A little cheesy for a bird-themed writing blog, but it fits usernames best (plus, just fun).
I am Heidi, a writer, musician, and former theater kid. I have had a blog on here before, but it is time to start over with a new project.
I might have old followers here, but I expect everyone to be new. It's great to have you here. I'd like to introduce a "Choose Your Own Adventure" story I have been working on for about the past four years and will be revising. Here is...
By The Witch's Grace
Choose your own adventure and love interest
After an accident that left her with amnesia, Petra lives a solitary life with her cat and manages her small farm. The townspeople who once helped her back on her feet have long since turned her away due to her rediscovery of her magic abilities, magic which is pure evil to them and seen as a source of corruption. She stays hidden in her home, careful to not be seen while a hefty bounty is still out for her.
Petra had enough on her plate with managing her search for magical knowledge and sneaking into the town for resources, when a snowstorm brought in four strangers in need of a warm place to stay. There are many ways her story could play out; it is your choice which determines how this story will end.
Please feel free to stick around if you are interested, because I promise to deliver something special. More posts to come, such as sneak peaks and character headshots (thanks to picrews until my artistic abilities come back to me).
So, due to the old content on here and needing a good refresh, I will be starting a new blog to focus on By The Witch's Grace. Please feel free to follow, it would mean the world to me. I am working hard to deliver content SO SO much better than before.
The new blog:
The Bird's Corner
I may still post here, supporting my other blog and being unserious here. TBD
Thanks to this lovely, lovely picrew by Crowesn (and my lack of artistic creativity while I am writing), I can show you all a little look into what the new cast of characters is going to look like and their names
Here is Petra, the main character of this story and the "witch" in question.
This is Finn, the father and mage, wise beyond his years. Royal mage and caretaker.
This is Wilhelm, Finn's biological son. Former castle guard and lover boy with a passion for learning the guitar.
This is Perseus, a not-so-human protector who came along just before Wilhelm was born. Former captain of the Royal Guard and ironically very guarded.
This is Elias, Finn's adoptive son. Former guard recruit and master of mischief, yet well-loved and cared for.

It's been over 3 years since my last post here, insane to think about, and oh, how the times have changed. I have put a lot of love and passion into this blog just to let it sit barren.
I want to come back, hopeful that some of you who enjoyed my storytelling are still here. By The Witch's Grace, if some of you remember it, it still lives in my head unfinished. I crave to rewrite it, make it better, create original characters (yet with similar personalities), and make a main character while keeping it interactive.
I hope some of you will follow along. I will be working on rewriting the first chapter and publishing it here, in the hope that someone will want to experience it with me.
In the end, thank you all for growing with me in the comfort of this blog despite the time away. The support has given me confidence, passion, and most importantly, hope.
Lethe, the river of oblivion, rolls his watery labyrinth, which whoso drinks forgets both joy and grief.
-John Milton
So i originally started this as to just do a gray scale challenge because they are fun(hence the last two versions) ans then turned into this masterpiece which i am- so proud of and actually in love with
(This one was supposed to be posted AGES ago but tumblr said fuck you to me so <3)
I've loved others after you and I meant that love when it came, it was genuine and they filled my thoughts like a field in the summer, quickly and under the warmth of the sun
For some reason
Despite such warmth and such an overwhelming amount of life
I havenât been able to forget how I loved you
How loving you was breathtaking and left me in awe more often than I care to admit. Like taking a step into the most gorgeous forest you have ever seen in your life. It's storybook perfect and you just know you will never see a place as amazing as that and as soon as you leave, it fills your thoughts and you long to return
How just talking to you was like a field in the summer, but it was a field of flowers with the most beautiful and fragrant smells and the birds around you sang their songs so perfectly. Every sense was filled with something good
I want to chalk it up to not getting the chance to mourn you when I found out you couldnât ever be mine
But sometimes, I just remember you
And it isnât fast, like a quick storm rolling by and soaking the land. Momentarily leaving everything in a downpour but moving on and allowing the sun to part through the storm clouds
It's like a blizzard that lasts for an unprecedented amount of time. Sometimes only a few hours but others, days or even weeks. The world around you is isolated and the only break you get is devoid of anything living and it's just quiet, waiting for it to get bad again. And even after it has passed, you are often snowed in and have to wait things out till the snow clears enough for you to keep living your life again
It makes me wish I never met you at times. Makes me wish you never told me you loved me. Makes me wish I never saw you for the first time. Makes me wish I never read the things you wrote. Makes me wish I never listened when you told me you felt genuine love for me before we grew apart
Makes me wish I never thought you were the right person at the wrong time
I still wish I could have actually met you. Maybe it would make this longing I feel more valid. Because then I would know you, like really know you. Maybe we would have clicked better. Maybe we would have had an easier time together with a more promising ending
Itâs probably better I never got the chance, it would make everything so much worse Iâm sure. But I canât help but wish that it could have happened
I just want to find someone to fix my sights on and hope I donât get reminded of you. Unfortunately, thatâs impossible
I always remember you
Loving the color green, deep forests, the word frankly, Dunkin doughnuts, white monster, Tumblr, green eyes, red hair, kalimbas, indie styles, jeeps, frogs and turtles even.
And so many more abstract things.
And itâs crazy because I first said something to you in January of that year and in only 6 months, you had me under your spell. And in one more month, I had to figure out how to cure myself of your magic since you moved on without me.
