It’s an odd thing to say the movie Queer was “baiting” because if you have seen the movie or know even the synopsis you will surely know that it is about a gay man (William Lee) who is openly gay and has relationships with men and only men. But he also has low self esteem and confidence, and his lonely af, then has a physical/emotional/even spiritual relationship with a man (guess who), all while struggling with who he is and thinking he’s unworthy of affection and love because of who and what he is, and he’s addicted to narcotics. And wants to take narcotics to develop non verbal method of communicating with the person he loves (a guy). So the deal breaker is because he’s got a narcotic addiction? pls. When the director is openly gay and wanted to make this movie since he was 17 and read the novel “Queer” by William Burroughs (who was, hold on to your hats folks, gay and Queer is a semi - biographical story by Burroughs he wrote on his experience with a guy he loved named Lewis Marker and even low key dedicated to him). If it was “baiting” as you do claim that would mean the sexuality of characters is ambiguous and never actually showing anyone to be lgbt+ or even identify or act as such in a romantic format. Lee is gay, his best friend Joe is gay, the side characters are gay, and there are small Queer clubs and bars involved, and there are none stop insights on to the lives of them in the film. The only “ambiguous one” could be Allerton. Have a nice day.
