Giving Warframes theme songs (that aren't the ones in game)
So, we all know DE are a banger music studio in disguise, no doubt about that. However, Warframe being the extremely stylish game that it is, has me playing certain songs in the background while playing certain warframes. I thought I'd compile all the ones I think fit for a given warframe.
The criteria for this are almost purely vibes based - be it lyrics, melody, or a random youtuber who used the same song on the same warframe (execute me for plagiarism). Some warframes have several different songs that fit them, and I will mention all that came to mind, but I'll try to pick just one song to represent them. I won't do every warframe, ain't got that much varied music taste, but I've got for about half of them, going in alphabetical order. Add your own.
Atlas - Ain't That Funny by Naota Tanaka
First up is the boxer with swagger, and the master of the 'money punch.' Atlas isn't as crazy as some of the other warframes, but he's still juiced enough to disintegrate a falling asteroid with a single punch. He's gotta have a theme with power but composure that also hints at his farming grindset, which I think this hits quite well. Honorable mention to Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J.
Cyte-09 - Snake Eater by Norihiko Hibino
What can I say? Stealthy military man. Cyte would rather snipe than stab but, all's same when we're going based off vibes here. The themes of the song soooort of mesh with the themes of Quincy's story in game, if you want more solid reasoning (no pun intended).
Dagath - Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie
Again, not much to say here. She's an undead horsewoman, more specifically a dullahan, but whatever. The grungy drag of the song fits Dagath's playstyle of spreading curses and disease. Honorable mention to Dig Up Her Bones by Misfits.
Dante - Powerful And Bright by Phyrnna
Dante's similar to Atlas, as in he's stupidly powerful but a little more composed than other warframes. Therefore, a properly magical but fast paced song like this one fits his playstyle of constantly casting different spells to blow everything up to smithereens. Honorable mention goes to Jump Into Battle by Phyrnna as well, which is very similar to this one.
Ember - Just Like Fire by P!nk
This one was obvious. Fire for the fire girl. Additionally, it's got that individualistic aspect that fits with Ember's more rebellious and punkish theme. Honorable mention goes to Take Back The Power by The Interrupters, going deeper into the punk theme.
Garuda - Stains Of Time by Jamie Christopherson
An appropriately violent and fast paced song for the queen of gore herself. Too bad she doesn't have any lore to chew on so it can be a bit more accurate (always bet on connection to Nitokh). I suppose it's appropriate that the boss fight this plays in is the same in which Raiden learns to cut loose, like Garuda very much loves doing. Honorable mention to Megalo Strike Back by Toby Fox.
Gauss - Gas Gas Gas by Manuel
Now, I know our fast boy's not a car, but the speed is still very much present! A couple of Initial D songs fit this guy really, but if we were to get a bit more niche... then this remix of Pepsiman's theme fits really well on a Pepsiman cosplay, which is exactly what I got!
Gyre & Protea - Maniac by Carpenter Brut
Gonna break the alphabetical order for a sec because I honestly couldn't decide which of these two deserved Carpenter Brut's amazing remix of Maniac more, so I just decided to give it to both of them. Both are athletic jumpy women in their own rights, Gyre the ballerina and Protea with her flips and hops, and both have the electric and/or technological aspect Carpenter Brut infuses their music with.
Harrow - Crucifixion by Kevin Penkin
Now, Harrow was a bit hard. There is a slew of different songs that could fit a holy man like him, pretty much any Powerwolf song fits, so instead of sifting through their entire discography, I decided to go in the horror direction and pick this little unused gem from the soundtrack of Made In Abyss. Really strong stuff.
Hydroid - I'm Shipping Up To Boston by Dropkick Murphys
Davy Jones the warframe. With all the shit he causes in the middle of a mission, an explosive and piratey song like this just fits. The swing of his Nami Solo Incarnon goes perfectly with the swing of the song, and when shit explodes from his Kuva Zarr and ability barrages, I can't help but yell the lyrics.
