being asexual is fucking awesome, actually

Yeah this stupid deer has done a lot for me. I’ve been with Hazbin since the pilot first aired on YouTube at an age that was probably too young to be watching it, and I’ve heard online since day one that Alastor was asexual, and I’ve pretty much always known I was but it honestly didn’t resonate too much with me back then. For a long, long time, I considered my asexuality as a ‘less important’ part of my identity. I didn’t think very much of it, it was just kinda there. I knew I didn’t wanna ever have sex and had no problems with that. Hell, I don’t even know how much I’d enjoy kissing someone on the lips. But then, a little while ago, when Viv mentioned online that they were actually going to explore Alastor’s asexuality in the show beyond that one line, I found that I was really excited. I had this silicone asexual bracelet that I began wearing around the house for weeks straight after she announced that, and I started getting into more fan content exploring Alastor’s asexuality. I not only really enjoyed it, but found it immensely relatable. Like, “Oh my gosh, I’ve had these thoughts! I’ve felt this way! I’ve experienced this before!” and that’s when I realized that asexuality, -and aromanticism!- (though I’m allo ace myself) aren’t defined by a lack of something else, they are their own complete, unique, distinct experiences! I’ve even met two online ace friends through being in the fandom, and talking to them about being ace as well as exploring asexuality through Alastor has helped me become a lot more in touch with that part of myself. Now it’s just as much a normal, natural, beautiful, mundane, and celebrated part of me, just as much as every other part of me and my queerness! So yeah! That’s all.
