Still obsessed all these years later with all these news channels and television pundits debating Clark’s right to exist and interact in society as Superman, while Clark watches, without a voice, pain in his eyes. Them all projecting onto him this angel or devil character, and the only one suggesting that maybe Superman is a just a guy trying to do the right thing, beyond other people’s perceptions of him, happens to be the filmmaker.
Like, you realize that such a large part of the film, especially with the use of the media, is both a commentary on how the news media deals with real world issues and how entertainment/film critics and fans dealt with Man of Steel and it isn’t spiteful in the slightest! There isn’t any arrogance. It’s raw, and it’s inquisitive, and it’s hopeful, and it’s honest. Like, brutally examining the flaws of the press and the people and the government and powerful men and concluding that there’s still hope. Imagine putting that kind of vulnerability out into the world.