Inaros - WAR by Heaven Pierce Her
Sand man here deserves a theme that embodies how absolutely unkillable he is. It also doesn't help that I mostly just use the War greatsword with him, which I actually managed to somehow make viable. It's like I.. managed to roll the boulder to the top of the hill :)
Ivara - Faster Than A Speeding Bullet by Valve Studio Orchestra
Scout's theme in TF2 is a little unfitting for him. He's fast, yes, but he's nowhere near as stealthy as this song suggests. That's why it's perfect for the huntress herself!
Khora - Judas by Lady Gaga
The latest warframe I've latched on to, after finally figuring out a build that is not only viable but comfortable to play solo, is one kinky lady. Chains, whips, a cat, and destruction with a single button press. Admittedly, there's a tiny influence from the Gojo vs Sukuna memes. All this leads me to believe that if Khora made music, she'd be Lady Gaga. Honorable mention goes to Absolute Territory by Ken Ashcorp.
Koumei - HIIT by 2KE
Ear destroying brazillian phonk somehow just fits when you're gambling for your damn life. Koumei was the frame with which I did my longest ever survival, and I just blasted this the entire time. I was riding some sort of high that made me lose track of time completely. So yeah, I say this is her theme now.
Kullervo - Immortal by Adema
There are several frames this song fits on, but Kullervo being the edgiest of them all, I say he wins the crown. With his 2's augment, he literally becomes immortal. Stabby stabby, tenno.
Lavos - World Revolution by Yasunori Mitsuda
Ah, Lavos, my most reliable G. This song is specifically the orchestral remix made by Malcolm Robinson, and it was the song I listened to while I solo'd EDA using Lavos. It fits for several reasons, the most obvious being that it's the 2nd theme of Chrono Trigger's very own Lavos. Next, I think it encompasses not just Lavos's power, but also the fact that he is absolutely SLEPT ON for being the MOST VERSATILE FRAME IN THE GAME, do NOT try to argue with me on that >:( Jokes aside, I do not usually listen to this while playing Lavos, but it stayed with me for that, in my eyes, practically historic play in EDA.
Limbo - Bang Bang by K'NAAN
This motherfucker, the iced out to the gills dimension-hopper, has to have a laid back, stylish song for his theme, because that's exactly how he plays in game. I thought of giving this song to both him and Gauss, because both have similar vibes, but I found better options for Gauss so this one goes to Limbo. You could also just pick a random song from the Jujutsu Kaisen OST, as he has what is pretty much Gojo's domain expansion as his 4.
Mesa - Blood Red Retribution by BlooGoober
A banger track from the Ultrakill modding scene, robotic gunslinger describes Mesa to a T. There's not much else to say, other than the fact you can slot in a thousand different western movie songs as Mesa's theme.
Mirage - The Ultimate Show by N. Mitome, C. Sekigawa & Y. Baba
Now the obvious choice here would've been A Stranger I Remain because it belongs to a character also named Mirage, but I decided to look a little longer this time, and I think I found something even more fitting for the whole destructive jester and master of illusions theme.
Nokko - We Are Number Wah! by Brandon Yates
The shroom master, the bounce master. He has to have a theme just as bouncy, energetic, and silly yet no less powerful as him. Brandon's insanely good track somehow fits perfectly for Nokko's whole vibe.
Nova - If I Am With You by Yoshimasa Terui
Another warframe with similarities to Gojo. I picked this for Nova for one reason - her 2. Nothing fits better for her 2, and thus her as a whole. It is the epitome of playing Nova. That's it.
Oraxia - Fight Unseen by Joakim Sandberg
Oraxia is in a similar vein as Ivara, being stealthy and fast, but she's a lot more terrifying than Ivara. The beginning of Fight Unseen almost sounds like a fairy tale song, fitting for a fairy tale like Oraxia herself.
Rhino - Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler
An unkillable soldier, maybe even more so than Kullervo, but not as edgy as him. I get this feeling of Rhino just being this game's "old reliable", with massive defense, straight damage buffing, a bit of movement and CC. He's been there since the start, and with nothing but a gun and a sword he'll take on the entire universe without breaking a sweat. When shit gets rough, you hold out for a Rhino. Honorable mention to The Trooper by Iron Maiden.
