He's friendly, but it takes some time for you to be considered a friend by him, and even then, he only has one best friend

He thought that hat was strangely familiar.

“Sam!” Forgetting the kindly opened building, he instantly hops onto the unsteady pedestal of fliers without a single thought regarding it’s stability. It felt obligatory to bring himself as close to eye-to-eye level as he can, as eye-to-knee level just didn’t feel quite as fitting for a reunion like this! Oh, sure, he always knew they’d see each other again, and there’s no denying it— when he was done eviscerating, defenestrating, and lobotomizing the nerds that brought him here, he’d just… find a way back home. Whatever machinery the white coats (That’s the in thing to call them, right? He’s hip now!) used couldn’t be that hard to operate! Sam’s worked through some pretty elaborate, convoluted puzzles in the past— it couldn’t be much harder than them! And if it was, then. Well.

That probably wouldn’t be the case.

But this— this wasn’t really factored into his less-than-elaborate plan. How could it be? When you ask some stranger to open a door for you, there’s a really good chance that it isn’t your long lost companion from another universe. There isn’t a single magical psychic power in the world that can predict dumb luck like this! After so long of having to do things on his own, though, it’s a welcomed surprise, and he can’t be bothered to hide his excitement, let alone something that should be as obvious as that. … Not that he’ll just nose dive into mushy stuff, or anything. It’s just been five months. Psh. C-Come on.

"I can’t believe my wanton paper thievery actually paid off!" He exclaims, tapping a foot on the tower beneath him as though to clarify. "It just goes to show that through sheer persistence and general obstruction of small business advertisement, you too can get your best friend kidnapped alongside you!”

"I was the lost dog? Max, are my sides really that chubby?" Sam took out the poster he had stored away in his coat, and eyed it criticizingly.  Yep, Sam was kidnapped just like Max has; and well he can say that he's a bit glad, since he's found his partner in crim- I mean justice. But this also does solve the vandalism case Sam had picked up. There's another mystery solved by our dog detective friend.

"I'll say that these posters are one of your greater works, Max. It almost tops your visual portrayal of how shrived up the world would be if you earned world domination." Sam crumbles up the poster he had kept, and threw it over his side. Hey, it's not like it's his job to worry about litter. 

Okay maybe it was, but he didn't care right now. He's got his little buddy back by his side again. Now Citta's crime success rate will drop now that Sam and Max were back together. That and the destruction of the city might as well improve ten fold.

Anyways, Sam was glad that he could socialize with his partner again, and something tells him that Max was more excited than he was. Sam had only recently got here, so he was suspecting that his little pal wouldn't be here without him? It's buy one psychopath, and for free get the complimentary detective!

The fact that he had all the time to make all these posters, it must of meant Max actually put effort and all his time to something? Now that's a full blown horror movie right there.

"Say Max, did they take your gun away too?" Sam patted his jacket's pockets in shame, knowing full well that his good ol' revolver isn't in there. Oh well, it's not like he ever hit anything anyways.

But still, it was a part of him he wanted to keep close to him. It's like parting a mother from a child. How could someone do that?
