Jacob stood at the other end of the bar, watching the other shoot back what had to have been their third or fourth shot in the last hour. Even after all this time, and knowing what he did about her tolerance, he still couldnât help but be impressed with how much she could drink. Then again, it also stressed him out a bit because it meant she was just going to keep ordering more drinksâthat meant more money added to her tab which at this point must have been so large, he wasnât even sure she could afford to pay it off. Even with her fancy job. He never really hounded Camila about it though, mostly because she was a friend that he had gotten to know over recent weeks and he truly did enjoy and value her company. He sidled up beside her, trying to keep the concerned look off his face. He was hardly one to criticise, especially giving his own track record. âHey. So whatâs on your mind? You donât usually do tequila unless something is up.â
When Camila first met Jacob, he had been simply someone to talk to while she drank. However, over the few weeks and many meetings, she found she really enjoyed his company. He was a kind and compassionate ear to her troubles. He of course was quite funny and made her laugh. And in return she offered to be an ear and shoulder as well. Tonight though she had gotten another round of nasty messages and one voicemail from her husband who couldnât be finalized as her ex husband as quickly as she wished. She had came to the bar without him, but quickly texted Jacob her location. When he arrived, she was already two drinks in. Though Camila had hinted at her job as a jewelry designer, she never alluded to how successful she was over in the UK. Her bill could be quite long and she would not harm her bank accounts at all. Jacob sat down and she saw the concern though he tried to hide it. âIâm terribly transparent, arenât I?â She inquired with a humorless laugh. âMy lovely husband has not been happy with the latest stipulation I have asked for.â She informed him and tapped at her phone hiding the nasty messages.Â
Iâve really learned, and would fight for on any job now, to have that time with the director to explore a role as much as possible. I guess Iâm at that point in my career where I feel able to do that. In the past Iâve been afraid to speak up because I would have been afraid of coming across as âtrickyâ or âdifficultâ or âemotionalâ.

âOh shit!â Watching too late as the drink spilled all down the front of her out fit. â Damn, Iâm sorry. We are a little to rowdy⌠um here.â he said reaching for the napkins that one of the bartenders started to hand over to him. Davut came to Worth a Shot regularly . So he had a pretty good relationship with most of the bartenders. Tonight was his friend and co-workers birthday. A night that started early at his place, where they did a couple of pre -game shots. Before heading over to the bar. Davut didnât know if everyone in their section was someone his friend knew or if they just joined the party but at this point⌠did it matter.
Davut did his best to help her, not wanting to overstep to o much. Last thing he needed was to get slapped with a harassment charge. Holding out his hand to take the use napkins when she was finished with them.Â
â You should let me make this up to you.â gesturing towards the group that was laughing and carrying on. â I can order you a new drink and you can come join us. Less likely to get ran into again if youâre with the crew.âÂ
Camila cared for her clothes certainly, but she never would get too upset for something she couldnât wash out. Of course she was wet and could feel the cold liquid becoming sticky. He offered the napkins and Camila quickly started to try to mop up the spilled liquid. Some of the napkins were quickly becoming soaked as they sucked up the spilled drink. She started to pile them on the bar counter, shooting the bartender an apologetic look for the mess she was now creating.Â
Her could be assailant started to help her as well and Camila gratefully accepted his help. Together they tried their best to clean up her dress and she asked for a glass of water so she could wipe at her skin to get rid of the spill. Finally, they seemed to have reached their limit of how much they could improve the solution.Â
âI suppose that depends. Are you planning on spilling this new drink on me?â Camila asked with a teasing smirk. She glanced over his shoulder at his group. âWhat are you celebrating? Are you sure I would not be an unwelcome guest?â

