holy shit this entire prologue is so interesting

it’s dropping so much information that i’m assuming is gonna be important in the next book, with Jon’s death

first off, you have all of the stuff going on with wargs becoming their animal when they die, which probably means that’s what’s gonna happen when Jon dies, with Ghost

second, i’m assuming Jon’s gonna come back a little different. this is supported in this piece from the prologue:

“They say you forget.” Haggon had told him, a few weeks before his own death. “When a man’s flesh dies, his spirit lives on inside the beast, but every day his memory fades, and the beast becomes a little less a warg, a little more a wolf, until nothing is left of the man and only the beast remains.”

he said that this happens every day, and we know that if Jon’s revival is gonna be anything like the show, it’s not gonna happen immediately. he’s gonna spend some time stuck in Ghosts skin with no way out and likely not much of an idea of what’s happening. he’s had no teacher to tell him of what happens when wargs die, so he doesn’t know about what Haggon’s describing here. along with the confusion and panic and cocktail of other whirling emotions Jon’s gonna feel when he comes back to life, he’s likely going to have a better grasp of how to warg and how it feels to live inside a wolf, which leads me to my next point-

three, that first bit i copied above has to have some meaning. i refuse to believe grrm just decided to put it in just ‘cause. so, i’m thinking that Jon’s gonna come back to life with a fairly firm grip on his warging abilities (though maybe with less skill on how to slip back out of Ghost’s skin, which would really be something) and it’s going to effect the plot in some way. though i’m not sure how yet, and feel free to reblog with your own theories on how you think this could happen
