family tree was.

“Everyone’s got their demons. Mikaelson, Castle, De Martel, we’re all messed up, but you had a huge support system to deal with it. You guys with your Always and Forever.” He shrugged. and smiled softly and chuckled at her words. “I do love my family, and yeah, we definitely aren’t as convoluted relationship wise.”

     ❝Blood bags are normally what Davina wants me to be on but it’s never as good as the fresh stuff.❞ He started as he was a different taste. ❝I make sure not to take too much blood so that they’re fine.❞

“You’re right. I got this.” He nodded his head with a burst of confidence as he took the hand of a bystander and compelled him to not scream before sinking his fangs in the man’s neck.

“If we don’t well then I’m more like my Uncle than my own parents.” She spoke out without really meaning to.

“I’ve got the opposite problem. I’m terrified of turning into my mom. We will make it through, though.” He smiled 

“Exactly!” She laughed as she extended her hand outwards. “Oh I’ve got to see your skills with this french toast. Breakfast, lunch or dinner are we thinking?” She asked with a raised up brow. She wasn’t opposed to breakfast as she thought about his question for a few seconds, getting quiet it made her think about her ex and somehow he was worse than the supernatural world as she started to shake her head and look away from his eyes. “No. It doesn’t bother me. I mean, I’ve seen worse I feel like and if it’s what keeps you alive well who am I to judge?”

“Yeah, anytime! I’d be more than happy to share my limited culinary talents. You heard all my favorites, I want to hear all of yours.” He grinned. Letting out a relieved breath he nodded. “Awesome. I hadn’t turned yet the last time I was in a serious relationship and haven’t really... dated... much since then.”

“Uncle or not it’s genetics. Either way if that’s now who you want to be you just fight it and being surrounded by those who care for you always helps.” She smiled about it with a nod. “You are not Aurora as she isn’t you.” She stated as  her hands extended out for emphasis. “You can thank me now.” She teased jokingly.

“I will try to keep that in mind. I know I’m not her, but the fear is always there you know? Not that it’s much better but I hope if I have to end up like one of my parents it’s my dad.” He smiled back at her. “Thank you, Mrs. Salvaotre for being my vampire guru.”

“It’s a curse of living basically. It’s just a matter of what demons are we facing today.” She let out a heavy sigh about it as she shook her head to smile in the end.

Dayton smiled back and nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. We’ll make it through, though. Others have done it before us so can we.”

“Of course you do, who wouldn’t love movies? I mean most people should.” She softly laughed as she brushed some of her hair away listening to what he was saying as she nodded her head, “Ooh, I haven’t had french toast in I don’t know how many years. Burgers now those are a great classic.” She started as she pressed her lips together about the feeding. “Ah, fair enough.”

“Movies are great. I agree. Everyone should love movies.” He grinned. “We should go get french toast together some time. Or I could make us some. I’m not the worlds best chef but I can make a mean french toast.” He bit his lip at her reaction. “D-does that bother you? I know that even when you’re surrounded by the supernatural and live with it and be related to it, but the thought of what vampires eat can still be... weird.”

“It can be but as long as you are surrounded by those who care and help you it’s okay. I mean I hate to be that person but Lizzie is doing amazing and look at her Uncle.” She pressed her lips together with a soft smile. “Of course. I’m always here okay?”

Dayton chuckled. He definitely had heard the stories of Kai Parker and everything he’d done. There was no way to live in a situation such as this and not know. “True, I suppose, but like you said it’s her uncle. My mom is the crazy one. Literally the one who gave birth to me.” He shrugged as if to brush off the thoughts of what he could become and nodded. “Definitely. My own personal vampire guru.”

     ❝Yeah, you try dealing with the whole Mikealson family.❞

“Oh god, no thank you. There were times growing up when I envied you Mikaelsons. You had so much family that I thought it just had to be the coolest thing in the world, but I definitely do not envy this aspect of it.” He chuckled and shook his head.