Upon closer inspection, Josie realized her single of choice was so out of her friendsâ league, it would be near embarrassing to bring them up mid-conversation. Well, that, and maybe a spark of personal interest weighted heavily towards her changing direction. Shooting the woman a lopsided smile, she took a moment to appreciate her elegant long neck meeting delicate collarbones in a welcoming v-shape. The British accent was a surprise to her and her brows rose on her forehead. âYou are a long way from home, huh?â There was a story there. âThis place is pretty curious⌠Lots to see.â Josie took a swig from her beer to pace herself, lest she make herself sound overly-excited. âDo you mind if I join you for a drink? I promise I wonât bore you.â
Camila took a sip of her drink and eyed the new companion over the rim of her glass. She was entirely cute and Camila certainly was attracted to the rough around the edges vibe the other had. She saw the way the other eyed her to fully get a look at her and Camila felt a bit honored by such a look. It felt good to shake loose some of the cobwebs of her ruined marriage. Even a fleeting glance of another to let her know she was still attractive and desired was welcomed. âI certainly am. Perhaps Iâm a little too obvious that Iâm from out of town, hm?â She inquired with a teasing glance. Camila was certainly aware that while she was here her British accent would always signal her as an outsider. âWell, as long as you can uphold that lofty promise, I wonât argue!âÂ
The bar was much more crowded tonight than Camila had expected. When she had visited the previous week, it was much less crowded. Tonight, there seemed to be a party of some kind if the almost rowdy crowd huddled together was any sign. Someone wore a silly birthday hat and Camila could appreciate the group of mates celebrating someoneâs special day.Â
Camila had a spot at the bar, but when she returned from the restroom, she found her spoke taken. Leaning against the bar, she ordered another drink and turned back to the room to survey it. There had to be another spot she could sit, yet her prospects were growing slim. Camilaâs eyes were scanning the room as she started to wade through the crowd. Her head was turned so she missed the form that was entirely too close. They collided and Camila gasped as the liquid spilled all over her front. âOh, bollocks!âÂ

I love singing live, actually. And Iâm dying to sing in a role, whether itâs in a musical or a biographical film about a singer. Itâs always been one of my aspirations.

Willow can not claim to be the best at directions. If this part of town didnât have such shitty reception, she would have immediately pulled out her phone. âBishop Street?â she repeated, a slight panic running through her as sheâs put on the spot, as sheâs being asked for aid sheâs not sure she can give and oh no she feels tense and her heart is beating too fast. And then a lightbulb goes off in her head and she sucks in a breath and then manages a weak smile. âUm, Iâm not sure where 1019 is exactly, but I think I know where Bishop Street is. I was wandering around town yesterday and I stopped at the sweetest little photography shop there, all these antique cameras and old print photos.â She realizes that sheâs rambling. This woman has asked for directions to her destination not a recounting of somewhere Willow had gone. âUm if you arenât pressed for time I think I can get us back to that street. We might make a few uturns, Iâm quite new here myself and still learning landmarks.â
If it were possible, Camila would have been able to smell the fear coming off of her in waves. The fear and nervousness was almost clear as day in the otherâs eyes as they grew wider when Camila stopped her. How quickly she felt conflicted to feel both amused and sorry that she had upset the other so quickly with her innocent question. âYes, Bishop Street. Could you point me in the right direction?â Camila clarified with a gentle and encouraging smile. The nervousness was almost adorable. Yet, as the other offered to take her to the actual street, Camila finally saw the light! This would be much better than simply telling her the direction of the street. âIf we can find our way to the street, Iâm sure it will be very easy to figure out the order of numbers.â The pattern would be established then and Camila would be able to quickly find the possible store location. âI would appreciate that greatly! Thank you.â Camila shifted her bag to the other arm and allowed the other to lead her. âIâm new as well.â She laughed though perhaps her accent gave away her status as a foreigner far too quickly.Â

