I Can Be Anything You Need

“You’re really comparing your life to gamers? Your kind has the ability to kill; it is ingrained in your being. Gamers are not natural born killers unlike your kind that is. I will give you the fact that not all have killed but if one day you can’t make yourself stop feeding off of someone, what happens then? You kill them and then an innocent life ends to keep a being that should already be dead alive. How is that fair?” She asked. “And you all couldn’t be the bigger person in all of this and end it? Both sides are to blame and so we are here to make sure that there are no more unnecessary deaths.” A soft scoff left her lips and the brunette shook her head. “Maybe I am but I do grow bored rather quickly so don’t for one second think that I won’t go after you.”

“I’m not a naturally born killer. I’m a naturally born human who was bit by some stupid vampire to turn me into one of theirs and as a result ripped me out of my normal life with normal friends and a pretty beautiful boyfriend. The world’s not fair, sweetie. It wasn’t to me and it isn’t to other humans.” Rose rolled her eyes, deciding against pointing out that there were vampires and even some of the stupid werewolves that were just as innocent as they got brutally killed by hunters. It’d only be like talking to a wall. “I wasn’t doubting that. I’m only doubting that you will ever actually catch me or even kill me if it comes to that.”

The vampire’s words made Callie doubt her stance but only for a second or so. “Maybe you didn’t start off as a killer but that’s what you became and while it sucks that you got turned against your wishes you are still here hurting innocent people. Well there is no doubt in my mind that if it comes to that I will do it.”

“It’s not prejudice if you base your opinion on facts and I base my opinions on facts. All the bloodshed is more than enough proof.” Callie replied. “Makes sense and maybe if your kind just killed wolves there wouldn’t be a problem but that’s not the case, is it? Too many innocent lives are lost and we won’t stand in the sidelines and watch all the bloodshed. Good luck with that. I highly doubt that you’ll be able to but it will be entertaining to watch.”

“No. It still kinda is prejudice if you call every vampire evil just because you have facts about vampires being evil. It’s the same if you say all video gamers are violent just because you know about cases in which video gamers got violent. It’s prejudice. Prejudice based on facts but still prejudice.” Rose clicked her tongue, shaking her head slightly. “I think, they started. It was all fine and well until one of them had to bite one of us, sending us through hell and to death.” Rose smiled. “See? I was hoping you’d say that. Means you’re keeping me alive to enjoy the show.”

“When the prey asks you nicely not to shoot an arrow, you’d think someone would be inclined to listen is all. Of course, you’re right, there’s a huge difference. My instincts are never wrong – comes with the territory. Surely, if my instincts were wrong, I’d be in much worse condition right now – if you’re as good as you imply you are.”

“One might think that but one can also think that the prey was just asking nicely to confuse the hunter. There is a huge difference and I’m glad you see that. If you say so. Oh I am as good as I say I am and that’s why you’re still here walking towards me.” 

“Maybe I thought you were smart enough to not try and attack the person that just shot a warning shot. Was I wrong?” 

“I thought you were smart enough to not shoot an arrow at me, but instincts can be proven wrong sometimes, huh?”

“I’m a hunter, I’m always hunting, I don’t see how you would be that surprised that I actually went ahead and shot an arrow. Also just to be clear I didn’t shoot it at you, I shot it somewhere around you. So that’s what this is? Your instinct telling you that coming closer to me is a good idea? Because if that’s what’s going on I can assure you that your instincts are wrong.”

“Well, then, for someone with a gut feeling telling them to shoot me, you have a lot of faith in my not attacking you. You know, after shooting an arrow at me – whether you hit me or not.”

“Maybe I thought you were smart enough to not try and attack the person that just shot a warning shot. Was I wrong?” 

“And what makes you think I’m one of those people? I –”

“Call it a gut feeling.”

“Aw, you hurt my feelings with your prejudice. You could wait for actual proof until calling me evil,” Rose quipped and lightly shrugged her shoulders at the mention of harmony between vampires and werewolves, “I’m not too fond of things that can kill me. It’s one of the reasons why I don’t have a wooden stake collection. It just doesn’t work with my survival instinct.” She smiled widely, her voice filled with amusement as she answered: “By putting the dog on a leash. I can’t have my life depend on a stranger. First you make sure, it can’t get you in trouble. Then you find a way to break the link.”

All the bloodshed is more than enough proof.” Callie replied. “Makes sense and maybe if your kind just killed wolves there wouldn’t be a problem but that’s not the case, is it? “I don’t know about you, but I think pointing an arrow at someone is rude, so imagine how rude it’d be if you shoot it? Then maybe we’ll have to put my skills of persuasion to work.”

“Really? I don’t see it that rude… not if the person deserves to have an arrow pointed at it that is. Maybe you will but you will have to be quick and I don’t think you can persuade me fast enough.”

“And why would I tell you that? It’s so much more fun to leave you wondering. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. The point is you won’t know for sure until it’s too late.” Callie gave her an innocent smile. “Oh I plan to. Maybe I’ll get lucky and get two for the price of one.”

“It’s the old good versus evil conversations in which both parties reveal their amazing plan and we all see where it goes.” Rose spoke with a smile in her voice. “I wish you all the fun! As long as you’re not stabbing my mutt I’m alright, and I am planning to keep that one safe.” As soon as she had found out who exactly it was. 

“Except that in this case we know who is the lesser of two evils. Everything would be so much easier if your kind and the mutts, as you call them, just lived in perfect harmony. Maybe then we wouldn’t have felt the need to jump in to stop the carnage.” She explained. Callie didn’t feel joy in killing vampires or wolves like some of her fellow hunters but she also didn’t give killing them a second thought if they were hurting someone. “And how exactly do you plan on keeping it safe?”

“And why would I want to do that? I’m not that easy to convince so you will have to do a lot more than a smile to make sure that I don’t shoot this arrow at you.” 

“See I normally don’t listen to rumors but this one, well I know this one is true. You may be faster and might be able to heal but I know something you don’t know and I’m also [pretty good with a silver dagger.”

“Really, is that so? What is it you know that makes you capable of killing me and I don’t have a clue about? Cause I think you’re bluffing.” Rose let her eyes wander over the other, before shrugging. “How about you go stab some puppies with that silver dagger then?”

“And why would I tell you that? It’s so much more fun to leave you wondering. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. The point is you won’t know for sure until it’s too late.” Callie gave her an innocent smile. “Oh I plan to. Maybe I’ll get lucky and get two for the price of one.”

“Is that right? Word on the street is that you can be killed without the need to actually do much.”  

“Maybe you should stop listening to random people on the street then. I’m faster, stronger and heal better than you. I think there really is only one of us who can be killed without much effort.”

“See I normally don’t listen to rumors but this one, well I know this one is true. You may be faster and might be able to heal but I know something you don’t know and I’m also [pretty good with a silver dagger.”

“No one you can kill with that pathetic bow so you might as well put it down.”

“Is that right? Word on the street is that you can be killed without the need to actually do much.”  

“Hopefully, they will. It’s a fair conclusion to make, there’d have to be something wrong for you to forget that.”

“I’m keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath. You would think that with my husband’s power I would be better at remembering shit. And yes I did use the H word.”
