Cam looked back into Maya’s eyes as she spoke but seeing and hearing the hurt and sadness he couldn’t help but cast his eyes away. His heart physically hurt as she pulled her hands away from his. “I-I-I panicked. I’m sorry. I just...I couldn’t face telling you why I wasn’t ready to have sex yet.” He shook his head “But you’re right, what I did wasn’t fair or kind to you and I really am so freaking sorry, Maya. I was trying to not hurt you and all I ended up doing was hurting you even more.” Cam could feel his heart speed up. “Uhhhhh...yeah. It’s kind of a long story though.”

Cam winced internally at Maya’s comment but tried to not let it show on his face how much it had hurt. Cam couldn’t help but scoot closer and reach out for Maya’s hands when she asked if it was something that she did that had led to Cam breaking up with her. “Of course you didn’t. You were perfect. You are perfect. I couldn’t...I couldn’t handle taking things to the next level and I didn’t want to deny you that. You deserve someone that can do those things with you. Someone who isn’t messed up and going to drag you down. My mind...it goes to bad places sometimes and I don’t want to take you there with me.”