Guess Iâm not that good at finding a cure even over a year later
I hate you for that
That's a lie, but I'll say it anyway.
I'm afraid that because of you, I'll be left waiting in an empty home for you to walk through the door. To say hello like you never left
I'll be waiting in a home youâve never seen, in a place youâve never been to while you are happily living by the sea far away from me
I don't want to sit here on my own, waiting for it to be the right time
But when I hear crickets and think of sitting on a lake dock with a fire burning behind meâŚ
I donât think anyone else will be sitting there but you

Warnings: cursing, id call this slow burn(ish), nothin else its just sweet
After attending enough of his shows at The Hideout, Eddie finally decided to approach you and with an offer...

"Alright, so this one is a bit different than our usual uh.." Eddie trailed off, giving his drummer a quick glance and a cocky smile before looking back at the few pairs of eyes watching him. "Style. But we wanted to give it a try. We're calling it, Lovers Rock."
You watched from a booth in the corner, near a window where you could watch the band but keep your space from the drunks since you were alone. You had first taken an interest in Eddie at school where you talked with his friends on occasion, but after learning of their band and where they played, you took a new interest in him at The Hideout every Tuesday that they were scheduled to play. You haven't missed a show yet. Having grown up on rock, their covers and original songs were right up your alley and it always felt nostalgic hearing the songs.
The two of you had talked some, briefly, and not a whole lot was exchanged, but you two certainly had been introduced to one another though that was about it. Not that you didnât want to get to know him as well as you knew his friends, he was simply⌠a bit intimidating.
Unlike you, Eddie decided a while ago to wait on you until you were comfortable enough to talk to him. He really wanted to talk to you but felt better if it was on your terms as he was well aware of how people saw him. Though, with your more grunge way of dressing and the fact that you talk to his friends so easily and freely gave him hope that youâd come around.
That didnât stop him from wondering about you. What you were like, how you talked, your little habits if he made you nervous. But he waited. Until now. Even if his message to you was subtle.
From the stage, things grew alive as they started to play. People perked up as they realized how different this song was starting. Eddie's eyes wandered the crowd but per usual, they found you. He held your gaze as he sang the lines.
"Are you sick of me? Would you like to be?" He raised his brows a bit at the question, almost trying to tell you it was for you. He was a bold man, as everyone knew, but you were far from stupid enough to believe he would write a song to make a confession.Â
âIâm tryna tell you something. Something that I've already said.â Breaking the eye contact as he continued, unfazed by his own actions. Looking like he was on autopilot but oh, was he aware of what he was doing and quite excited to be executing it.
"You like a pretty boy." A smile couldn't help but pull at his lips. He tried to fight it but especially as he looked at you again, and tried real hard to drop the hints, he felt a little bubble of laughter in his throat at the lyrics which were aimed at himself. All he could do was hope you would realize it. "With a pretty voice."
You furrowed your brows at that. Watching him close now, the tapping of his foot to the beat, the way he strummed and fingered the strings, the way his body swayed just a little as he played and he nodded his head, how a little smile broke when singing certain lyrics, his eyes which floated over the crowd or kept closed unless he was looking your way, the only time he looked like he was really looking at someone. There was a purpose there, you were sure of that.
âBut if youâre too drunk to drive and the music is right, she might let you stay. but just for the night.â
He tried hard to keep from looking your way, almost wanting to avoid looking in your direction at all. In case you didn't like it or secretly did see him as weird and a freak like the vast majority. It felt like a magnetic pull to you though. When mention of being together or of a kiss, he just had to check. Had to make sure you were still looking, still interested, still, hopefully, understanding.
âBecause love, can burn like a cigarette⌠and leave you alone with nothing.â
If you didnât know any better, you would say he was singing about a memory. A situation he has already been in before that he thought about, unable to get out of his mind for so long that he had to use his creative liberties to help get it off his mind. He probably just enjoyed his creation so much that even as on the nose as it was, he just had to perform it. All that threw you off was his looks at you.
If this was about some lover of his, why was he looking at you the way he was and at the times he was. Looking at you in just the right way to put your heart in your stomach and butterflies so heavy you swear they are going to choke you.
He sang the softness of the lyrics so perfectly like he wasnât playing Metallica right before this. It tugged at your heartstrings a bit at how much of himself he was practically putting out there with this song, that someone had this much of an effect on him and was on his mind that much. A little part of your mind was longing for it to be you and wishing he was singing about a hopeful scenario with you. The more logical part of yourself hushed the wish, you hardly even knew him and he didnât know you so in what world would he ever be singing to you, you told yourself over and over.
A sliver of hope couldn't help but remain.
The song came to a slow ending with merged voices singing soft âdo do doâs behind his round-up of the chorus about cigarettes. The 8 drunks and two tables of people clapped and a few cheered. You joined in, watching as he made a dramatic bow with his arms outstretched and a content look plastered to his face as he scanned the people. A bit of hesitation was there until he got to your spot as if he was checking to see if you stuck around which in turn just made you clap and cheer a little bit louder.
Eddie laughed to himself, flipping his guitar around behind his back. He tentatively worked on putting his guitar pick back on his necklace as Jeff leaned in to tell him they were all going to head to the back room and order food.
