Iâll tell you my sins, you can sharpen your knife ||Jordan&Cat
wrovghtâ:
Though Catalina was not as religious a woman as she had been in her youth, she still had a measure of faith in people rather than gods, and often in keeping up the appearance of faith for the well-being and comfort of her family â whether distant or close by, somehow her family always knew â she made appearances at certain churches at certain times. If she appeared to lose her faith, there would be interventions; there would be an attempt to save her. But Catalina knew one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt: she was beyond saving.
Her eyes were passing over the statues inside the church, lingering by the door as people flooded their way out, and noticed the sudden stop in motion; she had places to be, and while she wouldnât exactly shove her way through a crowd of parishioners, she wanted to see what would cause them to stall in their movement to flee the church with its inadequate air ventilation and all their layers having caused them to get sticky with the heat blasting to stave off the still-winter chill that permeated the air of Roseville.
At the sight of Jordan there, mumbling to herself like that of a mad-woman â and then directing it towards the crowd proper at one point, even â Cat politely made her way through the bodies of those who would block her, her face unsmiling but a polite âexcuse meâ uttered each time.
One hand came out to rest on Jordanâs bicep, and though it was not hard enough to hurt her, it was firm enough to not be ignored as Cat moved to guide herself and Jordan away from the crowd, offering over her shoulder, âShe has just experienced loss.â
It seemed to sate most of them, though there was the clicks of tongues and other admonishments at the apparent loss of faith over loss of life, but Cat didnât bother to respond. Sheâd lost plenty and sheâd seen the same looks when her faith had dipped. Appearances were everything with them, sometimes.
âYou cannot just go up to people and start doing that.â Cat muttered as she moved the woman away, releasing her arm after only a span of beats â in Jordanâs state she didnât seem like to stop Cat from the initial motion but Cat would take no one under force⊠the Accords mattered too much and even that could be seen as breaking them â and turning to face Jordan, âYou have to hold it together. Not always, but do not let anyone see you break in public, todo bien?â
Cat and Jordan were not friends, and to be truthful Cat could count the friends she had on one hand â and on even fewer digits her friends of wolfish persuasion â but she had not found hate in her heart when she and Jordan had met. Wary, yes, but not openly hateful; what had happened to Cat had not been Jordan, and she could recognize that, but it didnât mean she would expose her neck any time soon.
Jordan wanted them to hear her and yet when they did, she wanted them to ignore her. The truth of the matter was, she was confused, her head was clouded and mixed up with so many things right now, she didnât have a clue what she really wanted. There were certain things she knew she couldnât have--changes to the circumstances both she and Caden had found themselves in, but they were empty wishes, not something that was achievable at all.Â
She was setting a dangerous path on the road to tailspinning and yet she couldnât even see it. The young wolf was so determined to cope, she could no longer see she was doing the complete opposite.Â
Her expression did soften slightly when she saw Catalina, until she gripped hold of her bicep. Unfortunately any touch from someone she didnât trust--and that was most, would garner a less than positive reaction, one that was born out of sheer instinct and fear. Yet the firm hold she had on the young wolf, caused her to yank away her arm forcefully and immediately go on the defensive.Â
âDonât!...d-donât touch me!â
Her teeth clenched together tightly and dark brown hues bore intensely into the others as Jordan walked away from the crowd.Â
âNo I havenât...not me!..I...itâs....â
Confusion reigned down on her facial features as she tried to speak coherently. Did this female know about the loss of her pack?--or was that not recent enough? Jordan decided she wouldnât know that, which meant she was referring to Noah. Swallowing thickly, she waited until the congregation had walked the other way and her brow furrowed.
âI didnât know him...Iâd never met him...itâs not my loss..itâs...Caden...itâs....that was his brother...I...I didnât know him...I---didnât....I didnât know him.â
She repeated the same words over and over, her hands reaching up to hold either side of her own head. It felt like it was going to explode so her fingers gripped hold of her hair.