Sevagoth - Dragula by Rob Zombie
My favorite stand user, dead man, and spaceship drifting king, Sevagoth. Imagine for a moment that his railjack is a car and I think you'll see the appeal in Dragula being his theme song. Dark, edgy, it feels like it really DRAGS, just how Sevagoth's Shadow drags enemies towards it. Honorable mention has to go to Diamond Is Unbreakable by Yugo Kanno, Josuke's theme in JJBA part 4, because come on, Sevagoth's a fucking stand user.
Styanax - The Trooper by Iron Maiden
Similar vein as Rhino, an unkillable soldier with his 4's augment, but unlike Rhino, he embodies the soldier aspect stronger than Rhino, even though he's a hoplite instead of a musket-wielding horseman. I can perfectly imagine the yell from the song being the same yell Styanax yells when he uses his 4.
Temple - All I Want by The Offspring
Now, the easy choice here would've been to put Starman by David Bowie, and while I do absolutely adore Flare's David Bowie-ness, I don't think that song is hard enough for Temple's and Flare's aesthetics. Instead, I put All I Want here because it can both be interpreted as Flare yelling at Scaldra and at the infestation within him. Honorable mention also goes to Fight The Power from the Gurren Lagann OST, I believe the composer for that is Taku Iwasaki.
Uriel - Bury The Light by Casey Edwards
Honestly, any song between Subhuman, Devil Trigger and Bury The Light could fit Uriel, given all the characters associated with him, but we're gonna pick the most epic one here. I think it kind of fits Roathe, while something like Devil Trigger fits the operator's experience in the Old Peace quest, while Subhuman just fits Uriel himself.
Valkyr - Fed Up With Hate by Crasso De Odio
There are a thousand different hate-filled songs that fit this angry kitty, so I am just going to pick my favorite, and also use this moment to expose you all to one of my favorite bands. That's it, that's the explanation.
Vauban - Building Steam by Abney Park
This song fits much better for Vauban's Citadel skin, as it really makes him look like a steampunk robot. Despite that, the song still fits his engineer aesthetic and strategist playstyle.
Voruna - FORCES by Susumu Hirasawa
I nominate Voruna to be the Guts of Warframe, by the same criteria as the rest of this list - vibes. I think destroying what is sort of the in-universe version of Epstein's island after serving on it for who knows how long gives her the honor of that title. You can definitely style her to look like the berserker armor, being a wolf and all, and she's much more likely to carry around a massive slab of iron than, say, Valkyr. Honorable mention goes to Werewolves Of Armenia by Powerwolf for obvious reasons.
Xaku - Fancy Meat Computer by Chuck Salamone
The funky little thingamajig Xaku is both weird and stupidly powerful. You're telling me the void up n' fused together three broken warframes into a whole new functional one, and then that chimera somehow got primed??? Bizarre, even a little scary. This song encapsulates those aspects pretty damn well.
Yareli - VS Sayu by James Landino
A song that is honestly quite similar to Yareli's actual theme in game. If you gave Yareli a screen and a mic, she would become pretty much EXACTLY like Sayu from No Straight Roads. Spreads love, loves water, but unlike Sayu, is absolutely ready to beat the shit out of some evil bastard while styling on them.

I have a little backlog of unposted art. Might as well fill the dash with 'em, starting with this one.
A couple weeks ago I finished Fuga: Melodies Of Steel 3. I've been thinking about it and its themes ever since, as well as the themes of the Little Tail Bronx series as a whole. I may misremember some things from previous games, it's been a while. Spoilers below.
So the main overarching theme of the three fugas is quite obvious: the bonds we share are what give us the strength to push through the hardest times in our life. Typical shonen stuff, it's good shit, good soup, and I think Fuga's done it even better. It's poetic how the pilots of this god-slaying tank are the people who, arguably, are the most helpless in war - children. The whole group is made up of pretty much all types, even a former enemy like Britz, yet they are forced to work together due to these harsh times. This theme of bonds giving strength is also sort of reflected in Flam Kish and her will to see the tank and the children burn because of her father's death.