âAlright, Iâll be there in just a minute. Take her for me will you?â He asked, already taking his guitar off and handing her over.
You couldnât help but watch him. As he seemed to get his pick back on his chain, he got off stage and headed your way instead of walking out of sight with his friends. Not wanting to get your hopes up in case he was going to walk to some other table, you looked down to your table before distracting yourself by stirring the ice around your drink.
âYou really are persistent with not missing a show, huh?â Eddie said, plopping down in the booth in front of you. Your head popped up and you must have looked pretty surprised as he smiled and let out a little laugh. âSorry, didnât mean to scare you.â
âNo, no youâre fine.â Your nerves couldnât help but rack up, making it hard to keep your eyes anywhere near him. âWhy uh, why are you over here Munson?â
âOuch, Y/LN, donât like me that much!?â He leaned forward, hand over his heart and he tried his best to act hurt.
âWell hold on now! You know I didnât mean that-â You leaned toward him, not being able to help a smile as he furrowed his brows and narrowed his eyes at you. âI think youâre lovely, but you never wander over to people after your shows, unless I was just never around for that era, but⌠whatcha doinâ man?â
Eddie leaned back, holding a small smile as he just stared you down for a moment in silence, making you nervous and a bit flustered as you stubbornly tried to hold eye contact but continued to look away.
âWell⌠you know how all my friends do our DnD things, yeah? And I know you like them so I was just wondering, would you like to come sit in a session with us?â You just kinda stared at him for a moment in surprise and awe and he decided to busy himself by digging his rings out of his pocket. âI mean you⌠you can just say no. Just figured maybe that way you can hang with the guys and maybe see that I'm not as big and scary as you might think.â
You leaned back against the booth, crossing your arms as you hummed, watching him as he slowly put his rings back on and tentatively watching you, awaiting an answer.
âWhen is your next session?â
-
âAnd now focusing back on the four of you, as you all walk through the doorway, Dustin you smell,â Eddie stops to smell the air around him and wrinkles his nose in disgust, âSomething rather familiar to you.â
âDo I recognize it?â Dustin asks in a whisper, leaning over as he was deep into the game along with the rest of the party. His character has had a lot of familiar encounters this campaign so it was a safe assumption it would happen again.
âRoll a perception check.â Eddie nods his head toward him.
âUh.. 16.â
âYou sniff the air⌠and it takes you a moment to be able to place your finger on it, but boom,â Eddie snaps and pauses for a second, all eyes on him. âThe sickening smell of leather and fire leaves you nauseous.â
âNo⌠nO WAY, YOUâVE GOTTA BE-â Dustin slaps his hands over his mouth as he acts out his fear and anguish.
While the rest of the party is focused away and trying to figure out the situation, Eddie looks over to you sitting beside him.
After asking three separate times if you were sure about not wanting to join in on this campaign, he allowed you a seat beside him where you could watch his DMing behind his dungeon master's screen that he made just for this campaign. It was actually quite fun to watch the little things he was doing that the party couldnât see. Being the second session youâve sat in on, previously you watched from the other side of the table, but being here is an entirely different experience.
He leaned over to you and you leaned toward him as he often had fun little things to whisper to you.
âNow watch this.â He stood up suddenly, slamming his hands down on the table making everyone whip their heads back toward him. âWhile you four were too busy talking, you all failed to notice a presence approaching, slow and steady. A wooden staff pounds down on the ground and in a deep, gravelly voice a man who is still hidden from the light of the single torch illuminating the room says⌠âOh, how have you aged son.â.... and unfortunately that is all for today!!â
A chorus of groans and a couple of curses strung his way filled the room as he just laughed, putting his hands on his hips and gazing out on them all.
âIâm sorry, but a little birdie,â A sideways glance was cast to you, âHas informed me that itâs gonna start pouring real soon and the majority of you guys have to bike home⌠So shoo shoo! Pack your things up and get goinâ.â Eddie plopped back down on his throne and watched them all scramble around to get home. Since it was Garethâs home, he just grabbed his things and said his goodbyes before walking inside from the garage.Â
âSince Iâm giving you a ride home, will you help me clean up?â You met Eddieâs awaiting eyes and he gave you a little smug smile. âDMS duties.â
You scoffed and shook your head. âYeah, of course.â
Saying goodbye to the rest of the gang as they left, you watched them bike off down the street from the garage with a half-full plastic bag in hand. You halfway tuned out the rustling of things from farther into the garage, too busy sending them silent wishes that they beat the rain.
âGod, youâre just like a worried mom.â Eddie's voice broke your concentration which only got an eye roll and a displeased look from you. âKinda look like one too.â
You grabbed into your bag and threatened to throw a can at him to which he started laughing, holding his hands up to diffuse the situation as he took a few steps away even though he was already on the other side of the table.
âYou are just full of it today, huh? I might as well just walk myself all the way home, probably would be safer.â
âNooo, Y/LN, now just calm down, let's not be rash!â He pleaded in feigned dramatics that you couldnât help but smile at.
âItâs too late Munson! I just can't stand you a moment longer!!â You raised a hand up to cover his face from sight as you turned your head away.Â
You started to walk out of the garage, making your way over to the trash can outside to drop your bag into, hearing Eddie come after you.
âJust hear me out, I beg!â He pleaded, swerving around in front of you, mostly to drop his trash in the bin as well, but also to put his hands together in a prayer, giving you puppy dog eyes and everything.