âNobody can see me break. Yeah, I know...I get it!...itâs all about control--all about being the stronger person...be better....being someone to be proud of...being like my....my....â
She inhaled deeply to try and regain her composure, finally letting go of her head and running a hand down her face. She didnât bother finishing her sentence. It wasnât important to anyone else anyway and Jordan wasnât keen on revealing how she thought every other wolf was so much better than her, especially her dead pack and Caden. The truth was that Jordan Kelly wasnât fully in control and it was only luck and circumstance which had played a part so far.Â
maxxclaybornâ:
@callofxthewild
Max was still emotional. Still angry. Still upset. But he wasnât raging anymore. He wasnât out to kill anyone anymore. He was only out to help his pack. The werewolf pushed his own emotions away, what was left of them after he had a talk with Harlow. He couldnât remember the last time that he had genuinely talked to anyone about his feelings. He always held it inside and kept it to himself. But somehow, Harlow was able to get through his wall and once she had, his emotions had poured out to her. If it werenât for her, heâd be either out killing people from his bestial rage, or heâd be unconscious due to her knocking him out.
The werewolf walked around his territory, waiting to see if he could find anyone that needed his help. His pack needed him and he could feel it. Yes, it was his brother that had died, but Max had always been the one to piece people back together during horrific events. Now would not be any different.
As he made his way towards the town houses, his ears picked up on something strange. He furrowed his eyebrows as he moved forward quickly, trying to find out what was making the noice. When he rounded the corner, he froze in place.Â
Jordan.
Cadenâs threats echoed through Maxâs mind but he shoved them away. She seemed to be having a hard time and he wasnât just going to leave her there to deal with it on her own. âJordan?â Max asked, keeping himself away from her. He knew that if he took a step forward, it might trigger her to do something. âJordan, itâs going to be okay.â
Sheâd been doing relatively okay or at least she thought she had. Regardless of the struggles that were still ongoing, Jordan had been pushing herself to try and get some normality back into her life. But now this?âthis made everything that was already raw, become so much worse, an open wound that gets more injury and she wasnât coping. Yet the person she would turn to had just lost his younger brother and so Jordan tried to reign in each bit of her emotion to show him he didnât have to worry about her when so much grief was on his shoulders right now.
So she put on a facade, something she wasnât used to doing with him. Jordan needed him to focus on his own well being, not be concerned with hers. Even though she knew he always would be, she had to at least attempt to handle things on her own. Â
The youngest wolf could feel her own psyche start to fray, pieces of her well-being were being pulled at left right and centre. Yet all she could think about was how selfish she would be to fall apart at the seams when Caden had lost so much too and now this?âthis was too much.
No, she had to hold it togetherâbe strong.
The only trouble with that was, she was fooling herself and betraying every emotion which was still far too raw. She was still grieving and hiding how bad she felt because she wanted to be the one who could show him she was okayâshe was there for him, it was always going to crack her own mind in other ways.
---today was a good example of that.
The young wolf had taken some of the little wooden animal figures sheâd carved and made a makeshift stall from a small fold up table. She wasnât pushy--she didnât try and force a sale, but yet she still seemed to attract the wrong kind of attention. It didnât take long before things started to get out of hand and the three guys from the Ice palace sheâd had a run-in with a couple of days ago, decided to upturn the table and send the wooden figures everywhere. Now usually, Jordan would try and retreat because she knew very well she wasnât able to control her emotions properly. Yet her wolf side decided it was determined to make an appearance and she was finding it difficult not to let it.
âYou shouldnât have done that....â
They didnât take her seriously, laughing and goading her, which only made things worse. So when Max came around the corner, the situation was already getting out of hand.
âS-Stay back.â
Her breathing had picked up pace, her jaw clenched tightly and within the blink of an eye, she had let her anger rule, slamming one guy up against the wall in the small alleyway behind where she had been, as a growl rumbled in her chest.Â
          iâll never forget
                their faces
             i still see themÂ
                   every night
hereâs a question for your soul;                      how many times can                          a broken thingÂ
                             b r e a k ?

