The soft bodied soldier let out a warm chuckle of her own, “Sorry, got the quiet footsteps from her.” She admitted in her lighthearted apology. Then he brought up his father, “Yikes. Sounds awful. Mine, is well, nonexistant. Don’t even know the guy. Anywho, yeah, my mom’s an engie. Sometimes we’ll get in the kitchen and start baking treats for the team. Mom uses the excuse of "boosting morale” but she just loves cooking for everyone.“

It almost made him feel bad that he try to know his father very well because some people's fathers don’t even acknowledge their child’s existence. 

Almost. His father was the embodiment of satan and a snake. 

“Oh shoot, where have my manners gone… Im Jodie, my mom is actually a RED engineer. I enlisted on my 21st birthday last december, so Im actually fairly new. And im sorry for scarin you, thought my foosteps were ah, more audible then they were.” She replied, getting a bit sheepish at the end.

“Uh-huh...” At least he wasn’t the only one with close relatives on the base, though now that he thinks about it it’s probably more common these days. 

“Yeah, if I didn’t know any better, I would’a thought you were a Spy.” Soft chuckle and a small wave. “I’m Vince. I got family here, too, but he’s on your team..., and he’s an asshole. And a literal snake. It’s a long story.”

I’d be pretty fuckin’ pissed, I can tell ya that much. (No pun intended, you bastard.)