After giving him a little âhmph!â you turned away though the image of his face was already ingrained in your mind. You were committed to this little bit and did actually start your way down the driveway and toward the sidewalk so you could trek home even as much as you didnât really want to leave.Â
As you swung your hand back in your rhythm of walking, it was grabbed and you jolted to a stop and turned around just to get pulled into Eddie. He obviously didnât think youâd be that off balance and he stumbled a little but kept steady, keeping a firm hold on your shoulder and hand. You looked up at him to find him already looking at you. Heat rose up your neck and you knew it had to be already flushing your cheeks just from that moment of eye contact with his pretty brown doe eyes. Pulling away from him before he could see your face as you fought a smile, you looked toward the ground and expected him to have let go of your hand but you were stopped once again by an unmoving force keeping a hold of your wrist.
He waited until you looked at him to take a tentative step forward. Not too close. But yet, not too far away. He leaned toward you just a little, pink dusting his cheeks as he looked at you.
âStay⌠please?â Eddie whispered a soft plea in a tone you had never heard from him before. It nearly took your breath away in surprise, your cheeks feeling on fire but you just couldnât look away from him. You also couldnât muster up a word and just stood there with your mouth slightly agape. He grinned at you and was slow to let your hand go.
âIâll take that as a yes, hope Iâm not too bold with my assumption there.â He said, voice still soft but no longer a whisper. His eyes broke from yours only when he slightly recoiled from a raindrop landing on his face. You both took notice of the rain now. It was light, but quickly the rain was getting heavier. Eddie laughed with glee, looking up into the storm.
The sound of the garage door shutting made Eddie look back and even though he had things still in there, he shrugged and turned his attention back to you in the rain with a big smile.
âWanna know something Iâve always wanted to do with someone?â
âWhatâs that Munson?â
He put his hand out to you, keeping his dramatic facade as he held one behind his back and he had to speak a bit louder so you could hear him over the now pouring rain. âDance with me, Y/N!â
The use of your first name brought those suffocating butterflies back. You couldnât help but stare at him for a moment as he waited with way too much happiness for you to ever tell him no. Would saying no be the smarter choice for your heart and mind? Absolutely. But with the only risk of falling in love with him, it couldn't make it all that bad of a decision.
âFuck it.â You grabbed his hand and he laughed, pulling you into him with his drenched clothes making yours even worse. He grabbed your other hand and led you in a dance that had no rhythm, no pattern, nothing more than whatever soundtrack played in your own minds. The rain lightened as you two danced around the driveway but unlike the rain, you had no intention of stopping yet.
Letting go of one of your hands, he took a step away and pulled you in against his chest, he held you much longer than you would in a dance set to any pace. He put his hand on the other side of your waist, looking at you from the side until you looked back, waiting for him to twirl you out.Â
Without warning, he tickled your side, and just as you were distracted with giggling he chose to twirl you, and even give you a little spin once you were all the way out, before he met back up with you face to face and took your hand again.
Intertwining your fingers with his, you took the âleadâ and did a little pushing your hands back and forth kinda dance with your feet following the rhythm. He got into it quickly and watched you to make sure he wouldnât miss a move as you went to the song in your mind. As you started to sway back and forth, he matched it, and eventually, it just devolved into you both replicating several popular dance moves, one after another.Â
The rain had lifted to sprinkles now and in your drenched state, you managed to trip over your own feet. Eddie moved to catch you just as you caught yourself but looked up at him in a bit of surprise at how quickly he reacted. He laughed a little bit and stepped back to give you space but equally held his hand out to you.
âWanna go get food?â You took a second to take him in, he had on his leather jacket over the hellfire t-shirt both of which were dripping wet. His hair was a mess from the water and especially from the dancing around, some stray pieces were plastered to his cheeks and his bangs to his forehead. He was glowing though, he looked alive and full of bliss at the moment.
A smile crept its way onto your lips as you grabbed his hand once again, leaning back as you relied on his strength and sucked your teeth.
âI hope you know I didnât bring my wallet.â
âThat's perfectly fine, I planned on paying anyway.â He said as he started to lead you to his van but you were quick to stop him this time.
âOh wait, Eddie,â He was quick to look at you. You didn't often use his name when talking to or even referring to him so it must have caught him off guard. âWe both are uh⌠drenched. I donât wanna get your seats wet.â
âOh, you genius little bird, you. I actually have towels in the back! I almost forgot.â Letting go of your hand, he jogged to the back of the van and you followed. âI keep âem for 'just in case' moments and finally, they have made themselves useful.â
Eddie opened the back door and crawled in a bit before coming back out and handing you a black towel as he had one to match, quick to use it to wipe the drops of water on his face and work on getting his hair a little dry.
âJust throw that sucker on your seat and itâll be fine. If it seeps through that, sheâll dry just fine Iâm sure.â He said, voice a little muffled as he was busy scrunching his hair.
You watched him as he did so, in his own little bubble as he cared for his hair. It was the first time seeing him care about his appearance, you were right to assume he did as his type of hair had to be cared for to look as nice as he did. The fact that it was an obvious priority for him at the moment was just such a sight to see for some reason.
