Write it.

Even if it seems like it won’t make sense, or people won’t want it, or it’s too self indulgent, or it breaks the rules, write it.

You are under no obligation to post or publish such fiction. But I cannot tell you how good it feels when your masterpiece, your little creation, gets the attention it deserves… and then some. When it becomes more popular than you expected it to. When it becomes something people want to read.

Not all of us can be the next big author, but we sure as hell write books and fanfic to read back over and enjoy. Self indulgent as they may be.

I know we’re halfway through the month, but I thought I should post something for it lol. So here’s a drawing of my OC, Folas Trafina, with his Pride flags!

I like the way this came out. I’m doing some more experimenting with my art style (specifically with lineart and shading), so this is a good improvement.

I know everyone has their own preferences (and I hate to admit it but fic setup can depend on things such as story arc pacing, chapter length, etc etc), but that's why I'm running this poll. I want to see what everyone's thoughts are as I format this fic.

The characters are my OCs (Shael on the top, Yalanue on the bottom). Their storyline is currently being explored in “The Healer and the Firebringer” on AO3!

Thanks for the ask! Receiving feedback doesn’t feel great let’s be honest, whether it’s constructive or not, but it’s the response that shows if you can take feedback or not.

So while it doesn’t feel good when someone criticizes my work, I’m not going to insult them or get angry at them for it. I will even avoid getting defensive. Because sometimes people sincerely want to help by offering constructive criticism. Other times they’re being unkind for the fun of it.

For those with useful feedback, especially if I asked for it, it’s my personal responsibility to be a grownup and listen to the feedback. It is then my choice on whether I apply said feedback or not, but either way I’ll listen and not get angry. This goes for every aspect of my life tbh.

For those who are hating just to hate, I’ll just block them and move on lol. They want a reaction, and I won’t give it to them. Responding, even if it’s in a respectful way, gives them power to hurt their targets.

Feedback is always welcome, but the way it’s given makes a difference and can determine whether someone falls into the first category or the second. Best practice is to always be kind and ask first if the person wants it (or in the case of AO3, check for a “Constructive Criticism Welcome” tag). You can really hurt someone by giving unsolicited feedback, even if you just want to help.

Anyways it’s happening guys and I’m super excited lol
