I wanted to touch on their relationship a little bit more. Solar Flare and Eclipse is my favorite dynamic in all of TSBS.

Back in 2023-2024, all I waited for was to see Eclipse falter. I wanted to see him emotionally crumble and show something other than apathy. Not for any cruel reason mind you, but because I always knew the whole thing was a face to put on. I sat here for years waiting and lingering on every crack the show gave him and I clung to them like life lines.

Solar Flare was my savior.

Not only did he manage to crack through Eclipse’s exterior, he spilled everything. Eclipse always cared about Lunar, he cared about everything. He was more emotionally involved in everything he did than he would ever admit. There are so many loose ends that TEAPS did not tie up, but Solar Flare explained to us. Thanks to him, we watched Eclipse change. I personally believe that his talk with Eclipse drastically turned the course of Eclipse’s life.

Eclipse will never admit it, but I like to think that’s why Eclipse kept Solar Flare around. Half-sentient and AI first, Solar Flare is still extremely intelligent emotionally. He picked out Eclipse’s raw flaws and showed the holes in his personality and desires. He was - in my opinion - the first one to “understand” Eclipse…in a way.

The episode in which everyone packs up, I was devastated to see a possibility of Solar Flare not being brought with Eclipse and his family. I mourned the idea that we wouldn’t get that last inch of closure for Solar Flare in which he stays with Eclipse. Though, in the goodbye episode, we find out he does stay with him. Not just as a robot, but as family.