Being halfway bent over, he took notice of the lack of moment from you and leaned over more to look at you from behind just for you to notice him and meet his eyes. The urge to laugh hit you both at the same time, you slapped your hand over your mouth and he held his lips together tightly to hold it in though his smile was making it hard.
âY/LNâŚâ Eddie drew out your name with a smile, standing up straight slowly and you had to bite the inside of your cheek to not burst out laughing from the embarrassment of knowing he knew you were watching.
âMhm?â You were hardly able to get out, barely bringing your hand away from your mouth with a dangerously big smile.
âIf youâre gonna watch, at least start drying yourself off or something. Werenât you the one super worried about my seats?â He leaned toward you to further his teasing and you rolled your eyes, looking away only to glance back at him as he narrowed his eyes in suspicion of you.
âAlright! Alright, my bad!â You put your arms up in defeat as you walked around the other side of the van and heard him laugh from the back.Â
You opened up the passenger door but stood next to it, messily drying your hair to get it at least not dripping. You managed to waste enough time that your clothes, while still soaked, werenât dripping anymore so you toweled your clothes off before Eddie appeared on the other side, opening his door.Â
âSoâŚâ You started to get his attention which wasnât too hard. He draped his towel over his head and leaned on his seat with his head resting in his hands as he waited for you to talk. âWhere are you thinking of eating, Munson? I donât actually know what you like.â
âEasy, you know that little diner a few blocks from here?â
âBennyâs? The one that's known for its shakes more than its burgers?â
âBingo,â He giggled a little as he sat up and took his towel off to put it over the plush seat. âFavorite place in Hawkins right there, I always thought I didn't like Suzie Qâs but Bennyâs gave me a solid change of heart.â
He kept rambling about each item on the menu as you copied him with your towel and got in, to which he did the same. The air was on full blast of cold air as it was hot earlier today but just left you two freezing now. He turned it off even though he hardly looked like he was paying attention to anything else. As he started driving, the ramble about food turned into a story about Bennyâs which had you both in hysterics.
The usual 8-minute drive felt like a few moments. Despite his demeanor and his horrible reputation, despite doing nothing to earn it, Eddie was so easy to talk to. He matched energies so well and kept a good-paced conversation, talking as much as youâll let him but at the same time listening to whatever you have to say for as long as you want to say it.
Pulling into Bennyâs, there were a couple of other cars there but it looked like a rather slow evening. You moved to get out, but he was quick to stop you.
âHey hey, wait a second.â
âO⌠Okay?â In pure confusion, you just watched him as he hopped out of the car, following him with your eyes as he passed the front of the van just to get to your door and open it with a slow dramatic wave of his hand to usher you out. âOh my god, youâre ridiculous.â
âItâs just part of my charm.â He said with pride, taking your hand as you got out and shutting the door behind you just to do the same gesture, not as extra this time, before you could walk into the diner.
Together, you sat in a booth in the corner of the diner, there was one couple from school and a couple of older folks catching up with one another. You decide what you want and make sure to add a shake to your order and Eddie goes to put it in for you. As you sit there looking at him, you just can't help but notice how much of a mess his hair is from the rain. He did well in drying it off but it was just incredibly poofy as it was drying and it was getting in the way as he kept pushing it away while waiting to get change back.
You look down at your wrist to check and to your luck, you still had a big green scrunchie from one of the cheerleaders you were friends with. She didnât talk to you anymore so it wasnât like she was ever going to ask for it back.
Eddie headed back over, shoving his hands in his jacket pockets as he gave a sideways glance to the couple that gave him nasty looks then whispered and laughed to themselves.
âMunson.â You grabbed his attention and before he got to the booth, you scooted out of your side and pointed at your spot. âSit.â
âFor⌠what? If you wanted the corner seat, you could've just told me.â He muttered with a laugh as he sat.
âNo no, well, if youâre okay with it,â You pulled the scrunchie away from your wrist to show him. âI wanted to put your hair up for you.â
âOh geez, alright.â He was quick to comply and turned around so he was facing the window and had his back to you.
You approached him but put your hands on his shoulders to let him know how close you were. Taking one hand away, you pushed all of the hair off of one of his shoulders then did the same to the other side with your other hand. You made sure to be super gentle when messing with his hair in case he was tender-headed and gathered the length of it in one hand. His hair was incredibly soft and with how poofy it was right now, it was plush in an odd way.
Loosely tieing the majority back, you leaned over to separate some that evened out with his bangs, but mostly just because you thought it would look cute.
âIâll fix those in just a second.â This elicited a sweet chuckle from him.
Taking your time to make sure everything looked nice and even, you tied his hair up and tightened it as gently as you could.
âAlright, face me now please.âAnd god, you could look at him forever if he would let you. With the mix of the evening sunlight and the softness in his face as he looked at you, he looked ethereal. You couldn't help a smile as you slowly shook your head and he matched your smile but gave you a confused little head tilt to which you shook your head to dismiss his curiosity
You grabbed his cheeks to keep his face still and fully facing you just as an older lady came over and sat down the ordered food on the table for you both.Â
âHere you kids are, enjoy.â She said with a little wink.
âOoh, I already am.â You whipped your head back to him before you could thank her which just caused the two of you to get the giggles. You patted his cheek a few times to try and get him to sit up straight.