Ice palace collision || Jordan & Freyja
freyjaxbeaumontâ:
Freyja hadnât left the Estate much since her mother passed and her father disappeared. Part of it was because her coven wanted to protect her even more now. The other part was that Freyja never felt like leaving. Her body was either heavily exhausted or she only went out with someone in her coven. Every day seemed like a different side of her was coming out and she definitely was experiencing mood swings. But she felt like it was normal for a girl who had just lost her whole immediate family.
She walked to the ice cream shop, craving some ice cream dipped in chocolate. Freyja didnât indulge her sweet tooth all that often, but recently, she had been eating way more sweets than normal. Another thing she felt like was happening because of her recent loss. But she felt like anything that could make her feel a little ounce of happiness was worth it.Â
She practically glided up to the counter and ordered a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. Her mouth watered as she waited as patiently as she could. She was practically shaking with excitement as she stood there and when she got her ice cream, the first bite was pure bliss. She hummed as the vanilla ice cream mixed together with the hardened chocolate. This was exactly what she needed.
Freyja turned and began walking towards the door when someone pushed into her and it caused her to stumble towards someone that was in a booth. She managed to keep hold of her ice cream as she ran into the person and she quickly stumbled backwards. âIâm so sorry, that wasnâtââÂ
Her eyes widened and she tried to move backwards when the girl got out of the booth. âWaitââ Freyja managed to get out before the girl pushed into her, causing Freyja to drop her cone onto the ground. He her heart sank and her emotions were building up inside. Part of her wanted to cry. âYou canât justâŠâ Freyja lowered herself to the ground where her ice cream had fallen. âThat wasnât my fault. Iâm sorry that I knocked your ice cream over but Iâm not the one you should be upset with.â Her jaw was clenched as she forced the tears away. Something as small as her ice cream falling to the ground threatened to make the young girl break all over again.Â
Jordanâs mind raced as she tried to piece together the situation that had unfolded in front of her. Sheâd reacted out of instinct really and had just pushed away the person who was too close for her to be barely comfortable. She could feel the cold of the ice cream as it soaked the material of her pants and a sigh left her lips.Â
âW-Whatâre you doing?â
The young wolf watched as the girl lowered herself to the ground and her brow furrowed wondering what she was going to do down there. It was only as she saw the emotion in her face, Jordan could see she was upset.
âItâs no good now....you canât...I mean...just get up....please....get up.â
Panic started to merge with the frustration that she had felt with the initial accident and Jordan clenched her hands tightly into fists. Sheâd lost her appetite anyway and just wanted to leave. Yet when her visual slipped over to the original one who had bumped into the girl, she saw a guy who was sniggering. It seemed he was no worse for the situation and still had a large cone with strawberry and vanilla ice-cream piled up high in it.Â
Momentarily glancing back at the female, Jordanâs face was full of worry and seriousness.Â
âI know it wasn't your fault. We can get another....â
She tried to offer her a smile but didnât quite manage it and the result was her lips curling up ever so slightly and then back to a frown again. The guy responsible was still chuckling as he sat down in a booth with two friends and now they were all looking in their direction.Â
Letting anger take a front seat, Jordan walked over to them. She wasnât much good with small talk or threats, so as one looked at the wet patch on her pants, the young wolf quickly swiped her hand across the table which then knocked a sundae into each of their laps. Swiftly before the other had time to react, Jordan grabbed his ice-cream cone and yanked the elasticated waist of his tracksuit bottoms, allowing access at the front where she proceeded to dump the cone before patting it hard.
âYou stupid b....â
All three of them were now cussing and none of them realised how close they were to releasing a side to Jordan they wouldnât want to see and she was desperately trying to hold it in herself. Needing to pull back from the situation, she ran a hand down her face and inhaled deeply, trying to remember the way to relax. It was only when she let her line of vision fall on the girl again, it triggered her guilty side.
âI-Iâm sorry....here...take this...buy another...â--and with that, Jordan held out some money.
