I could honestly feel Mishaâs frustration with Bucklemming in the Lucifer bar scene. Like, fine, you assholes want to make Cas spend the ep with someone he shouldâve killed on sight? No problem. I will be the bitchiest Cas I can possibly be because fuck you this should have never happened.
Remind me. How would Cas have killed Lucifer on sight? The dude who can only be killed with an archangel blade?
I donât know if you actually watched the episode, but Luciferâs powers were severely incapacitated when he met Cas, and Iâd even go so far as to say he was scared of him. In that moment, Cas probably could have taken himâand if not outright killed him, then really freaking hurt him.
This far in the meta, unless the angel in question is de-powered to the point of being a human, they still only die to angel blades. It stands to logic the same would be true of archangels.
Fun fact: Castiel currently has an angel blade. Again, Lucifer was so weak he could definitely have been hurt if not killed by Casâs blade. If the freaking demonic Colonel Sanders can throw the Devil across the room, I think itâs safe to assume that he can also be hurt by any angel blade. Iâd just really like to know why exactly you felt the need to argue with me about this when my original post had nothing to do with Luciferâs strength. This post was about Bucklemming and their inability to write.Â

He is an archangel, the line of logic was that just as angels still need to be killed by angel blades even when weakened, arch angels need to be killed with archangel blades. Also, you are actually just very defensive. I just take the meta pretty seriously, and if I can point out how itâs actually the writers being consistent that prevented them from taking a course of action like the one we are discussing, then I will. Because it sucks when writers get a bad wrap when they are actually doing something right. Thereâs nothing wrong with learning more about the meta. And MAYBE there was a tool in Casâs tool kit I wasnât remembering, so I left the door open to being wrong with the opening statement.

Itâs the end of the semester and Iâm generally in an anxiety-induced anger cloud this time of year, so I am sorry for being really defensive when you were legitimately asking the question. Most times when people comment on my posts like this, itâs because theyâre anti-Misha/Cas blogs and have decided to spend their morning shitting on my life.
That being said, Iâm gonna post @lasafaraâs comment, because I do think that the entire ep was just steeped in illogical, bad writing:Â

Clearly, they managed to express themselves far better than myself, but the point stands: Castiel could have taken Lucifer. And, in fact, I truly believe that him not even trying to do so (even if he would have failed, which I donât think would have happened), I think this was wildly out of character.Â
Apology accepted of course! I hope your stress levels get assuaged soon. Yes, we as the audience know he could have potentially stolen Luciferâs blade from him. Castiel does not though, he may suspect it, but until he is 100% sure it would be a bad idea to attempt it since Lucifer can normally smite angels with a snap of his fingers and we have no real way of knowing at which point that stops being an option for him. In Castiels perspective it would really suck if he had just gotten back and then ends up dead by Lucifer again. Also when he first went toward Lucifer when he first popped up it did look like we was going to try and fight him, Lucifer was just able to successfully puff himself up enough that It forced Castiel to reconsider. Which yeah, was likely just a Bluff on Luciferâs part, but even we canât be 100% about what he can do at his power level. So I am actually proud of Cas for being careful still, even though it is evident how much he hates being forced to play ball with Lucifer. It galls me as an audience member as well because the time for Luciferâs redemption arc has passed (that would have been the start of last season after settling things with God and Amara) and it would be fantastic to remove him completely from the board again.
After this post, Iâm done arguing, because I honestly donât think that youâre giving Castiel enough credit. The dude is hella smartâeven if he hadnât figured out Lucifer was bluffing from the very beginning of their interaction, he wouldâve and couldâve figured it out quick enough to get the drop on him. Besides this, I think your reading of Castiel is wildly inaccurate and out of character. Based on Casâs previous behaviour and growth, he would have sized Lucifer up, realized he was bluffing, and then had a fucking blade to his throat. Mercy or death after that action would have both been plausible paths for him to take (the latter of which I truly believe would have been justified and could have seen him doing), but I take issue with the fact that he just rolled over and didnât even try.
Cas doesnât play it safe, ever. Not when itâs only his life on the line, and especially not when risk can result in greater good. Thatâs who he is. And please donât try and argue that this is character growth and development. If literally anyone came face to face with the person who had killed them, especially if that person is actually the devil, they would try and kill them, dumb idea or notâBUT THIS IS NOT A DUMB IDEA BECAUSE CASTIEL KNOWS LUCIFER IS CURRENTLY A WEAK_ASS BITCH.