âOkay, okay, shut up, lemme do this so we can eat.â He obeyed and sat still as you fixed his hair to make him look pretty as he just watched you with a soft, dopey smile. Just as you were checking everything to make sure it was even and looked good, Eddie reached up and straightened out a bit of your air and tuck some behind your ear before speaking in that soft tone again.
âIâm sure I look fine, Y/LN, sit down. Youâre worrying your pretty little head over my hair a bit too much.â Brushing his fingers over your cheek teasingly right before pushing you away in a gentle manner and sitting right in the booth.
You scoffed at him with a little laugh to follow and sat across from him, taking one of your shared order of Suzie Q's and resting your head on your hand.
He apparently got a shake as well and sat back, taking a moment to enjoy it, closing his eyes as he savored the flavor.
"It's been too longâŚ"
"Not to break your focus here but I gotta question actually." His attention popped back to you at that, clearly very curious.
"Continue."
"Alright, so since I would say we are friends nowâŚ" You paused, watching him to make sure you weren't in the wrong to assume so. He gave you a content nod. "And I love your music so, how much would it be to ask if I can sit in on practices? You all do practice right?"
Eddie laughed and rested his arms on the table, leaning toward you with a smug smile. "Can you just not get enough of me, birdie?"
"Answer the question, you dick!" You hissed at him, trying not to let yourself get too flustered.
"If you really want to, you can sit in. You've gotta be ready to give us constructive criticism though, no sitting in for free." Giving you a critical look, he relaxed and brought one leg up into the seat to have up by his chest. "Talk about this more in a minute, eat while itâs still nice and fresh. The fries are better that way."
"Better not just be a way to get me to shut up, Munson."
Much after his revival, Wilbur decides to try and mend some of his relationships and find himself. After seemingly gaining a new sense or power, Eret is the last one left...

âTommy!? Are you ready?â Wilbur called, staring up at the wooden ceiling where Techno's room was stashed away above. It had been 15 minutes already and as much as Wilbur loved the cabin, he was a busy body and more than ready to get out of there.
âYeah! Yeah, jus- hold on! I want my cloak and I know he has it in here!â Tommyâs panicked voice rang back, followed by the muffled sounds of items being strone about.
âWell hurry! Weâre gonna be late if we donât leave in the next 5 minutes. Iâm gonna wait for you outside!.â He said as a vague threat to maybe get him to quicken his already hasty search.
Wilbur was slow to get up, using the wall to push him to his feet with a grunt. Living in only a cold climate for a few weeks now seemed to be taking a toll on his resurrected body, everything held a dull ache when he wasnât snuggled up in front of the fireplace. It bore a similar feel to the bone-deep cold he had felt in his days in the desolate train station. The cold seemed to just seep into the concrete, never allowing it to warm, and the occasional fog from the tunnel brought a new wave of arctic chill with it. The cold seemed to be a continuing factor in his life.
Itâs not the most enjoyable temperature with how it weighs on him now, but he holds onto the hope that with time things will settle.
Buttoning up his coat, long due for a wash on a warm day, and popping the collar, he hoped it would give him a bit more protection from the cold. Wilbur opened up the door and stepped out, being quick to shut it behind him to keep the warm air contained. He scrunched up his face as the chill hit him and let out the breath he had been apparently holding which presented itself as a whitish cloud before dissipating.
Little things had been catching his eye as of late. Colors specifically. The different hues, the contrasts between two colors, the way certain colors compliment each other, but most importantly to him, their meanings. This in-depth observation seemed to be coming to life lately as well. Especially with people.
"Okay Will!! I'm here, I'm ready, let's go!" Tommy shouted excitedly as he burst through the door behind him.
Tommy was a passionate red, holding a fiery love for all the things he laid his heart on and cared for. He was an eager orange and a friendly yellow. All warm colors that seemed to radiate off of him. These warm tones seemingly granted him anything he set his mind to. The colors burned off of him nonstop, growing into a roaring flame when he was raring to go and dieing down to an ember when worn out and tired.
Now, he just bounced around like an excited little candle flame.
âItâs been so long since Iâve seen Eret, Will. I really hope sheâs doing well.â He hugged a blue wool cardigan to himself, Wilbur assumed he wasnât able to find his cloak and instead just stuck with what heâs always worn on cold days. Though his nose was bright red from the bite the chill had.
âMe and you both. I saw him briefly a while ago, but I'm not sure it really counts. Hey, remember when you told me about trying to revive me?â His gaze bounced to Tommy when not immediately getting a reply. His flame was dimmed and his eyes focused on the snow underfoot while in thought.
âYeah, why?â He didnât sound off, but his eyes looked a little glassier than they did a moment before. Wilbur turned his attention away, shoving his hands down hard into his coat pockets.
âGhostbur, but⌠yeah, howâd you know that?â It was hard not to feel his eyes on him, Wilbur looked to see a confused-looking Tommy. âDid Phil tell you?â
He snickered a little, raising his brows and contemplating toying with the boy just a little. Looking away, he sighed and kicked his feet ahead as he walked.