âYou havenât heard the fuckinâ last of this...just you wait....â
The three guys appeared to want to get changed more eagerly than she did and had stood up to go. She knew that if she looked back at them with the threat they had just made, her wolf side would definitely find its way forward. So all she could do was fix her gaze on the girl, hold her body rigid and hope they would just leave.
Not a walk in the park--a run|| Jordan & Gwyn
The park near the church had been busy all day and Jordan had made a point of avoiding it. The last thing she needed right now was too much contact with families and kids who would do nothing but make noise and possibly invade her personal space. So sheâd waited till evening and the sun was retiring, waiting for the moon to takes its rightful place in the sky. This was a far more peaceful time and gave her the opportunity to run. Stress and energy had built up through the day and this was how she knew how to release it in a positive way. Though her mind was very much messed up and constantly worrying about one thing lately--more to the point, one person--Caden. A part of Jordan wished they were still cramped up in that damn truck and travelling because then there seemed to be some sort of hope. Everything was lost now and yes, she knew why were in Roseville, but this?--this was just another knife to the gut--twisted and wrong. Each day that went by seemed to take a little piece of the memory of how things once were and Jordan was struggling but putting on the best front she could to suggest she could cope. The evidence was there to see if looked at carefully, but everyone had their own shit to deal with, so she was trying to handle her own.Â
Sheâd lost count of how many times she had completed a full lap of the park. Her earbuds were in as usual and she was listening to music that held a heavy bass and some explicit lyrics. It was the only reprieve she seemed to be able to get which pulled her thoughts away from other things--if only slightly.Â
When eventually her lungs felt tired and refused to take in enough oxygen, she finally stopped and stood there, chest rising and falling, body stooped over as her hands pressed against her upper legs. Sheâd noticed a figure nearby but purposely didnât make eye contact with them, instead, she pulled the top up on the water bottle with her teeth and took a sip as she returned to an upright position. It was then her dark hues slipped to the other person and she just stared.

Iâll tell you my sins, you can sharpen your knife ||Jordan&Cat
Jordan withdrew more over the next day or so, putting her energy into running and woodwork. She wasnât great on the surface of things, but it certainly didnât represent what was going on underneathâwhich was a sea of emotionsâa storm that covered the hurtâhurt that caused the storm, a vicious circle of a questionable coping mechanism
She canât grief any moreâshe canât allow herself to. Doing that would mean focusing her energy on struggling through the death of her pack, but the one important person in her lifeâthe only one she could rely on and trust, he had just lost his brother and Jordan had to try and help get him through itâeven if she was of no help at all, she couldnât drown in her own grief. She had to be that swan who was strong and calm above water, whilst frantically wading like crazy underneath.
As she walked, Jordan pinched the skin between her thumb and forefinger. At first, it didnât hurt but gradually the pain started to set in, at least it was something she could feel because sometimes she wondered if she was becoming numb to everything. She was kidding herself though, falsely believing she was doing fine. If you convince yourself enough, you can start to believe it, if only temporary--because it never does last and usually comes back tenfold to bite your sweet ass.
Boundaries were important in this town and trying to lay low was too but if honest, theyâd been the last thing on her mind. So much was in her head right now, that there was little room to concentrate on certain things and it was only as she found herself outside of St Hubertus church, the young wolf stopped to watch a congregation leaving. She swallowed thickly and pressed her lips together firmly.Â
âWorshipping is just false hope.â
She spoke loud enough so they could hear her, but immediately Jordan regretted it a little bit. Though she pushed herself to not withdraw and disappear.
