otterville, ontario - a small village in oxford county in southern ontario. despite its small size, the village of otterville has a lot of interesting history. otterville was initially settled by quakers, who, beginning in 1829, encouraged recently emancipated slaves from the united states travelling through the underground railroad in canada to settle in this community, which offered prosperous farmland and stability. you can read more in this small town canada article, which was my main point of reference in this write-up. the canada post office in otterville is charming, but there is not much available information online about the history of the building itself.
