Well, not if you’re frightened of saying no (seeing as a lot of people don’t listen or insult you for it). Then you’re stuck. Obviously the guy doesn’t mean any harm, and you don’t do any harm by taking a subtle look at someone, but asking someone you don’t know or hardly know for something sexual is, well, creepy if nothing else. Sometimes a woman will like it, if she’s in the mood, available, and attracted to you, maybe. Using the argument ‘you like seeing men shirtless’, OK, but only if you’re attracted to them. What if you’re not, or what if you’re - shock - gay?

Basically, until men are totally 100% comfortable with women they consider, personally, to be very unattractive hitting on them without provocation, there’s no argument here. I’ve never met anyone, male or female, who enjoys being hit on by people they don’t find attractive in the least. And you don’t know if someone will find you attractive or not, do you? If you want to flirt with strangers, don’t start out with a sexual request.

But the conversation was about a girl he had known for a pretty long time, I believe almost a year, and who he had just at one point asked, because he was attracted to her, but didn't want to talk around it and start pretending things. He liked her, but there was no deeper love going on. So he didn't want to act like that, just because he was attracted to her. There was no pressure from his side (as far a he told me), he just asked her once, and she called him a pig and ass and told him to never call her again."