âI-It doesnât do you no good. People you love still die before their time--taken away by others...murdered...slaughtered....there is no god...a-and if there is...he doesnât give a shit about us.â
Everyone had stopped to look in her direction, hushed voices heard as they spoke amongst themselves. Some shot an indignant look her way and Jordan felt the anger rise, but quickly shook her head and decided to leave the situation by walking away.Â
âWhatâs the point.....â
@wrovght
Ice palace collision || Jordan & Freyja
Jordan felt useless and when she struggled to keep everything together and couldnât cope--she felt selfish, as though she was trying to think about herself so that control could be maintained. She should be stronger--she should be like her parents--like her pack. Instead, they are all dead and Caden is lumbered with someone who can only ever be good enough to stand in their shadow.Â
She no longer thought clearly and the young wolfâs only focus was that when around her alpha, she gave him the support he needed. Jordan was thankful he had Willow because she was what he really needed and hopefully now, his old pack would become more reasonable and supportive too.Â
She withdrew though, never finding it that easy to make friends anyway, but scared to now. Anything could trigger her--and it would then be the human side of Jordan which would shrink inwards, replaced with something far more dangerous, unpredictable and willing to lash out in anger--because that was how her wolf knew how to protect.Â
The Ice palace seemed like the type of place which wouldnât draw too much attention to her. People were either in there to grab ice-cream and leave or sit down with friends and chat amongst themselves. Either way, she couldnât imagine anyone going in there purely for the conversation with her. So there she sat in a small booth with the largest sundae anyone could eat, yet sheâd only had a couple of spoonfuls in the last five minutes, her appetite not really very big at the moment. Yet when someone knocked into another person, causing Jordans sundae to tip into her lap, the young wolf gasped.
âWhat the??....look what you did.....â
Automatically she pushed the nearest one whoâd connected with the dessert and clenched her teeth together at how cold her crotch now was and resisting the urge to just lash out again.

Between a rock & a hard place ||One shot
Jordan was starting the intricate detail of a carved piece she was doing and it involved a small knife which looked like a small thin scalpel. It allowed her to get the finer lines on the feathers of the wooden bird she held in her hand. She could pretty much set herself at work anywhere and today had been no different, so she wasnât home.
Suddenly her concentration was torn apart by the wolf howl. She might not be experienced in many aspects--but Jordan knew the cry of wolf and she would never forget it. It was full of pain and haunting to the very core. Sheâd heard it more than once on the night her family and pack got slaughtered--also heard it in a different way when it left Cadenâs lips when she had shaken him to wake him from his unconscious state after everyone had been murdered. The massacre wasnât far enough in the past to let her cope well enough now and all it did was bring back each painful and terrifying memory.Â
Jordan jumped up from where she was sat on the ground, the carved bird dropping to the floor. She smelt blood and noticed sheâd cut herself with the knife and yet she felt no pain, she was too busy trying not to let the panic stop her breathing properly.Â
--she had to get home
--she had to find Caden.
Heâd help. Whatever it was that had happened in this town, he would be able to ease her stress a little once she was back in his presence.Â
So she dropped everything and ran back home--even leaving the bird she had been working on. The nauseous feeling hit her stomach and slowed up her pace slightly.Â
Once inside, sheâd made her way to the rooftop, it was secluded just as she liked it, but it allowed her to feel free when looking up the sky. Sheâd only been there a short while when the sound which her ears picked up was enough to make her knees want to buckle and she quickly gripped the metal rail that surrounded the small area.Â
--she knew that pain-filled bellow.
No..no!...
Her head shook in denial because even though she wasn't aware of what had occurred or who had died, Jordan knew someone had and it was Caden she had heard last--so it was someone close to him. Tears filled her eyes, brimmed along the bottom for the briefest of moments before spilling out and rolling down her cheeks.Â
She was barely getting by as it was, but had been managing small steps towards some normality and now?--it was worse. She had the most sinking and sickening feeling which she couldnât shake. Waiting for him was like waiting to seal some sort of fate--waiting to deliver a blow to her already questionable stability.Â
--but what other choice was there?
Jordan knew whatever the news was, she had to at least appear okay and push aside anything she felt so she could help the one person who had helped her--who had saved her.
Yet how do you keep someone else afloat whilst you are busy drowning?

