Sharp tones and scolding words is what it takes to finally jolt sense back up Kyle's spine, the fuzz of stagnation quietly receding from where its spiraled grasp attempted to hold his rotten brain still. ( Like a circuit in his brain crawling to a halt, always rewired rewired rewired REWIRED REWIRED REWIRED-- )

"..Sorry- Ah. Y'seen somethin'..? Or...sayin' somethin'..?" ...Not his finest moment. Though- maybe it was fine? He couldn't place it, the final days with the others hadn't been particularly...social. Trying to find the right words was like swimming face down in the mud.

In hindsight, perhaps damn near lunging to cover the decrepit door frame with an arm was, perhaps, not the most subtle option Kyle could've gone with. But here he was, confined to his choice like cuffs to a chain as the attempt at a casual lean left scorched and weathered wood creaking ever so slightly under the new weight.

"That's-- y'sure..?" Oh real smooth save there, airhead. Now what? "I...ah....Never really heard laughin' before out here, but there are coyotes sometimes..? Could'a been that..."

( Of course, of COURSE the kids picked now to play a game. Only they would pick the most suspicious guy around as their basis for a round of chicken-- )

here's the thing about mummies- why the hell is anyone opening up their tombs? you were resting. you were peaceful. but someone intruded, barged in and broke down your walls and stole all the parts of yourself that you cherished, and then blamed you for being angry. blamed you for chasing them down no matter how fast they ran and how many obstacles they put in your path. and you know what? they deserve your rage. they destroyed something sacred. they didn't give a shit, and they wouldn't ever have lamented their actions had it not been for you- the real hero- getting up and showing them that they don't have the right to destroy and pillage as they please. that is your home. that is your body. nothing they do can take that from you. if not for you, they probably would've kept breaking into tombs and disturbing restful lives without a second thought. you won't be repayed for your good, but i hope you know you are a saviour in your own right.