This is reflected even harder in the game's endings. It's not particularly hard for the children to win in most battles - the Taranis is the fucking Taranis after all, it's the nuclear bomb that can literally "Reset" (erase) people and things from existence. But the easiest way to utilize that is for one child to sacrifice their life. This is where it gets good; Fuga takes the trope of a heroic sacrifice and says "fuck that." Fuga asks you to hope, to dare to dream of a better solution, where everybody can survive, and then fight like hell to achieve it. You may save the world, but an ending where you sacrificed a child is never a good ending. It asks you not just to fight, but to build the bonds between the children as well, otherwise you cannot bring out their full strength, as well as the strength of the Taranis, or in Fuga 2's case, you can't stop Vanilla from betraying the crew. Time and time again, it is the diamond-strong LOVE of these children that awakens some dormant power within the Taranis, a light in the darkness, that guides them to victory.
One motif I found interesting yet I think wasn't explored quite enough is the children's innocence. These are literal children, oldest being 13, that are forced to fight in war, forced to grow up in order to survive. General Merlot pointed this out in almost every scene where the children are the topic yet aren't in the room, saying that their top priority should be to protect the children. Mei's kidnapping at the hands of Maestro touches on this too, it was absolutely harrowing seeing that scene where they find her hooked up to the machine, just utterly heinous shit. It's also very present in the soundtrack of the game, with how many easy-going childish melodies there are in the songs, and it's even felt in more dramatic themes like Flower On The Trails or Ensemble. I appreciate this fact was addressed, but I don't think it was taken nearly as far as it should've been, the children are mostly treated as adults (although that could also be another thing that feeds right back into that very motif - the children are treated that way because they were forced to grow up, that's the tragedy.)
Another theme that is present in the series yet is strongest in Fuga 3 is one from Solatorobo - the idea that there is no "perfection", no "correct" way to live or be, worrying about such things is fruitless and only leads to anguish. This theme pops up when the Juno and humanity are involved, Maestro being its embodiment in Fuga 3 and is most obvious in the final scene with him where he reveals his face to the children, expecting shock, yet the children just shrug because "we all have our differences." In the end, it really was just Pierre who was worried about the humans, and look where it's got him! Not even his two colleagues, the last living humans were worried about them anymore.
This then leads me to my biggest question (ignoring the hidden cutscenes, dear lord) by the end of Fuga 3's true ending: why was Blutwurst the final boss of the true ending? We've just defeated Maestro, there was no doubt we were going to stomp the ever-living shit out of Blutwurst. Even in his freaky mechanical Akira-esque form, I knew he'd be a pushover, and he was. There's no real "flow" to that final chapter, it sort of falls flat. Thinking about it, I believe I came to a good conclusion as to why; Blutwurst is the antithesis to the story's themes and message.
He is a man who was so worried about this false idea of "perfection" due to his inferiority complex that he sacrificed everything in order to get closer to it. It may have gained him a high-ranking position in the Berman military, as well as bucket-loads of power, but it was never enough, he never really had anybody's respect. He was utterly alone by the end, at which point that false ideal melts away to reveal what's truly festered in his heart, that being utter hatred. Hate and rejection of one's self or another eats you from the inside out until you're not even human. He was at the very end to serve as contrast to the children - he may be big and scary, but compared to the children's literal god-awakening and god-slaying bonds, he is nothing.
This did however make me ask - why wasn't he in Maestro's place then? Or rather, why couldn't Maestro have been as unhinged as Blutwurst was? Did Maestro's role necessitate a certain level-headedness? Maybe. One could also say it had to be Blutwurst because Blutwurst represents the true face of a nazi, or at least a type of nazi, a self-loathing pile of misery that masks itself in ideals.
Whatever the case, Little Tail Bronx stays winning, like always.