Boundaries and a place to stay|| Jordan&Cade
cadelehaneâ:
The question that shot through the condo to his position near the kitchen earned a heavenward glance, clenched eyelids, and a shake of his head. Forget the damn air pump once and you never hear the end of it. âYeah,â he called back to Jordan, unable to hide the amusement from his tone if he tried. Which he wasnât. âThereâs an air pump.âÂ
As he opened up their current text conversation and attached the picture heâd just taken of them, Caden grumbled to himself, âYouâre never gonna let me live that down, are you.â It was fine if she didnât. He welcomed the teasing. It made them feel all the more like family.
When heâd amassed New Haven Pack all those decades ago, itâd been for one reason, and one reason alone. War. Once upon a time, heâd convinced himself otherwise. Way back when he wouldâve sworn up and down that it was actually the prevention of war that made him go from pack to pack, challenging alpha after alpha, until all the scattered packs in Vermont marched under one banner: his. It was a lie that heâd needed at the time - to believe that heâd come back to Roseville with an alternative to the Accords, one that didnât involve a blood pact that made the Wolfsbourne Crescents deferential to anyoneâs laws but their own. It was the same belief that got his old man killed.Â
It didnât take long for his gathered warriors to become more than that, more than cannon fodder or a show of force. In a matter of years they became his family. And, as their Alpha, their prosperity and longevity had to mean more to him than a pack he didnât have a place in anymore. Cade gave himself over to them entirely, wholeheartedly, and forced himself to give up on a war no one wanted for the sake of leading a pack of his own making.Â
Jordan was just one of the many pups born to the New Haven wolves. Sheâd been surrounded by people who loved her and looked out for her, surrounded by warriors and fighters who would kill and die for her in a second because that was what it meant to be in a pack. Now all she had was him, and all he had was her. They were a family, and that meant teasing, bickering, and riding each otherâs last nerve. After everything theyâd been through, it was the first bit of normalcy theyâd reclaimed. And one heâd be grateful for for the rest of his damn life.
With the text sent and his phone sheathed in his back pocket he walked the stretch of hallway to the room sheâd claimed and leaned his shoulder on the doorjamb. His arms folded in front of his chest and a smirk twisted his lips affectionately, which stretched further when she aimed her own smile at him.Â
âI thought so too,â admitted Caden, glancing around her barren bedroom, imagining the possibilities of what sheâd do with the space. Tone casual, though warm in its undertones, he continued, âBig enough for both of us to have our own space, with the kitchen between us so that you canât forget that I also live here.â A teasing wink was shot her way.Â
Nodding toward one of her windows, the one to the side with the fire escape landing just outside of it, he revealed, âThereâs roof access from that window, too. Just a section of roof, but itâs basically private.â He shrugged, motioning that he wasnât making any particular point, or implying anything specific. It was just that he knew that sometimes having your own room wasnât enough. And since they werenât all that close to any forests for her to run through, sitting under the stars on a rooftop could be a possible alternative.Â
âOh,â he said, suddenly reminded of another purchase heâd made in addition to the air mattresses. âI almost forgot.â Cade walked over to her closet and pulled the mattressâ box from the shelf heâd pushed it onto, before tossing Jordan the second box heâd stored there.Â
Once sheâd caught it he watched her turn it over to inspect what it was, explaining, âItâs a Polaroid camera. I know photographyâs not really your thing but,â his shoulders jerked. âI saw it and I thought of you.â He glanced down at the box, noting again the small camera printed on the front, it was black and vintage-looking. Very grungey, or whatever the fuck the kids were calling it these days.Â
The kiss to his cheek was welcomed by a broader smile. There was a fond warmth to his gaze as he stared down at Jordan, more appreciative of her in that moment than the little wolf could ever guess. He ironed out his expression when she asked if sheâd picked the best room. The single shoulder that lifted didnât offer any kind of reassurance, and the teasing was back in his eyes. She darted off and Caden followed slowly after her with a chuckle.Â
âNo take backs,â he said when she circled the master bedroom. This time he entered fully into the room a few steps before settling in against one of the walls. Still smirking at Jordan, Cadeâs silence was broken by a level, âIâm bringing Willow by later, either tonight or tomorrow, to ward the place. Iâm also gonna install some home security and change the locks and shit. After that we can hit up a mattress store and start picking out some furniture.â
He was just reiterating the game plan heâd been forming in his head, but when it came to his relationship with Jordan, Cade liked to keep things open and honest. Communicating was how they kept each other safe. Honesty was the best policy, and heâd never lied to her before. He didnât plan on starting now.Â
âGood.â
If only he couldâve seen her face right now, he would have seen the amusement that was covering it. Even when heartache was something they both held and emptiness would engulf her into the darkest hole, it didnât mean she never smiled--or never let her humour come through. Jordan had a dry sense of humour and would find fun in the simplest of things, that was still there, it had never left, it just couldnât always surface. It could with him though, it came easy because he had been there before, during and after. Everything else was gone and there was nothing at all left apart from Caden and the memories she had in her heart and head. She would panic sometimes, scared that the happy images in her head would blur and fall into a place she wouldnât be able to retrieve them--terrified that the awful and traumatising ones would finally take over every piece of her. She couldnât let that happen, she just couldnât.
