Dennis remembers the smallest things, and it makes everyone around him want to die.
He's so used to being looked over and slipping through the cracks within his own family, which means he has all the time in the world to observe, catalogue, and care about the people who do give him the time of day.
On the day Jack is going to visit his wife, Dennis brings him a bouquet of lilies of the valley and chrysanthemums. Jack only mentioned once, offhand, when he was sure no one was paying attention, that they were his wife’s favorites when she was alive.
When he visits her grave, he’s crying for more than one reason. Because he’ll always miss her, and he’s somehow found a way to move on with two amazing men, and Dennis is so sweet and attentive already. He wonders if it’s so early to call this warm feeling love.
Robby loves having quiet time to decompress after shifts, tough or not. Dennis never really had anyone to talk to during his years at college, but he noticed how Jack made sure to be extra quiet after Robby came home and gave him space. Now, minutes before the man arrives, Dennis puts their duvet covers in the dryer to warm them up so theyre nice and toasty.
He has a cup of Robby’s favorite calming tea on standby and a few finger foods so he can get some nourishment. Robby receives a nice kiss from Dennis and Jack before they leave him be, and the shower is already running at his preferred temperature, allowing him to feel the love that surrounds him, not just from Jack anymore.
Trinity loves physical contact. But she hates it when you mention that she wants physical contact. If she slides in way too close on their couch when there’s plenty of room, Dennis doesn’t comment and simply leans his head against hers. If they're walking and she links their arms together, he presses in closer.
People at the Pitt soon learn there’s no reason to have two chairs put out for them because they’re gonna find a way to squeeze into one. Yes, Dennis can feel the arm of the chair digging into his left lung and Trinity’s elbow digging into his right, but she looks relaxed, so he’ll power through it.
Dana is a foodie. Dennis saw it in the way she would be one of the first people to try anything new that entered the staff room. Her job is thankless and beyond stressful, and he'll be damned if he didn't show her any appreciation. His mother had painstakingly taught him each and every one of her recipes, and over the years, he had perfected them while adding his own twist.
The red velvet brownies with cream cheese frosting he brings her have her experiencing a new plane of life the moment they hit her taste buds. She was a fool to share it, because now she has to hide any of the sweets Dennis gives her from the grubby hands of her coworkers.
They don’t know how someone so sweet and quiet came into their lives and decided knowing them was important. They do their best not to take advantage of his kindness.
