Somnet Valley Boogie - 7/25/26

Wrote this the other day for the Somnet Village theme, pretty happy with how it came out for its relatively short time spent writing.

This is the first song in my 7-ish songwriting career that I intentionally adhered to a musical mode or scale or whatever on. I wrote the bass line in (I think) the 12 bar blues scale? I'm probably getting some terms wrong but who cares, its a song post not a damn research paper.

It also ended up being a little Reggae-esque, a little hop-hop-adjacent, but there's no harm in that. A games first town is allowed to be a bunch of chill guys.

less than 24 hours til I inevitably have to cross some things off my "I thought of it before Deltarune" list

Lets hope the casualties arent extreme this time round. I'm very excited btw!!

i swear to god every single chapter since I started working on Canon has done this. I'll play it and be like “oh well there goes an idea i had but done much better than i wouldve”, though tbf a lot of times its for the better.

originally the three party members were gonna have vastly different fighting styles based on different games/genres; Nils was a shooting gallery, Charlie was typing of the dead, and Matthew was Punch-Out.

but then CH2 came out and did the Punch-Out thing and I just kinda went “ehhhh maybe not” which tbh was MUCH for the better. i dont even particularly love Punch-Out

Cannot wait for Canon to be fully out so I can stop worrying about this lmao. I'm certain it'll be out after CH7 which is uhhhhh a horrifying thought.

crossed is too defensive feeling imo.

her body language is very inspired by Darth Vader and I dont think you ever see him emote in any way that suggests insecurity like that.

crossed arms is like "i want to communicate to you that I am better than you" which i think tells on yourself a little bit. like whay do you need to do something to show that youre better if you really just are. Gwen really just is, or at least thinks she is

anyway heres menacing semi-clenched hand. more of an active threat (especially when the person doing it can shoot fuckin lightning blasts from her hands)