âYou have no chance of me letting you...â--humour filled her tone now so even if he wasnât aware before, he would definitely be sure she was teasing him now.
She knew why he had returned to Roseville, Caden had always been upfront about it. Jordan had always been honest with him too, but it didnât mean she aired her thoughts though sometimes. She wasnât very good when it came to herself and how she felt. The young wolf found it difficult to open up about certain things and she couldnât put into words how isolating things were at the moment for her because she didnât want it to sound like he wasnât helping or as though she wasnât being what was expected of her. He had history here, Caden wasnât a newcomer and this pack mustâve been close to him back then--she knew how packs worked. She just wasnât sure what the future held because regardless of their feelings about him at the moment, Jordan could sense there was some sort of care there--at least from Harlow anyway. Then again, she might have been picking up on something that wasnât there--because the young wolf always questioned everything she did lately. Trouble was, she was the outsider in all of this, nobody else.
--this was why he was so important to her--why this apartment was so important. He was the constant she needed, the one who didnât let her go too far, someone who took care of her like her family used to--he was her family and living here in this building was another piece towards the security she desperately needed. Which is why it didnât matter about the down times when she felt bitterness seep in instead of grief, because when it came down to it, Jordan would do anything for him--anything at all.
âI canât forget you live here too....â
A look of mirth appeared on her face as she shot a look at him.
â...because you snore.â
She scrunched her nose up before nodding, still joking.
âYou do...you really do.â
Jordan was only messing around and it came naturally for her around him. This was definitely one side she needed to show more but with others too.
âReally?...oh wow...I bet that the sky looks really cool at night from up there on the roof. You will know where to find me if I canât sleep.â
What she should have said was âwhenâ she can't asleep because not a single night had passed when she could sleep more than a couple of hours or so at a time. In fact most times she woke sweating from the nightmares she had and was that claustrophobic she had to get outside into the open air. It wasnât something she brought up though because, in a funny way, she didnât have to acknowledge it the next day if she didnât talk about it.
âOh....what is it?â
As she walked over to him, curiousity covered her face and she was almost immediately behind him when he turned, taking the box as he gave it to her.
â A polaroid one?...but this....â--she fumbled and opened the box to get a better look. Photography wasnât her thing when it came to professional no, but capturing brief seconds in time--well that had become something significant and of value to her. â..this is freakinâ awesome!....thank you....â She had loads of ideas for it, photographs she wanted to take, where to pin them in her room. Oh yes, the young wolf could see herself becoming a pain in the ass with it. She didnât put it back in the box though, instead, Jordan carefully placed it in the front padded pocket of her rucksack, a smile still etched onto her lips.
His room though was defitely the master bedroom.
âDamn it...no takebacks....â
She grinned and pretended to be bothered by it, but really she was happy enough with her own room. It was plenty big enough after theyâd spent so long in the truck and crappy motels.
