Anniversary of APOLLO 11 MOON LANDING

On July 20, 1969, 109 hours and 42 minutes after launch, Neil Armstrong and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin entered the lunar lander ‘Eagle’, made a final check, and the Eagle undocked from the lunar orbiter ‘Columbia’, where the third member of the crew Michael Collins, stayed in orbit around the moon. Partially manually piloted by Armstrong, the Eagle landed 0 degrees, 41 minutes, 15 seconds north moon latitude and 23 degrees, 26 minutes east moon longitude. Armstrong stepped out, and Aldrin followed 20 minutes later: human beings stepped on the moon for the first time. The two men spent 21 hours and 26 minutes on its surface. One of the astounding aspects of the mission was the seeming simplicity of the technology used to get man to the moon. According to Oliver Gassmann, professor of Technology Management, the mobile phone in your pocket has one million times more memory than the Apollo 11’s computer. Same about the procesor: the latest phones typically have more than 100,000 times the processing power of the computer that landed man on the moon 50 years ago.

When I first read Interview with the Vampire, I remember thinking, wow, this is depressing, heartfelt, and deeply sentimental. Then I read The Vampire Lestat and thought, wow, this is vain, performative, and absolutely dripping with yearning without ever actually saying “I yearn.”

I think the show ended exactly where it was supposed to. It leaves us asking questions and feeling like there are pieces missing from the narrative, just like the books do. That’s part of the point.

The characters are all vicious, lonely, traumatized, and completely fucked up. They’re people, but they also aren’t anymore. The ideas of “good” and “bad” don’t really apply to them because they’ve lost their humanity. They’re dead.

The only thing I wish we’d gotten more of is Daniel and Armand, but they’re barely in The Vampire Lestat anyway. Their story really belongs to Queen of the Damned, so I can’t exactly be mad about that.

So. Let's talk about Tommy Kinard's age. Because every time I see him listed as 40 in a current, modern day fic, I lose my mind a little.

Now, obviously , you can do whatever you what in a fic, and I know WHY people do this - some word of god + LFJ's age, with a side helping of That Other Shipper Fandom Doesn't Get to Call Tommy Old if He's Less Than Ten Years Older Than Buck.

However.

Buck is a grown man who canonically dated and changed his life for a woman who was 42 when he was 26 and does not need to be protected from getting his back blown out and his heart claimed by a hot older man.

So, "Tommy Was Born NO Early than 1980 and Is At least 46 in 2026: A Minor Thesis By Me."

This show had ZERO fucking oversight it’s actually good

They’re all nonbinary

The animation for the imposter is noticeably better than the rest of the show

There’s a 12 Angry Men bit

Most of the crewmates hate capitalism

There’s completely unnecessary amounts of blood and sorta brutal deaths

The characters cuss and occasionally flip each other off

Absolutely dumb visual gags

There’s an entire half an episode where they get high on oxygen deprivation and hamster pile naked

During that same bit one of the crew mates is just played by a guy in an inflatable costume in front of a green screen