âNo, I remember seeing it.â
It was only slow-motion flashes that he got a glimpse of, but by god were they all he clung onto when in the confines of that god-forsaken train platform. Wispy feathers floated in the air as he locked eyes with Phil, diamond sword in hand and angry expression that was quickly melting into worry. A face he knew quite well. Looking back on it now, he can see Phil's colors even though he is well aware that in the moment it was invisible to his eyes. His damaged wing was repaired by a glowing light green, matching feathers hung in the air beside the real ones in their prolonged descent to the ground. If having a glowing wing wasnât magical enough, that same glow stretched out into ivy vines, with a bit of differing tones, that stretched around his right arm and around his neck. A beautiful sight that always catches Wilbur's attention when Phil is faced away from him, the green highlighted his caring nature but also putting a subtle emphasis on his potential destructiveness.
Despite Phil being the starring role, he caught a glimpse of the other four. They all watched him so intently, expressions differing just a bit but they all were just as focused on the outcome.
Wilbur didnât understand the meaning of the moment he was sucked into at the time. The out-of-body experience shook him to his core, not seeing out of his own eyes as everything looked slightly foggy other than a few vibrant blue shapes that he could never figure out what they were.
âI think you guys almost got me back then because I got a glimpse of it. That then was the last time I saw Eret, it was just a glimpse though so it hardly counts.â Tommy made a soft sound of awe that made Wilbur laugh. He could see his flame growing in his peripheral vision.
âWell, are you excited?â He asked, the childlike wonder coming through in his tone.
âUh⌠yeah, yeah you could say that.â
As excited as he could be to try and get on good terms with them again. Wilbur wanted to mend some of his relationships after coming back and after not getting far with Fundy, though grateful for being able to even speak to him face to face, and after sealing his hatred for Dream, he wanted to speak to Eret. He wasnât on the worst terms with them, but it certainly wasnât the best. Wilbur did hold a silent grudge for what Eret did, betraying them at the most crucial time. Though he didnât have much room to talk since he did the same and even used Eretâs famous words as inspiration. The mere thought brought back flashes of slamming his fist down on that button as Phil screamed and rushed to shield him from the coming destruction. It all happens in slow motion in his memories. Maybe to prolong the pain.
He sent letters to Eret recently to ask if they would be alright to talk and âfigure things outâ, he even offered to do things on Eretâs turf, their castle. Surprisingly, they agreed but refused to meet at their castle and instead wanted to bring it somewhere he never thought they would say. They wanted it to be on top of the TNT device Dream built over what used to be LâManberg. He took into consideration how it was a pretty even ground they would be on. Neither party would have much of an advantage there and with how much Eret loves the history of the country, they certainly wouldnât try to murder someone and disturb how things were left. So he agreed.
Eret was a reasonable individual. A smart individual. And they would be smart to agree to live on civil terms with Wilbur, the past behind them both, as he has no plans on leaving any time soon.
Just as a precaution, he chose to take Tommy with him. He was confident Eret wouldnât do anything but there was no doubt in his mind he would be safe with the boy at his side. He knew Eret pitied the boy for all he had been through, so there was no way they would make any rash decisions to further Tommyâs bad experiences and give him one less person to trust. Tommy had been eager to be with Wilbur as of late. He guessed he was happy to have his big brother back even if it was just in the title alone.
The trip to the meeting spot felt shorter than he would have liked, Tommy was most likely to blame with all his talking to keep Wilburâs mind anywhere but the task at hand. He had to admit to himself though, seeing the boy so happy and bubbly was refreshing. There was still some kind of spark missing, but he nearly seemed as happy as he was before everything turned to shit. At least on the outside and at least for the moment.
Once Tommy led him up on top of the structure, now overgrown with plant life, he took the lead and could have easily spotted Eret from a mile away. There was no doubt they were always meant to be royalty. The deepest and most vibrant purple was clearly their color, envy filled Wilbur more than it has for anyone else.Â
In such a desperate search for his own color, he could never find it. Even in trying to force it to show up, trying to force the rightful, powerful red then try to find the serenity to earn his calming green. It never came.Â
Oh, how he longed for a royal purple such as Eretâs, their being manifesting in a resting lion that sat behind them though still towering their 6-foot frame. As they both grew closer, he was able to see the white specks that floated around them and that glowed brightly in the lionâs eyes. If he could kill and earn a color such as theirs, he would say screw it to peace and make that lion his own.
âEret! Your majesty, itâs been too long!â Wilbur spread his arms wide as he greeted them proudly.
Be open, be kind. Make them have reason to trust you.Â
They were silent. Watching from behind their tinted glasses and arms held behind their back, simply observing. They wanted to see through him, see his intentions. There was a spark of something there as Tommy peeked from behind him to wave.
âHi, Eret!â Their brows slightly furrowed, jaw just barely clenched, posture fixing to appear more confident. It seems bringing him was well worth it already.
âHello, Tommy. And Wilbur, itâs been a very long time.â Their voice was cold.
âThat it has and let me tell you, I am back and well ready to make a good life this time. And that all will start with you, my friend.â Wilbur spoke strongly, bringing his arms back to his side and relaxing his body and his features. If thereâs one thing Wilbur never lost, it was his ability to manipulate, especially when it came to how others perceived him. His hands went back into his pockets as he got a comfortable distance from Eret, about 7 feet. And he smiled what was to be taken as a genuine and hopeful smile.
âIs that so?â They were holding back and it was clear Tommy was the reason. The boy stayed right by Wilburâs side, peeking over his shoulder with the most joyous of energy to see him reconnect with people.
âIt is and itâs the entire truth, I swear it to yo-â
âHold that thought Wilbur, Tommy?â Eret interrupted, letting their hands fall down their side. Their lion standing up and fixing its eyes on Wilbur.