âUmm...is Willow okay?..I mean...did she take thingâs okay...you being back anâ all?â
She didnât want to pry, but was concerned and she hoped he would get a welcome of some sort. though she followed it up with a different subject theyâd just been on about in case he didnât want to say.
âI am gonna make us a coffee table...or something like that....âÂ
She wasnât quite sure what yet and usually she carved things on a smaller scale but it wasnât because she wasn't capable doing something big, Jordan's attention span tended to not be so good after a certain length of time, but her attention was always captured with the details of smaller pieces of woodwork.Â
Letâs start this again|| Jordan & Willow
weepingwillowroseâ:
Youâre pretty. I could tell youâd be prettyâŠ.a-and your smile when you said you were hisâŠ.Â
Willow decided right then and there that she liked the young pup. Of course, she had to be great for Cade to stick by her the way he has, but it was nice to form an opinion of her own. Seeing her now, feeling her emotions, realizing how vulnerable she was in this moment⊠her heart went out to her.Â
It didnât take an empath to realize how much she cared for her alpha, his well being, his happiness. She was as loyal as a beta could be, and Willow had a feeling that the doe eyed look and state of confusion was only temporary. There was a deep seated fight in her that was clearly shaken but couldnât be taken.Â
Her smile faltered at Jordanâs stuttered question. The pup wasnât sure whether or not to ask, clearly not wanting to overstep her alphaâs orders to keep quiet. Luckily, she was in good company, and there was little Willow didnât know.
âYes, darling. He told me last night.â She knew Jordan was aware heâd spent the night, having ensured Cade had sent her a message so she didnât worry about his not returning. Sheâd have invited Jordan over sooner, but, well⊠it wouldnât have been the kind of scene for company.
An arm wrapped around the small frame of the taller woman, and she lead her in the direction of the apartment. âDonât worry, we may have just met but I am no stranger to you.â Her voice was low, soothing. Keeping a physical connection with Jordan as they fell in step with one another, the easiest way to soothe her of her pain.
âWe can talk once weâre inside, okay?â It was too dangerous to linger on the street these daysâŠ
A small crease formed in the middle of her forehead just between both brows when Willow stated Caden had told her last night. It wasnât because he told her--he was bound to, Willow being who she was to him, but Jordan wouldnât mind a heads up when it came to who she could speak openly with, because until now, she thought that number was zilch.Â
âOkay....â
She offered her a faint smile and unlike most people she had to force any kind of expression for, it was genuine. It was much preferable that Caden spoke about it anyway because Jordan had not spoken a word of it since that night. There was far too much raw emotion there to be able to have a calm conversation and the young wolf was terrified where her mind would go if she spoke in any detail. So she wanted to say more to Willow than just one word âokayâ--but her mouth hesitantly opened and she closed it again, figuring it would only just be some ramble anyway.Â
For a moment, her body went rigid when the other female wrapped an arm around her shoulder. She knew she wanted to pull away--and yet didnât. Willow was not making her doing anything, but the sensation she felt was nothing like she had encountered before, so at the same time it was comforting, it confused the hell out of her too. All Jordan did was keep her dark brown eyes firmly fixed on Willow, trying to search for something--weigh her up--analyse anything about her.Â
âI donât understand...I donât get what you mean....what does that mean?â
Jordan knew full well she should be stopping in her tracks, confusion and defensiveness running through her body and she certainly wouldnât have let anyone touch her--yet here she was, walking in time with Willow and following her back to her apartment. If she was referring to not being a stranger because of specific points like Cade's tattoos then yeah, Jordan wasnât as oblivious as some people thought. Only because she never mentioned it to him, it didnât mean to say he didnât see the way he looked at the rose on the back of his hand sometimes as a vacant expression took over his facial features. Willow had always been a part of him even when he wasnât in Roseville.
There was so much pain inside and was it so bad to just welcome something that made it feel that little bit less even if only a short while?
âIâm not clear what we are gonna talk about....but sure...--one thing was for certain, she wanted to know what it was she did that lightened the apprehension for Jordan--because that was not normal.Â