a typical day for rock involved waking up after snoozing three different alarms, despite knowing they werenât going to get out of bed until the last possible second; throwing on whatever clothes were semi clean that they could find in the rush; and riding their longboard as fast as they could to get to the trebled man two minutes late and hoping charlotte doesnât notice. they should probably work on their time management skills, but at 27, old habits die hard. they just werenât a morning person. cruising down the street on their board, they were in their own little world until someone stopped them. âhmm?â putting their foot down, they came to a stop and pulled out one of the airpods in their ears. âbishop streetâŚâ they repeated, trying to think of where that could be. âiâm going to be completely honest with you, i donât really know if i do. i wanna say itâs either two blocks down on the left, or maybe itâs back down that way and on the right. iâm probably the worst person to ask for directions.â
When help came to Camila finally, she held out hope that this was perhaps someone who was a local. Yet, as soon as they started to talk, Camila felt such hopes of finding the location of the shop quickly dashed. She followed their directional cues and looked back and forth on conflicting sides of the street. âYou do not know where it is, do you?â Camila asked with a touch of amusement in her question. It sure seemed that way that they did not know where Bishop street was, or even the general direction she should head. âIs this horrid service only in this area of town or does it extend to a broader area?â Camila inquired. Perhaps she could head to a direction where it would clear up and she could then get the map app to load properly once more.Â

âI would happily break my hand on your face,â she deadpanned, kicking back the last of her beer and letting out a content sigh. The conversation had steered into the topic of picking up women at the bar, and the two men sitting across from her complained about how hard that was. âIâve literally never seen either of you try.â Maybe the alcohol had simply gone to her head, or it was the wish to prove the two they are just too scared to make the first move that fueled her decision ( she could be feeling benevolent that night as well, but that was a little more unlikely ), but Josie got on her feet with the intent to do a little leg work for at least one of her friends and proceeded to look around in search of singles. A person sitting alone in the crowded sea stood out to her and so she walked over there under her friendsâ hisses of come back here and took the seat across from the stranger. âHey, howâs it going? Are you waiting on someone?â
The bar was very crowded tonight, Camila felt as if she were lucky to find a stool at the far end of the bar. Though she may have appeared dainty and lady like, Camila certainly could throw back some whiskeys. She was already on her second one and was playing with a swizzle stick as she fought the urge to avoid her phone. Another meeting with her ex husband was coming up to settle some more of their divorce. Her lawyers were contacting her relentlessly and she turned the unceasing vibrating phone over. She took another swig of the whiskey which brought with it a much needed lovely burn in the back of her throat when a lovely distraction appeared. What luck! Camila smiled coyly and ran her finger around the rim of her glass. âHello.â She responded in an obvious British accent. âNo, I just so happen to not be waiting on someone.â

MICHELLE DOCKERY as LAURIE BARBER âś DEFENDING JACOB, episode 3
dawsonparraâ:
though he began with somewhat hopeful eyes in the beginning of the conversation, as soon as he saw that familiar loading screen, he released a sigh. âSHIT.â but in this situation all he could do was laugh. a sudden pair up in a dead zone. âyeah, actually iâd be down with trying that. at least weâll have two pairs of eyes to remember where weâve already been. plus twice the chances to ask more people DESPERATELY for directions.â and out came another brief fit of laughter in attempt to lighten the mood. âwhats over on bishop street? if you donât MIND me asking, of course.â while he asked, his hand simultaneously reached into his jacket pocket for his pack of cigarettes, grabbing himself one. âdo youââ he reached out his hand holding the pack as an offer if she wanted one. Â
Of course Camila had hoped he would have been able to help her without her giving up and hope and calling the relator or a cab. Though, those hopes were quickly dashed. He was as lost as she was. Though, his accent betrayed that perhaps he had a hope of finding it all a little less foreign than her. âWell, I suppose two people desperately and hopeless lost may attract more attention than simply me.â Camila did not want the attention though and was glad for most of her anonymity here in America. âI do feel far less pathetic being lost by myself.â She informed him with a charming smile. Though of course it quickly faltered at his inquiry. Camila had escaped here where many did not know who she was. She was hesitant to tell him the true extent of her business to avoid the risk. âA potential location for a store I may be opening.â Camila informed him. She did not mind saying what kind, but she hoped to avoid the name and just what number this shop would be in a chain of them. The cigarette was a welcome distraction and she took one he offered. âThank you. Iâm afraid I do not see as many people smoking here as Iâm used to.â The Brit admitted, especially in pubs and bars.