âUh, yeah?â He clung to Wilburâs arm, head cocked to the side.
âStep back for me, will you?â They asked with such a sweet smile.
âOh, okay, sure.â No questions asked.
Five steps back and Wilbur got a chill down his spine mixed with a pit of nausea in his stomach. He snapped his head back from looking at Tommy to Eret just to see them rushing him.Â
âEret! No! Hold on-â Wilbur tried backing up but knowing Tommy was right there made him pause despite his brain screaming at him to complete the motions. Before he knew it, Eretâs shoulder bashed into his side and his balance was immediately thrown off and what could you guess. He was falling.
Never did he think his second life would end that quickly and he was moments into accepting that, watching Eretâs face grimace at him below till they got a hard shove and reached forward to grab Tommy when he tried to jump after. They failed in getting him, only holding onto the cardigan which he just slipped out of before coming down right after Wilbur.
Panic seized him, but at this rate what was he to do other than accept the fate they have been thrown into. Tommyâs body fell faster than his own and in no time he was able to grab the boy's arm and pull him into a tight hug. Tears pricked his eyes as Tommy buried his face into Wilburâs shoulder. He was too young to be losing his final life. He had no business being on his last one and resurrected like himself. And that they would be dying together was an impossible fate for them both. A warm feeling passed through him though, despite it all.
He was grateful. He wasnât dying alone. Every other time it was just him, but this time, as unfortunate as it was, he was going to have someone until the very end. And it was Tommy. He trusted Tommy long ago but he didn't know how much of that feeling was returned. This one action spoke a lot of words he didnât have the time to think of. One spelled it all out for him though.
Trust.
Like a button was pressed, a light shone from behind his eyelids. He opened them to be met with the most impossible sight.
There was irony in the color that swirled itself around their figures, almost protectively. It twinkled and glittered so perfectly. Wilbur has been so desperate to look for any other color to be his own and help him fill the voids of all the relationships he let corrode away. Never had he thought to look back at what brought him back to this place, what led him on so he would be able to start his life again.
The blue.Â
The physical extension of Ghostburâs trust, of his trust.
It felt cold, like a cloud wrapped around them both and despite how much his eyes burned from the wind, he couldnât will himself to blink. Too scared it would go away and leave him, forever taunting his memory.
He held Tommy's body tighter to his chest, feeling a sob escape his thin frame and being immediately filled with guilt. He was sure Tommy wouldn't be able to see this now but put a hand on the back of his head regardless. He felt a kind of selfishness, not wanting Tommy to think of his ghost in their last moments.
The mist shifted as they grew closer to the ground, it swirled and grew into its own mass. He could make out a body floating right above his, then the hair as it developed, then the face and the clothes. Then pupil-less eyes stared right back at him, holding onto his arm and smiling oh so kindly.
Even though he had only met him once, sobbing and features contorted as he sat helpless on the freezing concrete, his face was unforgettable. Being graced with such a familiar presence felt impossible. Ghostbur.
He was delicate as he reached out, putting a hand on his living selfâs cheek and turning his attention to Tommy, buried in his arms. With a gentle touch, ran a hand over Tommyâs hair and let a finger run over the blue hair tie that matched his wool sweater.
With a sudden, fluid movement, he hugged the two and he could swear he felt the pressure of the embrace around him.
âYouâve done good to him. Despite everything, he trusts you, keep him safe for me.â The ghostly voice, bittersweet in its chilling delivery, was the last thing he was left with. Just as the canyon walls were swallowing them and the ground was only feet away, Ghostbur melted into the mist before it enveloped them both.
Wilbur shut his eyes tight, readying himself for the impact. But it never came.Â
The only thing on his back was a cold sensation before the gentle pressure of the dirt and the rocks settled there. Then as if gravity just remembered their existence, they were fully dropped to the ground, and Tommyâs weight laid on him fully.
He sobbed in Wilburâs arms as they lay on the ground, unmoving as he told him he was okay and assured him they were both alive.Â
Despite the numbing shock that gripped his flesh and his mind, he hugged Tommy as tight as he could while he watched slivers of blue float around him in a mesmerizing pattern that refused to leave his side.
Trust saved his life. Despite all of his wrongdoings, he was a trustworthy blue. How ironic.
Finding his color in the moments before possible death. He couldnât decide which was crazier, that this newfound sense of his has finally become his own or that his own ghost is who granted it to him out of trust.
I have a new fic that im hopefully gonna get posted with some art tomorrow

I just stood there, eyes on the dreary, endless sky. Droplets of water pelted my glasses, occasionally missing the glass and stinging my eyes or adding to the water running down and dripping from my face.
The rain had soaked through my clothes now, plastering them to my skin which would make peeling them off later a chore. The cold was setting in now. Sinking in deep, through my skin and into my bones. The joints in my hands already developing a soft ache
I could have stayed there forever, butâŚ
"Hey,"
The water dripped from my hair as I moved my head. I felt numb, blank, like I wasn't alive. Just an object in the way of the water feeding the eager plants below my boots.
You made me a living thing again. Heart beating faster than when I was just looking at the blanket of clouds protecting us from the harsh universe. Making me aware of my breathing again. Conscious of my body.
I wish you would have let me remain in my trance a little while longer.
