i think he probably didn’t want will to feel like mike has any expectations about their relationship after he came out? plus they haven’t spoken one on one in a while as well so it would definitely feel very suggestive if mike said btw i’m bi and also hiiiii willlllll. yk.

i think for will’s bday party, he was trying to suss the vibe out? perhaps not necessarily assuming anything would Happen, but hopeful something might? cause now he’s Out and showing up to will’s bday party with this thoughtful present that will mentioned in passing during a conversation once, so maybeeee will would be so appreciativeeee that he would rememberrrrr that mike likes boyssss btw and will is a boyyyyy and they were talking for hourssss every day around this time last yeaaarrrrr and shawn mendes voice there’s nothing holding me baccckkkkkk and they would kisssssss. or somethinggggggg. but then derek was there and clearly will’s boyfriend about it and mike said oh. bye. 😊

I’m excited to reread the first meet up that’s lowkey filled with sexual tension heheheheh and also gonna be better because of the “friend who fuck a little” line that is in embedded into the concrete of my brain

they were super cool with it! this is perhaps a bit unrealistic for rural indiana, but derek’s teammates & most of the more popular kids aren’t bothered by the Gay piece of it. i think that’s due to a couple of things — derek’s confidence, the way he doesn’t really care what anyone thinks, and the fact that he’s actually very good at lacrosse and therefore a pretty vital piece of their team, so i think that everyone would care more about That than who he’s dating. i think will had kind of faded into the background prior to dating derek, so i think he probably had to take a moment to adjust to hanging with this new crowd and having attention on him, but i do think they were all pretty kind to him! not necessarily including him without derek being there, but generally receptive to having will around and engaging with him. post-break up, i think derek’s friends/former teammates are at best acknowledging will politely and at worst ignoring him entirely — derek isn’t around to influence them either way, and i imagine that he’s probably not really keeping up with anyone in hawkins anyway considering how far away his school is, so it’s not like they have to have any beef with will or anything.

will we ever see a oneshot/story on the summer steve and jonathan get together?
